Even when you try to pull the top half of the seat belt as tigh to lock it out you end up with an overflow of excess seatbelt on the bottom which still leaves it unstable

You are supposed to pull the seat belt tight and lock it before use use the ratchet, so its locked and not loose like you were talking about at the end.

this cannot be done because the belt lengths are different before and after the ratchet, and the manual does not mention this step :(

@@TechscrewHome it dose in my video and the official video on maxi cosi RUclips. You pull the tension out of the seat belt to lock it like if you were in a crash then ratchet it.
