Yeah, only 3 spotters. At a meet they like to have 5 spotters for anything over 500 lbs. But then again the guys training with John are all elite lifters so not a problem for those guys.
I used some of John's programming through Proven Strength, where basically every program was based off his own training. The peaking RPEs are insane, and if you aren't cooked by that last squat day, especially as a late intermediate/advanced lifter, you're inhuman. A good deload and a better day would've had it. Who's ready for 4x bodyweight squat from John again?
For any newbies out there wondering EXACTLY how you spot someone on the squat especially when they fail then just look at how the guy behind John helped him up when he failed the lift. Absolute textbook. 👍
It is amazing how many near max lift, above max lift he takes before a meet, I quess I am an old head, trained like Ed Coan, never miss a trained lift, maybe take a 90 percent attempt two weeks out from a meet and try to make it feel easy as possible, take a week off or a very light deload week before a meet. I would be worried peeking to soon, or the CNS won't recover in the right time before a meet. He must have great recovering abilities to go that heavy in every lift for that many weeks before a meet!

Even on gear, everyone has their peak potential. Not sure when he'll hit his, but it'll happen at some point. That being said I think he has 830+ in him still
It's not so much his right leg is way bigger, it's more so his left gyno is so big that it makes the left leg appear as if it only has n00b gainz, thus making the right leg appear much larger than it actually is. Both legs are actually small, as demonstrated by this embarrassing failed lift with ultra light weight.
I hope he calls it quits soon, from his physique I would be surprised if he was doing anything less than 3-4g a week whatever his roid stack is That must seriously hurt his body

Some people will argue the ladies are dominating the P4P talk, but they're on so many male hormones that they are practically transitioning, so female coefficients are useless at that point and they'll never be in the overall GOAT talk.

I too failed 372.5 Kg squat. My pr is 212.5 kg lighter but yeah, would definitely failed that too. Happens to the best of us.
