  • Braila is located in the south-east of Romania, at the river Danube. It is inhabited by 180.000 residents. The 23-kilometer tram network is served by four lines. While the lines 21 and 22 run through the city from north to south, the lines 24 and 25 go further south to the salt lake and a mostly abandoned industrial area. In 2018, line 22 was still closed for modernization, while the former line 23 had been closed due to the bad condition of the tracks. Many other parts of the network were still in desperate need for renovation.
    The rolling stock consists of several types of second-hand trams:
    The last two of originally 20 Tatra KT4D trams from Berlin, Germany;
    Werkspoor GT8 cars from Rotterdam, Netherlands;
    SGP E1 trams from Vienna, Austria;
    Lohner GT6 and GT8 trams from Graz, Austria.
