Sorry people but Ancestry DOES NOT LISTEN to anything we have to say about the website or even complaints. In fact they do not even answer complaints or suggestions.
I agree with you. These should be included in the subscription value. Other external programs already have it, and whether you use Family Tree Maker, MyHeritage, or RootsMagic, you are probably already using those functions in the external programs. I have one of those, and I will not pay Ancestry for something I am already doing in another program. Thank you for your video.
The only way I see to print a list of all people in your tree is to go to the tree search function and down at the bottom is a List of All People option. From there you get a paginated alphabetical list. I have over 1400 people in my tree, so I have 14 pages if I max out the number of people per page. From there I can highlight the list and copy and paste into Excel. This preserves the Name, Birth and Death Columns and the links to the person's profile. If I do the copy paste 14 times I have and Excel spreadsheet with everyone in my tree. Obviously not optimal, but a way to do it for printing.
Perhaps a pay-it-forward program could be implemented so that those with means could help those who want to research. I am seeing that in a lot of other industries and this could be another.
I’m not a big fan of the My Ancestry Feed.. I wish /plead that we could have our own tailorable entry screen. I’m here for the research.. not the kool aid …. Love your channel ❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the info. Ancestry is charging $9.99 per month for these features, which is really overpriced. It's cheaper to buy Family Tree Maker and sync it with the Ancestry tree, using FTM's extensive range of tools for managing the data in the Ancestry tree.
How about Roots Magic? That is what I use to download my Ancestry tree and all of the attached documents to in one clean sweep!. Each document that I attach to my relative on Ancestry, I also download the same document to that person(s) genealogy file folder that I keep on my computer. I also then attach and transcribe the file to my “working” genealogy computer program, such as Ancestral Quest or Family Tree Mac. And I also save my program and files to the iCloud and to an external backup drive. You can never be too sure.
Family Tree Maker has been discontinued and my heritage costs about the same as Ancestry. Then there is the demon Family Search which allows any nutter to edit your tree. I am tired of my long hours of work being edited by them. Ancestry is expensive, but it is private and a good tool I just wish it was affordable. I do wish Family Tree Maker was still available.
Yes! I was just thinking of the duplicate person… my paternal ancestors have been in a small village under a 1000 people since before 1500 so there is a lot of pedigree collapse… it would be so nice to get a list of people in my tree who have identical or near identical names and then be able to compare them side by side to see if they are the same person... Because on my maternal side I just have the repetition of names where they are different individuals.
Family Tree Maker has both...in fact they have "fact checker" and reports & charts...plus more....No extra charge....all available in one time payment and upgrades are at no cost if you do so within the timeframe allowed...
Ancestry is on its way to loosing my business. They're starting to nickel and dime us on services. It's not enough that you pay for, let's say world explorer for example. Then they add "checker" that you have to pay another 9.99 a month for.. funny thing is I started a tree on the family tree site that's free and it alerts me to duplicates and mistakes, not to mention I found documents on family tree that I couldn't even begin to find on ancestry. So I'm starting to ask my self what am I paying them for?.. A glitchy terrible app and crappie service
Super helpful video! Ancestry really needs to do more with all the data hidden away in family trees, they're really falling behind the competition. Also totally scummy to charges even more money.
Fact Checker and Reports & Charts is free when you puporse FamilyTree Maker Software to down to your own computer. Oh no extra charge for these features PLUS you have many more features...Like printing out an index everyone in your tree by last name, birth date or death date. No membership required.
Woo! The check facts or tree checker is going to be a big help for both the working trees (where I'm doing my speculative research) and in helping to clear up my decade old mistakes from when I first started.
The question about a full list of everyone in the tree - I get one by going to the Tree Search>List of all People; change the display to the max per page (100) and then copy the rows and paste into a spreadsheet - move to next page, repeat. It's not elegant, but it's functional. The cool thing about this method is it retains the hyperlink to the person's profile page.
I am so BUMMED with Ancestry. That's the politest word I could think of. I've been working on genealogy for almost 65 years, and joined Ancestry in the 1990s when they had that little box telling how many databases they now had. I've literally paid them thousands of dollars, have thoroughly enjoyed what they have done, but now I'm old. I just wish they gave very long term old customers a big discount. I can't afford another add on fee for "Pro" tools, so I actually stopped your video halfway through and am just going to feel sorry for myself for a while.
I am in the same boat. I am an old geezer now and I can't find anyone that wants all this info that I spent years gathering. Customer loyalty is means nothing to big business. If you quit Ancestry they may ask you to come back at a discounted fee for six months.
If you have any ancestors from Passaic/Bergen/Essex counties in NJ 1700s I would actually love that information! Or if any one of them came to the US from the Netherlands in the 1600s I would be grateful for that info as well. (I know there’s a very slim chance but it’s worth asking) Just remember that there are younger people who are newer to genealogy who appreciate all you’ve done so much, people as dedicated as you are the reason we can find so much information!
Can you do an episode explaining the DNA Matches Beta? It appears that they took away a lot of choices regarding how a match is related to you. You have a great show. Thank you.
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger.
@@GenealogyTV haha! Here I was thinking $9.99 once off similar to how traits was done. I will pass and I’ll send them some feedback that if they’re going to sell a membership with the wording “Everything on Ancestry” and “All Access” it should probably include everything on Ancestry with all access!
I am saddened that they moved several things to a pay wall, right now they're not imperative for me, but it was nice to know they were there (and used them often)
I mean it IS a subscription site. If you have a subscription, you get the features recently put behind the pay wall. It's not a second pay wall. That would not be cool.
But it IS a 2nd pay wall. I have a world membership and I looked at the new tools today. They want an additional $10/month for them. I don't need them that much.
I'm looking at the new Family Groups that you touched on, and I went in and started down the path until I got to the "Name your family group" and wondered if more that one family group is possible. If so, I would at least start with the 2 sides of my family, if not, then that changes how I name the family group. Will need more info (like video walkthroughs) before continuing. I already have 2 Facebook groups based upon my mother & father to share findings, which is especially good considering my father is from England, and meeting with them personally is not going to happen and they have no connection with my mother's side. I like to keep them separate. Thanks for the great videos.
Oh, just found out, yes, more than one Family Group is available. I just created 2 to try out, one for mom's side, one for dad's. Honestly, I don't expect much interaction as so far I get a "that's cool" and maybe a cursory look at the tree. The Facebook pages I created have more engagement. We'll see how this goes. It would be nice if there was a collaboration with FaceBook as that is where the majority of my relatives seem to congregate.
Hi Connie, thanks for the update. What is your honest opinion of whether you think thiese "pro" tools are worth the additional monthly fee, or if Ancestry should incude them in "the price of admission" ? Thanks. ❤❤❤
While I love the tools, it's up to you to determine if it is worth the cost. I was surprised they did this. I do like the tools and find them useful. You can do quality research without them.
Disappointing that the new tools are only available in the US, hopefully they will be become available to all of us. This could explain why I never had access to the fan chart expansion function. I saw your update in September. I have been checking regularly since then, but no luck, guess I can stop checking now :) Thanks, Penny
Thank you. This is the first year that I'm going to RootsTech, and maybe they will have some of these other features out by then or demonstrate them. I have a few questions for them when I get there. Hope to see you there.
When I read the title of this video, I thought, "The main tool I need is to be able to create descendancy reports." Voila! It doesen't seem available on my subscription, yet. Can't wait unitl it does. One big project I "completed" last year was documenting the descendants of my father's paternal grandparents. He had at least 49 first cousins on his father's side! I've documented around 1000 descendants and would love to create a report showing them all.
Connie, thanks so much for another very helpful and informative video. As with so much of what Ancestry is doing it is very unfortunate these new features will only be available when a person pays more (and only good for those in the US)! All this from a company with revenue of ONLY one BILLION in 2022!!! Oh yeah, this is exactly how they record revenue like that. 👎
I hear you. Regarding the U.S. only. They typically start with U.S. and then roll out to everyone else in phases to make sure everything is working properly. In other countries, they have a different home page and functionality, just FYI.
My Reunion genealogy program has had all of the new tool features for over 20 years! You can also print a list of everyone in your tree. I think ancestry is decades behind in these features, and the fact they are charging extra for them is ridiculous!
Thanks for the information. Your videos are always informative and worth watching. When you said new Ancestry tools, I got excited and had visions of full shared segment data and a chromosome browser. That I would pay for, but I'm not sure I would pay extra for what I've seen so far.
Thanks for your RUclips presentations. I'm confused as to what the Ancestry "PRO" account is, with the additional tools. Could you or someone help? Thanks!
Thanks for your channel membership. The Pro Tools will consist of four new features, Insites, Maps, Check Facts (aka Tree Checker) and Charts & Reports. This will be a $9.99 per month add-on to your existing membership. Two of the features were show in this video. The rest I have not seen yet. Stay tuned. More videos coming in the next few weeks.
Something I would like to see is a way to add a nickname to the name area, whether it's by capitalizing, italicizing, adding a separate area... or something else.
and let's not forget the hard-to-find-women who are known only by their nicknames: Zella instead of Ozella; Mecia instead of Armecia; Elle instead of Eling; and then there are people who deliberately and/or not deliberately changed their names. And how about Native Americans, et al, who had their Indian name plus their English name that had no resemblance whatsoever to their Native name...
If there is any chance the nickname is going to be used in a document, add another name fact and set one of the names as preferred. The others will default to an alternate name. That way the search functions will search for name facts, but not for Also Known As facts.
I am disappointed that the Relationship To Me field in a profile does not distinguish between a full relationship and half relationship. My half 1st cousin and full 1st cousin are both labeled "paternal 1st cousin". I mentioned this to Christa Cowen over a year ago. She replied that she would look into it, but nothing has changed.
I also wish they would list ALL relationships. My paternal line has been in a small village in Switzerland of less than 800 since before 1500. To say there is much pedigree collapse would be an understatement😂
This is crucial for my work with unknown parentage cases. How hard would it be to make that distinction? That tree already indicates there is a different parent.
Where do I go to add this to my Ancestry subscription? I've clicked the upgrade tab, but there is nothing there about it on my screen. Thanks. Keep up the great work! Have a blessed day.
Remember when I said that I was invited to participate in view future ideas for Ancestry? The pro tools was one of the ideas asked by the developer. I said I would pay extra for higher level tools. Looks like they are giving that a go.
I currently use Family Tree Maker & sync to Ancestry, but with that long period where the sync was disrupted, I used Ancestry exclusively and really missed the tools that FTM provides. I was hoping that Ancestry would continue to expand their tools, but imagine the amount of computing power that would take as producing reports are intensive. So that is where I think the pro tools can further that possibility to help offset the costs, as I imagine a smaller percentage of Ancestry users are intensive, dedicated users. I can foresee that day where custom reports could be available. The thought that FTM might eventually no longer be available concerns me and thinking that Ancestry is ramping up in those tool areas gives me hope.
I have an old (2011) version of Family Tree Maker, which I'm using on a Windows 10 machine. The only thing I use FTM for presently is to list all places, something I'm attempting to resolve differences and reduce the number of entries. You mentioned Ancestry not permitting you to list all persons in your file. FTM does index everyone.
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger.
I'd love to see a "View Relationship" button on every profile page. Sometimes, especially when sorting through extended family connections, a name pops up, and I'm like, "Wait, is this John Smith, my grand, or his cousin John?" It gets confusing! Like, "Who is Marg Fritz? Oh, she's cousin John's wife." Having a relationship button, similar to what Family Search has, would be super helpful. My family tree has so many twists and turns; I often get lost in it!
I’m confused on the pricing thing…are you saying that this is an ADDITIONAL cost ($120/year) for someone like myself who is already paying the highest tier price? That’s insane…that would make my annual fees $500+ annual for this website.
Yep, it's additional. I hope you're not paying "retail" for your Everything membership. You can save a large chunk by buying yourself a gift certificate when promotions are run on them. Currently (through the end of the year based on the small print) they're at 30% off. Once or twice during the year there's been 40% off and for five days starting BF and ending Cyber Monday, they're 50%. So part depends on your renewal date. You can always buy a 6mo GC to help get renewal aligned with a sale plus the GC lets you choose the start date (within 90 days of the purchase date). Something to think about
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger.
@@GenealogyTV I just got a pop-up to subscribe to the pro-tools and it's $19.99 a month, not $9.99. Also, now that I subscribed to the tools. The "view in tree" option on an individual's profile is gone from the menu where the notes/comments, tools, etc. I use view in tree constantly. Don't like that it's gone.
At the end of the video it showed pro tools is $9.99 a month? Will that be in addition to what I already pay for my ancestry account? If that’s true I don’t like that at all.
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger.
I am considering the add, maybe just try it for two or three months to see if I use that much. I do have a question that puzzles me. I understand that in Ancestry and most other sites, living people are listed as "private". My question is why,, when I can find the name, etc usually in the very next source because it's in the public records. Why make it seem that the information is "private" when it really isn't? If you do a show on viewers questionns, maybe this is a question that you could address. Love your segments.
I wish there was a way to correct cousins with mental health issues (the kind that make it harder for them to make some critical assessments needed for accurate genealogy in large families) when they post incorrect information. Some information is lost in some branches of the family over time, and the ones who don’t realize they need to collaborate with others (because some ancestors lied on documents back in the day to avoid discrimination or being found by an abuser). . . And that’s aside from government mistakes on dates, or the fact death certificates are notorious for being incorrect info because the only person physically there at the time is likely to guess rather than say they don’t know.
I turned on the research tools, like you said, but I still don’t see these new options. 😢 I have had World Explorer membership for a decade. Do I need a higher level of membership?
I see those now under the Tools drop down, but when I try to select Check Facts or Charts and Reports, I’m taken to a page asking me to join Ancestry and “Upgrade to view record”.
Great video. Thanks so much! What level of access is this going to be available for? I don't see the new tools on the profiles, but I don't know if that's because of my account type or because they haven't rolled it out yet. Thanks!
I don’t think it’s rolled out just yet. It’s supposed to be rolled out today but I don’t believe it. It’ll be a $10 add-on to your existing membership.
Are they ever going to enable 'merges' of profiles. I keep coming across (and in my own database) two spouses, same name and birthdate, with the same children, but I can't figure out in the edit panel how to 'merge' those identical profiles.
I call ancestry tonight about the pro tools and got told that they were in Beta and would be free to those with memberships in about a year. However other people are telling me that ancestry is telling people false information and that the pro tools are not part of memberships, but are a 10 dollars a month on top of your membership fee.
I've been comparing what Ancestry has released already to FTM. Ancestry is charging but only offering part of what's available. In addition, Family Tree Maker provide additional options. For example, to print a family group sheet you can print the photo that you have associated with the person. You can print media for a person or entire media. That allows you from uploading duplicate photos. You can print name report by surnames, every name in your tree or just the immediately or extended family you are working with. Question: Under FTM for location, if you put add an incorrect county or city, it will alert you it may be incorrect. Will Ancestry provide the same option or just a map. Thank you for making us smarter researchers.
All services use a standardized location. Those will show on the Ancestry map (to the best of my knowledge). Those locations are the ones you see in the drop down menu when you start to type a location. I have found discrepancies between the locations on FTM and Ancestry even after syncing. Just FYI.
@@GenealogyTV Thank you so much for your reply. So have I, depending on when the county was established also. Your videos are so valuable and very much appreciated.
I am curious as to why they will no longer allow you to download your entire gallery file? I did it day before yesterday for one of my trees and was going to do it today for my other and now it will no longer work. Is this feature now going to be in the Pro tools subscription package? Thanks.
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger.
The Pro Tools will be an add-on to an existing membership at $9.99 per month. Otherwise, I'm not aware of any, other than the DNA kit sales. You can get a free guest account to build a tree and see some records, but not all.
It may not completely help you but I would check into it. Look to see if there are any deals for guest memberships. Sometimes there is a discount on that, and you purchase it for either 6 or 12 months, but it does not renew. I want to say that I looked into a few months ago and it was like 30% off. But that was awhile ago.
I check the gift memberships and ask my family to do that for Christmas! Click on your profile in upper right corner. In drop down menu is gift membership!❤
In Canada I pay $300 per year for World Deluxe membership. And I cannot see any of these features you are describing! No charts and reports, check facts etc. what am I missing?
thanks for the info and the video :) I do think, however, in these times where people are struggling financially, it won't go down with many subscribers than yet another membership tier has been created...I certainly can't afford an extra $120/year US (closer to $180 Cdn)...of course, my genealogy software of choice, gives me all that and way more, so I can ignore it... Still a bit tone-deaf of Ancestry to not realize this may end up leaving a bad taste in peoples mouths and potentially lose them subscribers...
I am really interested in the Check Facts feature, but I am unclear how you access the Pro level tools? Is this only on a higher membership level or something that is coming soon/ still in Beta? I have the World Level, but don't see the options that I see on yours in the video.
One more comment, I like the reporting function, but maybe allow to show sources like Family Tree Software does. ?? I have my tree linked to FTM and do my reporting from there as I can export and publish with WORD for a more professional look with the ancestry logo all over the place ….
STILL looking for a very useful tool for us genetic genealogists who help other with their DNA research. That is the ability to see how two matches are DNA matches (the centimorgans) are sharing. Right not the shared match is helpful but not as good as see how much DNA your match A shares with your match B.
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger.
Thanks for the updates! What is the add on I need to get Charts & Reports? It looks like your Mary Albertson is the daughter of my 6th great grand father. If so, I have her birthdate as 17 Jan 1745.
Pro Tools will be released on Tuesday 12/12/23 unless they change the date again. Regarding Mary Albertson, do you have a source for her birth date? That seems about right. I really have not researched her.
Thanks, Love seeing the new tools. Getting tired of all these services now charging for extras. I paid for your service, whether it is to do genealogy or watch a movie. Please don't charge me more. Won't be adding these to my subscription.
I don't know why you would pay an extra amount a month, when you can use Family Tree Maker, sync with Ancestry and then print reports and other tools from FTM.
What confuses me is that I can see e.g. the check facts button on my account, but when I click it tells me I need a Germany Premium membership. That doesn't makes sense, because first, I hold an International Deluxe membership, which actually costs a lot more than just the one for only German documents, and secondly, from the comments here I got the info that so far the new features are only available to US members. So why keeps Ancestry telling me to "upgrade" to a Germany Premium membership to access those functions?
I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about. On Ancestry, you can delete a person from the tree but going to their profile, in the upper right corner click Edit and then Delete person. If you just want to disconnect one person from another, go to the profile of either person, in the upper right go to Edit, Edit Relationships, the X out the person to disconnect them from the other person.
It's a holdover from the old days when we capped all surnames to make them easier to find in printed reports. I'm slowly changing them. It makes no difference anymore.
They'll likely get there. I think most if not all of the new features are Beta (not ready for full release) tested in the US with only a small portion (those who sign up for Beta) of the membership. Then, when ready, it's rolled out to full membership which I would think, though I'm not certain, would include international. There may be separate roll-outs in certain situations
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger.
Family Tree Maker gives you good reporting functions and the tree print selection can go at least 13 generations but its not as pretty, it seems to be limited by the memory of your computer as that many generations can be a huge number of people. It also has fact checking that can be customized. It's synchronization with Ancestry works pretty well too.
I posted similar above. As for memory on a computer, just load everything to an external drive or USB key....it's like an additional to your computer hard drive except added memory is on stick. I have an external hard drive with 1TB of memory and that's small compared to what's out there now. Other plus....you get to bring your family tree with you where your travel...
@@cynthiamcdonagh4458 I was talking about RAM not file storage. The amount of processing being undertaken and held in processors and memory chips just stalls the PC.
Hi, I am deeply interested in my ancestry but because my DNA breakdown is so varied, and I no longer live in my birth country, the countries I'd have to visit to do research and view tangible ancestor documentation that is not available online is untenable. I wish there was a way to pay Ancestry to have a professional genealogist in any country become available to do the work for us, connecting all the dots, on the ground. A lot of old Caribbean documents are hard to find, especially birth certificates. And many of the older generation never seemed that interested in family facts and dates. Compound that with lack of photos and non-existing (or destroyed) paperwork and the ancestry trail went cold for me very quickly.
I'm just so salty about the 120 bucks a year on top of my 260 buck all access membership. That is a BIG increase for a few filters. I want those filters, but not that much
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger. Although... if you're in the U.S., you should have the basic fan chart I would think.
Be aware that the Tools drop down has Check Facts and Charts and Reports both with locks. When you go to them, you get a page that says you need to upgrade to US Discovery to View Record. This is very confusing (I am at World Explorer, the tier above) and a phone call yielded no help. It is unclear if this will be an additional subscription or is just not fully launched and the person on the phone could only tell me they are not fully launched. Why they would program the link that way is beyond me.
Not at the moment, but stay tuned. I asked Ancestry for that very option a couple days ago and they made it sound like it was possible to add that feature
@@GenealogyTV So on the home page just under where it says "go to tree" you can see how many people that are in your tree. If you click on it, it will take you to a list that shows you everyone that is in your tree, alphabetically by surname.
It is an extra $14.99 a month on top of your already Monthly subs.
Ohhh I didn't realize copy/paste would do that.
I think they're going to add it. I asked for it and they made it sound like it is possible. We'll see.
I hear you.
Thank you SO much for letting us know what is coming up and what we missed with the latest updates. No one is doing that anymore!
Thanks... Stay tuned. More coming.
Thank you for keeping us updated.... you are a gem ....
Thanks
Thanks for keeping us informed dear Connie!
Can you do an episode explaining the DNA Matches Beta? It appears that they took away a lot of choices regarding how a match is related to you. You have a great show. Thank you.
Thanks for the fan chart advice Connie. Great episode.
Thanks
That tree checker is going to be awesome….cant wait! Thanks
I don't have "Check facts pro" or "Charts & reports pro" do these features come with a different level membership at Ancestry? Please help.
It will be available for purchase as an add-on, for all levels on Tuesday.... 12/12/23.
Thanks, Connie! This will be a day one purchase for me. Excellent additions.
I need to get on Ancestry and try thses new tools out. Thanks for the info Connie.
I have been checking regularly since then, but no luck, guess I can stop checking now :)
Thanks,
Penny
Thank you. This is the first year that I'm going to RootsTech, and maybe they will have some of these other features out by then or demonstrate them. I have a few questions for them when I get there. Hope to see you there.
Yes! Make sure we connect at RootsTech Matt.
It’s coming soon
In your dreams.
@@GenealogyTV 😆
Thanks! I haven’t seen any of those updates yet.
Thanks!
Hey... thanks for the Super Thanks! I do appreciate it.
All the Buddy's, Dick's and people who get called by something other than their born name would appreciate this!
Especially if the nickname is on some records/other sources... like Mike vs Michael.
and let's not forget the hard-to-find-women who are known only by their nicknames: Zella instead of Ozella; Mecia instead of Armecia; Elle instead of Eling; and then there are people who deliberately and/or not deliberately changed their names. And how about Native Americans, et al, who had their Indian name plus their English name that had no resemblance whatsoever to their Native name...
Use the Also Known As fact for nicknames that you would never see in a document.
Good point.
It's not out yet but it will be called Pro Tools. They'll likely put a banner up when it launches. Stay tuned.
@@GenealogyTV Ok, great. Thanks! I look forward to it. :)
@@GenealogyTV Wondering if they are waiting until RootsTech to roll it out?
Hooray!
But are they really higher level tools or just tools they already had now behind a pay wall?
I wish you hadn't said you'd pay extra. These should be included in existing subscriptions.
@@reneelasswell9221 I was being honest, either you pay extra for higher tier tools, or EVERYONE pays extra for new tools.
Yes. Thx
I'm confused about the Pro for $9.99. How do we get that?

@@wesleysmith4884 Oh. I thought the Pro add on is only in the US for right now?
I'd love to see a "View Relationship" button on every profile page. Sometimes, especially when sorting through extended family connections, a name pops up, and I'm like, "Wait, is this John Smith, my grand, or his cousin John?" It gets confusing! Like, "Who is Marg Fritz? Oh, she's cousin John's wife." Having a relationship button, similar to what Family Search has, would be super helpful. My family tree has so many twists and turns; I often get lost in it!
You're not alone. :)
I’m confused on the pricing thing…are you saying that this is an ADDITIONAL cost ($120/year) for someone like myself who is already paying the highest tier price? That’s insane…that would make my annual fees $500+ annual for this website.
No. There is not a second pay wall.

Can’t wait to get these new features! Thanks for the update. I looked for the handout under Community tab after I logged in but didn’t find it?
Hi Kathleen, it is in the community tab now. I had clicked a button too early. It's there now.
It's a privacy issue. Plus it is a CYA issue for Ancestry.
Which membership level do you have to have to see all of these.? I have the Family Group but not seeing more
You should see it available for all levels on Tuesday.... 12/12/23.
I don't see the Check Facts Pro or Charts & Reports Pro in my "Show Research Tools"; how do I get them? Thanks.
They are part of the new Pro Tools add-on. It is rolling out in phases.
I'm excited to try the new tools.
Sadly, I still don't have the Fan View available. Does anyone know if this is still in beta?
Check back on Tuesday. I heard yesterday (after this was record) that most of the features will be released on Tuesday 12/12/23.
I'd love to see all the lost people who are in my ancestry program. I'm sure I have lost unconnected branches. But how do I find them?.
How do you get the pro tools? I don’t see them even though I clicked on view research tools.

Are they ever going to enable 'merges' of profiles. I keep coming across (and in my own database) two spouses, same name and birthdate, with the same children, but I can't figure out in the edit panel how to 'merge' those identical profiles.
Here is a video I did a few years ago on how to merge duplicate ancestors.ruclips.net/video/GVvmoOoLR4w/видео.html Merging starts at about 5:43.
I call ancestry tonight about the pro tools and got told that they were in Beta and would be free to those with memberships in about a year.
However other people are telling me that ancestry is telling people false information and that the pro tools are not part of memberships, but are a 10 dollars a month on top of your membership fee.
I’m being told it is $9.99 a month on top of your current membership.
@@GenealogyTV And that is currently correct. I was told incorrect information by Ancestry customer service.

@@GenealogyTV my account has been downgraded to a guest account already.
It may not completely help you but I would check into it. Look to see if there are any deals for guest memberships. No, but I've added it to the list to talk to the developers about it.
One more comment, I like the reporting function, but maybe allow to show sources like Family Tree Software does. ?? I have my tree linked to FTM and do my reporting from there as I can export and publish with WORD for a more professional look with the ancestry logo all over the place ….
Good idea on the "show sources." I'll pass that along.

Good question... adding to the list of Q's.

After correcting the errors, how do I delete that person from the list of errors?
I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about. On Ancestry, you can delete a person from the tree but going to their profile, in the upper right corner click Edit and then Delete person. If you just want to disconnect one person from another, go to the profile of either person, in the upper right go to Edit, Edit Relationships, the X out the person to disconnect them from the other person.
You've probably answered this in other videos, but why are some surnames in the tree fully capitalized and others not?
It's a holdover from the old days when we capped all surnames to make them easier to find in printed reports. I'm slowly changing them. It makes no difference anymore.
So disappointing we don't have any of the new features here in New Zealand. 😪

I thought the "Tree Checker" looked interesting. I simply can't afford another $120. I had to drop back to basic membership this year .
I hear you.
Hi,
I am deeply interested in my ancestry but because my DNA breakdown is so varied, and I no longer live in my birth country, the countries I'd have to visit to do research and view tangible ancestor documentation that is not available online is untenable.
Ancestry does have researchers for hire.
How do you even see the Pro tools? Even clicking "Show Research Tools" does not add them to my screen . . .
Never mind. I see the same question has already been asked . . . and answered . . . a few times. I'll check back on Tuesday.

I'm just so salty about the 120 bucks a year on top of my 260 buck all access membership. That is a BIG increase for a few filters. I want those filters, but not that much
I hear you.
Dang it, I don't have the new tools yet :(
They changed the release date to Tuesday 12/12/23 for U.S. only.
If you sync FTM or Rootsmagic these tools are nor available.
I still do not have the fan chart … they never rolled it out to me.
They changed the release date to 12/12 (Tuesday). For now it is U.S. only but for any level of paid membership as an add-on at $9.99 per month. Don't shoot the messenger. Although... if you're in the U.S., you should have the basic fan chart I would think.
@GenealogyTV hmmmm… I am in the U.S. and I’ve been checking for months. Will look again tomorrow.
It now (3pm NY) is gone...it just let's you toggle on/off show tools.😂
@@teresazephrobsc7281 I just looked while on my iPad and noticed that too! I did tell the person that they may get a lot of calls about this.😹
It was rolling out yesterday while you were doing this. It will be a $9.99 /month add-on to any existing paid membership, currently only in the U.S.
@@GenealogyTV Thank you, Connie! I will have to be patient and wait, just like I did for every Census release!
@@GenealogyTV Thank for that. More money of course. I use a program on my computer with those functions so don't think I'll fork our the money.
Unless they changed things there is a way to see everyone in your tree and print them off.
You can print this as is; or you can copy and paste it into either a word doc or excel spreadsheet.
