5 people downvoted this going "i give up i quit playing" after watching this. dave's a friend. but I swear, hes turning into the guthrie govan of percussion. no matter the style, he makes it sound like its all hes ever played somehow. good on ya dude.
+Apocalypse Experience yep. very rarely do you see him with anything besides that stack. I know that for Mars Volta he had a prototype 15/17 max stack made, but you would know if it was that one. this is the regular 12/14 I think.
+Buutch37 It is for sure a DW Classics series kit in Tiger Oyster Finish Ply. DW posted a picture on their Facebook. I'm gonna guess that the sizes are 8x10, 8x12, 16x16, 16x18, 16x22, 6.5x14
People are gonna hate me - I'm not seeing anything that makes me go "Damn!" Maybe some licks at the end but otherwise nothing over my abilities. Sorry. Just calling it as I see it.
James Bryce It's your opinion, nothing wrong with that. But if speed or eye-opening chops is what you're looking for, watch his drum solo (42 min mark) from his Mars Volta drum cam.
He's not just about playing licks. His solos are telling a story and being present which is how soloing should be. Oh yeah and if all you have taken away or looked at from his performance is acouple of licks than i know you could not create a solo with the same technique and groove like this one.
He never ceases to amaze me
Machine. Huge respect for Dave Elitch.
Pure artistic mastery I'm digging whatever this cat is playing thanks
Awesome... One of my favourite drummers!

Awesome skills and technique!
That was so dirty that I had to take three showers after watching it. That controlllllll.
I'm liking that bit of odd-timed playing and those fills are nice!
I am happy that getting a haircut didn't cost him his superpowers..
sounds so great, very dynamic playing!
So clean, and so articulate
awesome control/dynamics...great drummer
those doubles on the floors :D killer
Amazing!
I can't even comprehend those drum fills..
+Riccardo Spadano Me too, man... Definitely a lot of diddles in there
One of the few times I’ve heard DW drums sound good! Maybe they need
Coated heads. Dave and these drums sound amazing.
so controlled playing I like it
I thought it was Matthew Santoro playing drums... :p
in every stile he plays he is a masterpiece!!!!
That sound
THE HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
future sounds grooves
Man Joe Rogan is killing the drums!
what's the tiny stack close to his hihats?
Don Vito 9" Sabian Radia Nano hats
anyone know what cymbals he’s using!? Thanks :)
Sabian
Anyone know what stack he has to his right?
+brandonlmbrt I'm fairly confident it was Portnoy's 14 Max Stax.

+Mitch ZImmerman
Does anyone know if it's the high or low stack?
well, the 12/14 technically is the low stack I'm pretty sure. It's the biggest in the regualr line of Max Stax
I actually thought this was Matt Santoro
So Joe Rogan is a black belt in drumming as well.
what kit it is?
Dw collectors series maple/mahogany by the sound. looks like 10x8, 12x9, 14x12, 16x14, 22x18, 14x5.5
Jazz series slipped my mind however...both finish and sound wise. Not sure thou
