52 days 18 hours and some change until I get there …again! And to avoid blisters, stop sailing every 60-90 min, rinse hands with clear water, let dry completely and hydrate with top-quality hand lotion. And before going to bed, hydrate hands with heavy duty hand grease covered with a pair of light (and cheap) white cotton gloves that can be found online at large retailers (the ones used to manipulate artwork). Increase session time on the water as hands are getting used to the conditions. This has worked for me very well after 5 trips to Bonaire! Doesn’t prevent 100% of blisters but reduces occurrences quite substantially.
The thing to use on blisters is this blue gel called Mineral Ice. CVS sells it and has a generic version called Blue Ice as well. You put it on your hands after a day of sailing, and, swear to god, your blisters will be hardened into calluses the next morning. I don’t know what happens if you put it on open cuts though, so I wouldn’t sail that hard the first day. I sailed 17 straight days of 4.5 wind or better in Jericoaracoara using the stuff. It will also soothe aching muscles, which is what it is actually designed to do.
That’s amazing Nico, the way you are able to capture the magic of windsurfing. In the 80ies I remember doing a 24 hour race with some friends, on a lake near Rotterdam. For the night part we used glowing sticks to remain visible. Ah, happy days 😊
Lived in bonaire and windsurfed every weekend! I was sleeping under those sails when camping in moonlight. E guy called Ernst was the owner of Jibe City back then, true windsurf paradise!
I wear 3mm neoprene gloves and never get blisters. When i started windsurfing years ago without gloves i used to get blisters, maybe it depends on skin type.. Down side of gloves is they make your hands look very white after 3 hour session but it doesn't seem to have harmed my skin so far. They quickly return to normal. Some folk say they get cramp in their forearms when wearing gloves but i've never experienced that.
Sailed at night a few times when I lived in Fuerteventura and it is just as much fun as during the day. My only worry was that the sharks came in at night to feed. Makes your concentration on gybing right far more focused. Great to see you posting a video again after the last time when you said you were having health issues. Happy New Year to everyone.
Great to see your enthousiasm and water passion spreading on your coachees. But also taking a spin with the local hot shots incl the girls… maybe offer them a sponsorcontract from surfcenter so you might even call them Nico’s angels
Hey Nicki - it is really paradise, great video. Please don’t tell to your followers that you went on water after drinks. No alcohol on water, never. 👍👍 what kind of drone are you using? Could you tell me what model? I am wondering how it works on windy days
The kind of video that ruins your productivity. First, you watch it, then you dream about it. After that, you read about the next NP7 experience. Finally, you’re consumed by guilt of wasting half a day off work.
Hi Nico hätte auch mal richtig bock mit zu kommen aber ich habe leider immer Schule wen du die Events machst aber trotzdem richtig geiles Video habe schon jeden Abend drauf gewartet das wider was kommt
How can you use 7.4 when there is 12-15kts, is there something wrong with my tehnique because i need 9.0 and am lighter than you so here is something wrong/weird. Otherwise interesting as ever🤙
I only took the this one sail to Bonaire because I can use it from 12-30knots. In the end it’s mostly technique indeed, but that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you. I dedicated more than 15 years to the sport and hope to have mastered the technique. Even more impressive, check out Amado at the end with a 4.8, while I could barely get the 5.6 planing 🤙🤙

The De Jong girls are a dream or the role model for every windsurfing dad. How synchronized are they in the jibes, unreal ; - )
Ha, I made the video 13:47. Nice meeting you man, keep up the great work, love watching absolutely rip out there.

Happy New Year to everyone.
1983 Vejers beach, Denmark. My one and only Midnight windsurf session. The cars gave the lights. An experience I will always remember.
Bonaire is a beautiful spot and the combination of surfing in moonlight is top tear
I waited so long for a new video😂🔥

We'd need more Nicos around!
Awesome video Nico, watching this from a cold and wet Netherlands is terrible but I will be at Bonaire myself for 2 weeks late May 25! @jibecity
Nice, especially to see Armando !
Hey Nico when is your next clinic in Bonaire? How many days is the clinic and what was the cost this year? I would like to have you as my teacher.
How about some fingerless gloves for those callouses. Way less painful than lemon juice. Man, it sure looks nice there.
I must say WOW
Amazing site. I hope to windsurf there one day. Thanks Nico
12-15 knots is average? or max gusts?
7m is good for 15knots wind?
i would need 8+ for those winds🤣
Going 1 month february to march. This has been a dream for me and my wife for a long time. Looking soooo forward to it! Which Center do you recommend?
Jibecity for sure!
