The Homie DJ Quik in the BUILDING! 💯💯💯💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
DJ QUIK
West Coast Legend 💯
shoutout KLEEER's "Tonight" for being the already iconic backbone to this iconic track.
when tonight came out, people didn't know who DJ Quik was even, but in Cali.. we took NWA ice cube and eazy e out of the tape deck, and everyone, black, white,Essay,Samoan, Pacific Islanders,Asian, everybody in California was bumping Quik is the name album,HEAVY... until "Efil4zaggin"-nwa,came out and cube -death certificate... DJ quick was the sound track for life when that album came out, talking play the whole album, turn the tape over play it again turn it over play it again turn it over and play it again, rinse and repeat all summer!
Speak for yourself homie. Everyone knew who quik was before that
Most of the whole westcoast region knew dj quik at the time, but dj quik was on heavy rotation in cali especially southern cali. Midwest was the second region to start bumping him. Than when bloods and crips started becoming mainstream in hiphop and more hiphop artist started using it as a marketing tool in other regions, than it started to become known in the south an eastcoast. Im not saying southern kats or eastcoast kats didnt know about him, but in general he wasnt that big until bloods and crips started becoming more and more marketable. Back when it was just mostly the west region, the beefs and representing your hood was more serious than using it just as a marketing tool.
People in the us may have seen his video on tv at sometime, but dj quik was still somewhat underground and it was rare to see his videos on mtv or rap city compared to dre snoop, ice cube, nwa, and e40. Mc eiht and quik despite having their appearances with mainstream artist was still somewhat lowkey. So yeah people around nation may have knew them, but they wasnt as popular as the artist i named who were mainstream. But also at that time thats when east waa still booming, so they wasnt feeling us in general until they lost their steam. People like talib, redman, nas, wu tang, for the most part was showing love all over including the west. So im not pointing fingers at talib, but since newyork was the mecca of hiphop anything outside of their region at the time in general people wasnt feeling it. It was only during their down fall people started aknowledging westcoast artist in the east. South was already aknowleding it, but you had to have a large mainstream buzz before most the south got onto your music in general.
Nah homie that Born & Raised in Compton was huge.I live in Ohio and everybody in the hood or had a thumping car system was bumping that heavy. When Tonite came out that really put him over and the women and hoes loved him
I admit you're right though it was the soundtrack to a teenagers life in the hood and suburbs too.He just had a song for everything a teen does or cares about.Fucking, drinkin, smokin, partying, hanging with your crew, reppin your hood, reppin your city, spittin game at hoes..he broke down everything a teen does in the inner city and made a song about it.He was like your homeboy down the street and the music was top notch how could you not like and support him
Very Proud of Quik top tier flyness
QUIK I have nothing but respect for you...Thank you for bringing great music that is 🔥 and it touches your soul!!
I could listen to quik talk all day long!!
THE DAY I MEET THIS og MY LIFE WILL BE COMPLETE, so many things he has said and it stuck like a mfer
Man I’ve been wanting to hear from Quik forever. Hope he go on drink champs next
Kweli bring Rakim
Thank you for bringing DJ Quick🙏🏾👍🏽💎☺️
If you grew up out west, especially in southern cali in the early 90s, you couldnt go a week, or not even a couple of days without hearing multiple cars bumping it.
It was like that everywhere when he came out.He never been mainstream and alot of people the younger fans don't have his debut Quik Is The Name as one of his top albums but they don't understand how huge this album was when it dropped.Im glad Quik never sold out but when he had them hit singles the world definitely was on it and that's why that was his biggest selling album ever
In from the land too. That’s a fact !
@@keldorthebluemack no people knew about him. He was played on mtv and rap city but not on a large scale. So though he was known, he wasnt being played like that on a large scale all through out the u.s. yeah there was a few people who may have played him through out the us. But he didnt start to become nationally known through out the us "generally," in the hiphop community until later on. People like cube, dre, snoop, mack10, nwa, dpg, westside connection and a few others were known all over the us, no matter if you was conscious fans of hip, lyrical, dance, or whatever. Only a few people in one category of hiphop really knew about quik and it was mostly out west. The same can be said about hi-c, 2nd II None, south central cartel, cmw, mausburg, amg, king t, k dee "even though" he was discovered by ice cube," and a few others were only really known and played on a large scale in the western region. And it was the same thing for northern cali artist, they were mostly played in the western region, than the midwest. Had youtube/ social media been around, it would of been easier to influence the herd mentality when someone is hot, than they would of been known faster. But their lyrics were too explicit back than, and wasnt as mainstream. All the artist i named including the mainstream artist were all talented, but the latter had less influence on mainstream buzz since most fans are influenced by trends of whats hot, or if the artist they like is associated with a notable artist or history.
@@tirellv4938 Nah Quik was one of the main west coast artist. He was the most popular besides NWA,Too Short, and Ice T.They said his music was being played on the radio in DC and Baltimore. They said for a west coast artist to be played on east coast radio you had to be big and made an impression. The only people who were hating on Quik were New York but they said Brooklyn had love for him and would bump his music and part of the Bronx. The South and Midwest loved him too he just wasn't pushed or promoted like Snoop was and had all the suburban white kids in North Dakota playing his shit.Maybe 1 outta 10.You definitely can't say Mack 10 was bigger than him people mostly only cared about Mack bcuz of Cube.Quik had nobody he came out and blew up on his own and brought his crew with him. They were talented on their own as well but majority of people only rocked with them bcuz they were down with Quik. And besides Snoop and Cube Quik was the only other artist to consistently drop a platinum or Gold album out in Southern Cali in the 90's.By the time 106 & Park came out his popularity nationwide had started to decline so that's why you never saw his videos being played heavy on there and that Pitch N Ona Party just had stopped being played on BET when 106 first aired
Pedialyte - adults can use too. Even in the hosiptals they use
Living legend, West Coast in the house 🎤🎤👍
Tonite is one of the best hip hop songs ever made but when they do their top 100 hip hop songs this never gets mentioned.I never seen it mentioned in the top 150.I think I seen it mentioned at 27 one time by a survey by the fans and obviously they were an older crowd and people outside New York

Nottyhead (seagrams) claimed a lot of people in the 80s
DJ Quik should have been a member of NWA.....He held his own......
He didn't want to that's why Eazy E didn't trip when Dre left bcuz he was gonna have Quik take his place but Quik didn't wanna do it
Damn... between Talib and Questlove's podcast, I don't get anything done...

Eat a piece of ginger root. A good hangover remedy that works. Down it with hella water.

BC is a MOFO, It will knock a headache out
Quik, ok now
All that talking, just get to the point. I don't want to hear every little detail about a bunch of insignificant people.
Every time the camera pans to ole girl with them lashes, they need not to.
People in the comments, dont even talk about treating hangover because yall are not Russians which means you dont know how to treat hangover and never did.
