Former small town volunteer FF and NPS Type 2 wildland firefighter. Thanks for the new book and your vids, I can relate. It's a tough life, but for the right person it can be an awesome career.
I am retired now. Timber Forester. On call fire fighter. Some times off forest. Other times on district. Males. 70 %. We treated the girls well. My fire nick name was Viscious.
This line of work is definetely a life choice. It takes alot from is in so many different ways. You forfeit so many things at home but for me it was worth it.
1000% relate to needing to work twice as hard as the guys... I would spend all winter training and hitting the gym while my male co-workers were sitting on a beach in Costa Rica drinking beer. 😂 The women I know in fire work SO HARD just to be able to keep up
I worked in a rural FS ranger district. an hour to get groceries one way. we used to say, you want to get a fire? go buy groceries so it can all go bad.
I always said who I worked for was more important than where I was working. I had great supervisors who would never ask anything they wouldn't do then I had captains who could barely find the fire.
Yeah i personally think this is a single person job. I mean the relationships don't work. Get in make money,Then find a different job like one that will allow you to be home every night. Then settle down but just my opinion.
I think not being a part of the boys club is more about you than women in general. No offense to be taken! It usually takes me a while to gain the approval from men. Dumb, but how it is.
@@wildlandfirefit it's all good. I like your videos, I'm sorry if I came off wrong. I'm in the army as a medic and I know how the boys club can be. Lol I see you're AF going army WO?? I tried going warrant rotary wing pilot too, but past BH concerns stopped me sadly. I hope you get in ❤️ from what I can see - you seem like you'll get in no problem. Don't stress it! You air force guys are smarter than us anyways 😂
I think it’s 6 in one hand half dozen in the other. I was an engine captain that definitely had a boys club. I always welcomed female crew members. Some joined us and some didn’t. Same with male crew members. No harm done. But, I realize that’s not everywhere.
Thank you! You totally validate that angry feeling I get when exercise hurts or im not able to do it easily I totally thought it was just me, too.
As an 18 yr old female currently working on getting my wildfire certification, I am so happy I found your channel!
Yay! I'm glad you are here! 🎉
what erea are you gonna be in? fft2 here. year three comin up

Ha the narrative in there gets pretty crazy! Ha at least in mine 😂
Just came across your channel. Working on my application. Any tips for very small, pretty weak females? 😅
Ha ha!!! I was hoping for a blooper!!!! ✔️
Hahaha oh I always have lots of them. I guess I need to incorporate them more 😄
Hi. I would be interested in an actual paper copy of your book.
Sweet, thanks for the input!
I wish I would have known that it shouldn't bug me that wives would not trust or like a female on the crew.
You probably should have hung out with the boys after work then if your guy cheated on you anyways.
Why Did you quit firefighting
She didn’t quit she is in the military
