i had a similar situation one time when my mii had his 5/6th child, i don't remember what happened but i accidentally removed my cartridge before saving, so when i reloaded the game i ended up naming the baby the same name, and also slightly changed the appearance, since all the kids before looked like me, so i wanted some variety

tomodachi life holds a near and dear place in my heart... i first played a translated version of tomodachi collection last year where my mii and bridget from guilty gear got married 😭 but i also had a proper tomodachi life save on an emulator, played it so much and it ran at like 20fps in anything but menus but my laptop sadly broke and my saves were ostensibly lost : [ the day it gets a sequel i’m buying it immediately (also special shoutouts to sol badguy mii and my jerma mii that i kept in a prison cell room)

I lost my first island due to my negligence of losing the cartridge. I only have images and mii qr codes, that still work, that were stored on the good ol' sd card. It was 2GB and I believe I stole it off of a camera my dad used. Sorry dad... Some of the miis from my old island still live on on my new island, with my much more reformed and actually stylised miis... It kinda looks like nightmare fuel compared to the rest. We have my OCs, myself, and then a creature sent from down beneath. Still glad I even saved them though. At least that's one thing I have.

Flash carts are very cheap and easy to use. Softmodding your 3DS is free but more difficult.
