The scholastic set!! Ahhhh, I remember when my school would give us the scholastic books catalogue and we'd order our books and it was like Christmas when they arrived!! I have this exact Narnia set from my scholastic order from almost like 20 years ago when I was in fourth or fifth grade, wowowow I need to find them the nostalgia hit HARD at this😂

finally, I was about to ask about "the wheel of time" in the comments on some of your other videos. especially under the one where you talk about books that are difficult to read. man, I am currently on number 9 and the sheer number of books and pages I still have to go through are intimidating. but at the same time exciting, because the character development and world building is soooo good. and my boyfriend has read them twice and says reading them will be really worth it. I definitely picked up some series for me and my boyfriend to read in the future ;)
I am surprised and delighted to see you have read Watership Down. I find it such a nish book that not many people know about it. It is so intense. Thanks for the video it was lots of fun and to the point.
Thank you!! I tried to make a tour of bookshelves as entertaining as I possibly could! And Watership Down deserves more love! I wish everybody would read that book!
Love re-watching this video over and over! I'd love to see you try the Sword of Truth books, they sadly get alot of hate on BookTube because Goodkind was kind of an awful person, but I really enjoyed the series and feel it's worth a read to all fans of fantasy. I'm about to dive into the Dragonriders of Pern series myself so, I'll come back and comment eventually if I recommend it!
Goodkind has been on my radar for a while! Would you recommend I start with “Sword of Truth?” And thank you! This is one of my favorite videos I have ever made so far!
@@iangubeli I think starting with Wizards First Rule (the first book published in the Sword of Truth series) is the best way to start. There are novels that came later that are set beforehand but, I find they can't be fully appreciated without the context of the books that came chronologically after them :). Wizard's First Rule itself isn't a 5/5 read (prolly a 3/5 or 3.5/5) but it does a good job establishing the characters and setting, and the books immediately following it are great improvements. I love the Netflix series but will only watch the last season with Henry Cavill and then I’m done. There are more but my paragraph is already long 😂😂
I love it!! The Witcher is so good! I have actually never watched the show. For me, my introduction to the Witcher was the Witcher 3 video game…SO GOOD!! The game follows the books very well! I may give the show a try🤔🤔 I’m weird with not wanting to watch a series once I’ve read the books. I’m strange in that regard🙈

Holy crow?! I just recommended them 😂🤣. In a reply. Awww, I need to reread the whole series again. I just have a hard time with book 8 as one of my characters…. No spoilers. We can’t all love them all. I don’t love Lord of the rings but I lived for the cartoons when I was little and I enjoyed all the movies. Red Rising is everything! I have multiple special editions of the saga. I couldn’t get into the Dark Tower. I might try again as I love a lot of his older books. I did put a lot of books Recs on one of your other videos. I read the first 3 suneater books but got mad that they are not continuing them in mass market for the rest of the books so I don’t know. Sigh
Please, yes!! I would love some recs! And I agree, literature is subjective. I think that’s what makes RUclips so special, is that all of us come from different genres and tropes! I didn’t know Sun Eater only has the first three in mass market paperback… that kinda sucks. Oh well I guess!
I feel like John gwynne has turned so many people into epic fantasy readers. I was never interested before and then picked up Shadow of the Gods because I couldn’t get the cover out of my mind. I’m obsessed now 🥰.
Awesome tour! Your making me want to read more fantasy but I'm currently reading Song of Ice and Fire, and when your reading them you can't focus on our fantasy novels. But maybe I will be able too.
I would love the get the bar over Witcher books! Beautiful artwork. It’s just hard for me to justify paying for books I technically already own for a second time!
came back to this video at specifically suggest reading the Clockwork Angels series by Kevin J Anderson and Neil Pert who is the drummer of RUSH. It’s an epic steam punk adventure and is absolutely amazing and heartwarming and all of the good things you need in a story! I don’t see these books talked about much but they are just so worth it and got me back into reading. It’s also based on the album if you have ever listened 🤷🏼♀️
Love hearing you talk about books. Recently finished the Mistborn Trilogy and I’m in a big Epic Fantasy mood, so yours videos are just the ones I need. Would You recommend any epic fantasy series that I can read?(nothing to heavy right now please ahahah)
Thank you so much!! Glad I could help! Ummm🤔 epic fantasy that not too heavy🤔🤔 Green Bone Saga is good. It’s more I’m the urban side of things, but I consider it epic! It’s only a trilogy, nothing too much to commit to! Broken Empire is a quick trilogy! It’s more grim dark, but still very enjoyable!
@@iangubeli I have heard great things about the Green Bone Saga and it’s one of my best friend favorites so I might give it a shot now. Thank you so much!! Lots of love from Portugal💜
I think I will eventually! I would like to reread them, so I think when I do, that’s when I will do a review vlog! They are very good, though!!! Geralt makes everything worth it!
Would love to see your Theology books! I'm going to Moody Bible Institute to be a pastor! Love your Fantasy books! Joe Abercrombie is my current favorite Author.
I reread Chronicles of Narnia, I think last year? Have you tried the Bright Empires series by Stephen R. Lawhead? I currently need to finish it but it's a really interesting fantasy time travel series. Watership Down was one of my dad's favorites.
Great collection! Out of curiosity, do you generally prefer paperbacks, because I don't see many hardbacks there. Or is it so that you can buy more books instead of spending more for fewer?
Great looking bookshelf. I’m about to dig in to John Gwynnes Shadow of the Gods. The first few chapters feel a little intimidating because he uses bit of a different language. He uses a lot of words I’ve never heard of but I feel like if I don’t proceed with this I’m gonna be missing out on a really great one. Loved this video. Great job. Checking out your sweet little wife’s now. 😉
Awww, thank you!! And she is the sweetest!!💙 I am excited about Shadow of the Gods! John Gwynne has my attention! Anything the man writes I will probably read. I would love to hear what you think once you’ve finished!!
I also am having really busy weeks and for my new videos is not the best but what matters is to do what you like when you have time to do it so don't worry too much about it just think about what you like to say and do and you'll be fine
Thank you! And YES!! The King is definitely someone I am going to delve into more. The Dark Tower is all I have read from him, so I would love to get into his stuff! Any good places to start??
@@NicolaLinley Billy Summers sounds good! And I am actually interested in his horror. I want to read IT sometime this summer, I just don’t know when I can make the time😂
I feel the same way about Malazan. It's not that I don't enjoy it, I just feel like I'm slogging through trying to understand every little detail. I'm on Memories of Ice and I've found that somethings I struggled with would be better explained later on.
At least there’s some explanation eventually! It’s one of those series where the author gives no hints or direction, you just go a long for the ride! I do look forward to continuing!
Dark tower is amazing if you care about the journey, but I care much more about endings (I like to see things come together in epic fashion) and I absolutely hated dark tower (and first law) because the endings were just so underwhelming 😢
It’s such a fun and funny read!! And Mesh!? I can introduce everyone to him in my next video!! He is a big ole German shepherd/husky mix! Big, cuddly, monster!!
I have watched the Narnia films and I have read like 3 or 4 of the books mostly the books that were made into films. But I can’t finish this series as it’s too religious for me. If I had to choose between Narnia or His Dark Materials I choose His Dark Materials. Maybe I will finish the Narnia series but I don’t know if they are as good. I have read/listened to book 1 of Dune, loved it.
Percy Jackson is my abosulute favourite series since I was a kid and Harry Potter is second. Are the dragon books good ? I liked the film version. Also have you or Ashlynn read The Fourth Wing book ?
So, I haven’t read the Eragon books yet. I need to. And Ash is currently reading Fourth Wing and is loving it!! So, I think I’ll jump into it once she’s done!
@@iangubeli Awesome! I subbed to you both! Since you love fantasy, I highly recommend the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, it's one of my personal favorites!
is The prince of thornes trilogy more grimdark than The First Law Trilogy?? Ive only read the first First Law Book and I love it so far but mainly for the characters.
That’s really hard to say😂 Prince of Thorns has mainly one character you focus on the entire time, told from their perspective. It is dark, it is grim. If I had to slap my opinion to it, I would say Prince of Thorns is a little bit more grimdark than First Law, only for that fact that it feels on purpose. First Law, to me, doesn’t feel grimdark on purpose, it feels more natural! If that makes sense🙈
I read and had all of the Wheel Of Time but I traded them in. They are good but I just can’t keep everything 😬 I loved the cover of The Pariah but I didn’t care for it. I traded in most of my Games of Thrones and the show. I still love many characters but I just cant. I do have the first 3 in illustrated I’m trying to decide to keep. I enjoyed the new Game Of Thrones show book and show. I always forget the name 🙄
Honestly, I go to Barnes & Noble for my fantasy. Amazon also has a great selection (has pretty much everything you could possibly want in terms of fantasy books), and it’s pretty affordable.
Also question… I have never read A song of ice and fire… should I give it a try?? I know you seem to love it but is it for any one that likes fantasy or is it to graphic for some???
It is graphic at times, I am not gonna lie. He gets graphic with the violence and the “inappropriate” parts (if you know what I’m saying). I always skip his private scenes between characters, because I don’t feel it adds anything to the story; plus you don’t miss anything crucial when you do that. The inappropriate scenes are really only in those first two books. As a whole, the books are marvelous! They are very beautifully written. I say try the first one, and if it isn’t for you after that, then the rest may not be up your alley.
Wow thanks this is good to know! I am going to give it a try I feel like I would like the fantasy stuff so… also graphic stuff might not bother me except the inappropriate stuff so I’ll defo try!
I plan on doing a big Witcher vlog over the summer! But, to help a little before then, the books are fantastic! Very philosophical at times, awesome storyline with some of my favorite characters ever written (Geralt and Yennefer in particular). At times the books can be a bit of a slog only because it’s translated form Polish - so some things may get lost a little bit in translation. Excellent series! If you haven’t read any of them, pick them up! Definitely start with “The Last Wish.” If you have read them, then I just vomited randomly!!
@@iangubeliI haven’t read them that’s why I wanted your opinion haha! I found you from Ashlynn’s channel but I don’t read romance. I mainly love Fantasy, Sci-fi, thriller mysteries. So I ended up on your channel to find some things for my TBR. The Witcher is on my list because I just watched the series with my husband and it left me needing more of Geralt, Yen, and Ciri. I need to dive into Brandon Sanderson apparently. But I do need romance in my fantasy novels and don’t care for so much gore. Anyway now I’m rambling lol. Thanks for responding!
To be honest, no. Being filled with the Spirit and being given discernment by the Word, it makes it easier to interact with content like that. Violence and magic don’t really concern me. They’re basic parts of a lot of fantasy, even fantasy written by famous Christian’s such as Tolkien or Lewis. It’s sexual content that concerns me. But even then, I just skip it!
I’m so glad you decided to make a channel because you are so much fun to watch!!! Also could you do a shelf tour of your Christian books???? I would love to see that!!

I live in East TN and love McKays! That’s crazy 😂
We need a new bookshelf tour!
Bro Bro your personally is chefs kiss. Thank man just Thank for all of this. I am here for it!!
Thank you so much!!
I feel like John gwynne has turned so many people into epic fantasy readers. I was never interested before and then picked up Shadow of the Gods because I couldn’t get the cover out of my mind. I’m obsessed now 🥰.
It only takes one Gwynne book to make a person never look back😂
Awesome tour! Your making me want to read more fantasy but I'm currently reading Song of Ice and Fire, and when your reading them you can't focus on our fantasy novels. But maybe I will be able too.
I understand that completely!! ASOIAF is so massive that everything else needs to be put to the side while you read them!!
I love the Harry Potter book and movie series!
Subscribed mate, excellent collection and you have a great personality for this format-keep it going :)
Thank you so much!!
Amazing collection. Some of them I remember rreading in middle school. Also quick question are you thinking of getting the new witcher hardcovers?
I would love the get the bar over Witcher books! Beautiful artwork. It’s just hard for me to justify paying for books I technically already own for a second time!
I also want to read just about every book series on your shelf lol…
those bookshelves 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Thank you!!
I'm been reallly wanting to re-read the dark tower series..but thinking about doing an extended re-read.
That would be awesome! I’ve been itching to get back to Dark Tower again, myself!
came back to this video at specifically suggest reading the Clockwork Angels series by Kevin J Anderson and Neil Pert who is the drummer of RUSH. It’s an epic steam punk adventure and is absolutely amazing and heartwarming and all of the good things you need in a story! I don’t see these books talked about much but they are just so worth it and got me back into reading. It’s also based on the album if you have ever listened 🤷🏼♀️
Big fan of RUSH! Raised on RUSH! Didn’t know Neil co-authored anything, so that alone has piqued my interest!! Thank you!!
@@iangubeli My fiancé is the same! He has been to many shows before Neil passed. You will appreciate them a lot then! You’re welcome ☺️
We’re impatiently waiting for the theology book tour 😂
You literally just lit a fire under me! I am actually working on that project, so that will probably be my next vid!!
@@MafaldaFernandes02 hey, that’s awesome! Welcome!! The Green Bone Saga is so worth it!! Great characters, fun action!
U should do a review of the witcher series! I'm interested in reading it but I would like to know your thoughts.
I will do a tour of my theology, philosophy, etc, all that stuff soon! I should’ve done it on this video, but I thought it would be too long!
I reread Chronicles of Narnia, I think last year? Have you tried the Bright Empires series by Stephen R. Lawhead? I currently need to finish it but it's a really interesting fantasy time travel series. Watership Down was one of my dad's favorites.
I have never heard of Bright Empires🤔 I will for sure be adding that to the TBR!!
You have a great book collection.
Great collection! Out of curiosity, do you generally prefer paperbacks, because I don't see many hardbacks there. Or is it so that you can buy more books instead of spending more for fewer?
Yes, yes, and yes!😂😂 I like the feel of paperbacks better. And, they are considerably more affordable!
@@iangubeli😂😂 ok cool!
I have two shelves for my books and they are organized in alphabetical order by author and then by book.
Love it!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen your shelves🤔
I will let you know.
I also am having really busy weeks and for my new videos is not the best but what matters is to do what you like when you have time to do it so don't worry too much about it just think about what you like to say and do and you'll be fine
Thank you so much!!! Yeah, I don’t know why I was stressing about this. RUclips is a for fun, and a hobby!! It’s not my job🙈
@@iangubeli you stress out because you care, but yeah let it be fun
Love your videos ❤
Have you/are you going to read any more Stephen King? Can’t wait for your vlogs ☕️
Thank you! And YES!! The King is definitely someone I am going to delve into more. The Dark Tower is all I have read from him, so I would love to get into his stuff! Any good places to start??
@@iangubeli if you don’t want to read his horror Billy Summers was a excellent read.
@@NicolaLinley Billy Summers sounds good! And I am actually interested in his horror. I want to read IT sometime this summer, I just don’t know when I can make the time😂
Haha I’ve started IT twice with the best intent the writing is excellent… yet it’s a big commitment - would love to read it this year still though.
Great bookshelf!
Thank you!!
My fiancé DEVOURED all of the Dune books and he says it’s the greatest sci-fi books
They’re incredible books!!
Dark tower is amazing if you care about the journey, but I care much more about endings (I like to see things come together in epic fashion) and I absolutely hated dark tower (and first law) because the endings were just so underwhelming 😢
The Broken Empire Series sounds good. A psychopath who is hilarious..I must read. Would love to know about you alls dog he’s just gorgeous and huge.
The allegory in Narnia isn’t for everyone. I have actually never read His Dark Materials. I need to!!
This was a very fun video! Can you link your wife's channel so I can check out her shelf as well?
Thank you!! Her channel is title “Ashlynn Calee.” The link wasn’t working for some reason!
@@iangubeli Awesome! I subbed to you both! Since you love fantasy, I highly recommend the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind, it's one of my personal favorites!
reading vlog , reading vlog !!!!
I’m excited for it, too!! Thanks!!
is The prince of thornes trilogy more grimdark than The First Law Trilogy??
Yeah, they can be a bit much. I do skip some of the more graphic, personal scenes between characters. It’s not what I’m into!
I always skip any animal scenes and it will take stars away for me. There is no sense in it 😬
@@melissamartin9132 agree 100%
Kind of a random but related question, but do you own comics as well or only novels?
we missed youuuuuuuuu. can you do a book video with your wife? :)
I missed you all, too! Ash and I have been kicking around ideas for a video w could to together on my channel!! So, hopefully coming soon!
@@iangubeli yayyyy that would be wonderful 😊
I have to retry Joe. Loved some and some I didn’t. Sigh
I tried with Malazan, but I just couldn’t get into it.
I may be in that camp soon😂 geez, it’s a hard read!
what places you recommend to get fantasy and sci fi books, I been looking with no success.
Honestly, I go to Barnes & Noble for my fantasy. Amazon also has a great selection (has pretty much everything you could possibly want in terms of fantasy books), and it’s pretty affordable.
You nailed the "keeping it fun" element sir😂 had it down cold🤌
I came to get your opinion on The Witcher series and you didn’t talk about it at all 😢
I plan on doing a big Witcher vlog over the summer! Definitely start with “The Last Wish.”
If you have read them, then I just vomited randomly!!
@@jackielowrey3032 of the Witcher books I have read 🤌🤌🤌 incredible! I think it’s a fabulous series to jump into!
@@iangubeli Then you should also look into the Hussite trilogy by same author, is historical fiction with a touch of fantasy.
Are you on Goodreads?
I am! My profile is just my name!
This would be me if I tried to do RUclips 😂🤣
watching this while reading the hobbit 🫡
AYYYYE!! So excited for you!! One of the best!
Ugh! Responerbilleries🙄🙃 🤣 I’m not a fan of those… that being said, I’m not sure why I’m a manager at my job🤣🤷🏼♀️
Hahaha! I feel the same way about my job sometimes😂 I don’t like expectations, and so what do I do? Pick a job where people expect A LOT from me😂
As a Christian, do you feel negatively affected by reading books with violence, magic, etc.?
To be honest, no. Being filled with the Spirit and being given discernment by the Word, it makes it easier to interact with content like that. Violence and magic don’t really concern me. They’re basic parts of a lot of fantasy, even fantasy written by famous Christian’s such as Tolkien or Lewis. It’s sexual content that concerns me. But even then, I just skip it!
What the heck?? Those Narnia books are all out of order.
