- What do you do when you start to get tired of shooting the same thing? How do you keep photography fresh? I have a simple tactic I employ: I just do the opposite of whatever I have been doing! When I'm tired of shooting with a wide angle I force myself to use a telephoto. When I'm tired of shooting horizontal comps I force myself to shoot only verticals for awhile. When I'm tired of shooting fall color from the ground, I.....well, you'll see what I did in the video.
Two important things:
1) If you want to visit the Eastern Sierra to view fall colors, please learn, practice, and support the 7 Leave No Trace principles.
lnt.org/why/7-...
2) All drone flights were done legally outside the wilderness boundary, and far away from other hikers.

How do you keep photography fresh?
Thanks! Good day!
You were exploring a Bob Ross landscape!😎
Happy trees!
I sure Love the drone footage just amazing
Some great footage and stills. Enjoyed the colors.
Thank you very much
It doesn't get much better than the Eastern Sierra during autumn !!! Thanks, Josh.
It certainly doesn't! Thanks so much. Cheers.
Thanks for an excellent video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video from a drone perspective. It really captures the aspen and pine forest on a huge canvas rather than from ground level where that scale can get lost. Last week in Rocky Mtn NP the aspen were peaking, the elk were in rut and the lakes and waterfalls brimming with clear water. It was a perfect week to be visiting with a loaded camera bag and no agenda. The smile on your face throughout this video tells the whole story...you achieved your goal of getting something new out of a repetitive situation (regardless of the beauty). Congrats!
You got it! And that means a lot, thanks!
Great video! Terrain very similar to what we have here in Colorado. Drone pictures are awesome. Looking forward to your next vid.
Thanks, Greg! I heard CO is going off right now for color
Super super cool video. Keep up the great work, Josh. You inspire so many of us. Also, lets hope Mammoth PhotoFest takes place in 2021!
What a joyful video! Many props and thanks for this!
My pleasure, Drew!
Always worth watching, thanks Josh!!!
And thank you so much for watching and supporting!
NIce! Glad to see you got clear skies. Colorado had a similar situation this summer. Just got back from my own photo road trip! I keep it fresh by visiting new places and shooting with friends!
Amazing! Keep on doing what inspires you :).
It’s been autumn in the Daisetsuzan National Park mountain range for the past 3 weeks and I’ve been loving it and going up to photograph everything on the weekends. If autumn was longer than just a month it would probably dethrone winter as my favorite season to photograph in.
Right! Autumn is such an incredible time of year, albeit short.
That's really an appealing scenery!
Definitely!
Sharing beautiful works.
Thank you.
Thank you for watching!

Thank you !
Have a nice day today.^^*
Really great and fun video!
Thanks, Danno!
I hand catch my drone, flip it upside down. Sometimes it turns off, but not always! Then I have to use my left thumb & right elbow
I launched my drone in a forest and enjoy seeing it dangling 100 feet up 2 years later ... not my best idea! Seriously though, nice video Josh and as always served with good humour
Thanks so much Ian!
You seem to have a good sense of humor as well. Tthanks!
Superb video Joshua ✨ Not quite the scenery where I live but inspiring nevertheless 👍
Cheers, Stephen. Yes, I feel very lucky to live here!
Great Video and drone pictures. What pack are you using?
Like your video and the fresh idea of aerial fall photography. Thank you for sharing. What drone do you have, Josh?
Absolutely love the eastern sierras but only been in summer. Recently been taking my mother law out with us in a bear outfit and posing her as Bigfoot. Let me know if u can use a 6’ 277 lb focal point
What was that thing you were wrestling with at2:36 ?😂😂 great episode buddy
Ha! I'm a mapophile for sure
Is that what you call fall colors?
I wish I could go out there but all the NF are closed.... :(
Yeah, it sucks! Inyo NF partial opening October 3rd though!
Too much talk, not so much photography. Sorry.
Greetings from Sweden
