@@posniknelb6114 read the schedule in the video...for production bike 138hp...for the factory bike 135??i do not believe...even 150 Is not much..Honda declares less and less than reality...
Indeed, the works Repsol NSR500V was faster and more potent than the "competicion client" models that they sold to private teams. IIRC, the works "screamer" Repsol NSR500 V4 (Doohan and Criville) were often mentioned having about 190hp (a bit less than that in the "big bang" V4 variant), and the Repsol NSR500V (riden by Okada, later by Gibernau) was down nearly 40hp compared to the V4 machines, which means speculating about 150hp is actually correct.
That 500 2 stroke is the ultimate race bike, I have the RS250 NX5 and that's an absolutely brilliant bike couldn't believe what the 500cc could do around the track
Any NSR500V is absolutely magnificent and a marking piece of racing history. Especially this particular specimen being the very first one and the HRC press bike (with a ton of spare parts in addition!) makes it all the more special. Probably worth (finally?) having a good go in a private track session. Regardless, congrats to the lucky owner! It was a very interesting - if a bit weird - time in the 500cc GPs, when this came out. There were a number of second tier V4s in the grid (ROC, Harris, SwissAuto / MuZ) but the privateer numbers were very weak. This move by Honda with the NSR500V meant a way for more affordable and also "easier" approachable bikes, looking to increase numbers in the 500cc GPs grid, which did provide results. The lighweight, agility and ease of use of the NSR500V (compared to the V4s) made these really interesting and actually viable, same to be said for the "works" Aprilia RSW500 and the Modenas KR3 of same era, with somewhat comparable philosophy. The problem that all these lighter-weight models encountered was that the cornering speed and approach was so different to the V4s, that the speculated superior atributes (which ocasionally shown promise in qualify and practice) would eventually fail come race day. The "point-and-shoot" nature of the more potent (and heavier) V4s eventually meant a hinderance to the "faster n' smoother" flowing lines of the V2s, when both shared a corner. The V4s would resort to a "block pass" whenever possible to counter the superior handling and corner speed of the V2s, then run away once out of the corner (40hp+ difference...). I remember reading about those that ridden these, saying they could be more satisfying on an empty track, but somewhat frustrating if directly against the V4s, because of this. A bit underrated if looking just to the race results, but a pure-bred 500cc race machine regardless, and really special like only GP 2-strokes can be.
Hi, I live in the United Kingdom. I have seen a Honda NSR 500v at paddget motorcycles it is the official HRC dealer in the UK. They have a brand-new one of these on display in their showroom with 0 miles. It’s never been ridden.
Thanks so much for these videos!! You can really tell your enthusiasm for these bikes. Ps... I met Abhi in Niagara Falls a few years back and he was one of my inspirations to pursue my dreams and pursue this wild hobby
Love the vid! Massive fan of the NSR500V, used to daydream about Honda doing a street version back in the late 90's. Always felt the RC213V-S needed more sexy styling. Thinking MV F3, Ducati Panigale sort of looks!
I absolutely believe that, but damn if it isn't a lot of work to get into the world of two-strokes nowadays! Parts are tough, and it's crazy how much work I see Olly putting into tuning at every trackday/race we do together. I'm hoping Kramer makes a two-stroke out of the KTM 300 2-stroke dirtbike motor with the APEX chassis they just built for the 350cc 4-stroke motor, I'd be open to something like that to learn how to ride a two-smoker properly. But the 2-strokes I've been able to ride on the track have all been too small for me to comfortably shift enough to keep it in the powerband and I don't plan on jumping on a Suter MMX500 anytime soon!
true on the parts and maintenance at the track. I was always envious of the diesel riders just putting in gas and going instead of changing jets every 5 degrees and ripping of top ends constantly. Luckily I was messing with rs125 Honda’s and super easy to work on.
I'm in love with the RC213V-S. Still my favorite bike ever. Well right next behind an actual Honda motogp bike that's on the grid. Yes I know Honda's not winning right. Still my favorite bike and Ducati a close second. It's always been that way and probably will remain so for ever. Honda #1, Ducati #2.
Sat on the bike in the gym watching this and Leon Haslam is on the treadmill in the corner who rode the shell advance 500v and back in 2012 Clive Padgett tried to sell me a brand new one for £90k which was the same price as my apartment at the time. Small world
These bikes were/are just gorgeous. No wings or weirdo design ques simply for the sake of it. Stunning, pure motorcycles that didn't need any of that crap to look sensational. And so you know Abhi, Alex's surname is pronounced Griv-ee-yea😏

Joey told me years ago he hated these bloody things. He was given a production RS500 twin back in the day. Horrible, wheelied in every gear, totally unstable at high speed and for road racing far to much power for so little weight. He rode it at Macau... Nightmare...
RC213V-S with race kit produces about 230HP - in 2015 was definitely the most powerful bike you could buy in the dealership and even now it’s at the top. Especially taking into consideration that it’s much lighter than other same class bikes.
@@douglaswilliams1792 wow is right! It’s incredible how light the 500 is, I was just moving it around last night for a poster photoshoot and I actually started laughing. It feels like you’re moving a bike with the engine missing, though the turning radius is still horrible as it’s a proper race bike!
The NSR500V is my dream... 100kg,138-140hp....100 NM...(Repsol team spec over 150hp..) The ultimate race machine and the ultimate fun machine..🚀🚀🚀🤯😱💯
like the modenas kr3 500 v3 or aprilia rsw 500 v2
Aprillia had a rotary disc valve engine. The Honda was reed valve
The factory bikes were around 135bhp not 150bhp

That NSR has kept me up for nights since you unboxed it! The RC213V-S WoW! Then tease us with the NR750 within 2 minutes!
Look at the NR750 that is the Bike Massimo Tamburini pretty much got a lot of his design ideas for the 916, 2 years later!
Thanks so much for these videos!! You can really tell your enthusiasm for these bikes.

Wait, were you part of the dinner with John and Mari-Lynne or did we meet at the Falls themselves?
Great to hear from you!
@IconicMotorbikes I sure was! John mentioned my collection of Triples but you guys were short on time to come see.

I’m taking the 2 stroke hands down. Abhi you get fast on a 2 stroke then you’ll absolutely annihilate it on a 4 stroke

Sounds like you have a cool gym! We were just exchanging messages with Leon's Chief Mechanic that year - Mick Shanley. Small world, indeed!
@ it’s a bit of a hub for riders, the Lowes brothers train here too.
Good luck with Mick!
This channel is really growing on me
Glad to hear it, thanks for the kind words!
Finally the RC213V-S my all time favorite bike 😍

So do cr 250 r parts fit in it? Like pistons sn cylinders? Crank bearings?
No.. totally different engines..
I’m guessing there was a rubber pad that covered the welds and latch.?
Good point.
That NSR-V would run circles around the glorified CBR600
The 213 V-S,is Beatiful.but on the Performance side.they should have made the bike, produce at least,180-200HP.

Okada almost won that race at Shah Alam
No ugly ass useless winglets on the front fairing is priceless. NSR500 aerodynamic fairing is an art piece, the RC213V-S not so much.
HONDA❤❤❤
i dont understand how rich ppl trust this company their bikes ..who owns iconic?
Criv----eeee-----yay
Thank you!
"the mirrors would go away"??? So we would get that in the race kit? Basically just remove something.
What do they weigh?
Rough weights:
NSR500V: 226 pounds wet
RC213V-S: 415 pounds wet
RC213V-S with Race Kit: 390 pounds wet
