Your channel is amazing! You need a tv show on a&e
Hi it looks easy but it is hard
I want to thank you for the information. I saved my tomatoes relatively inexpensively thanks to this video. My parents have passed away and I had no one to teach me tricks and tips to gardening. Love finding helpful advice from folks like you. Thank you
Its been two years but your guide about cultivating tomato helps a lot.😊
I just found you and I’m so excited to have a garden this year!! I did 5 tubs last year which was all that I could take care of then. I’m 77 and I have had a couple of hard years. Almost dying and had to go on ventilator and lost my social skills even walking. I’m improving with physical therapy and I AM GOING TO GARDEN MORE THIS YEAR!!!! Thank you so much for helping all of us with your tips. My husband did all the gardening and I did the preserving. He has gone to our Lord so it’s up to me now. Thank you!!!!
What an inspiration you are!! Thank you for commenting! Pace yourself and keep it simple and fun!!! Maybe you'll find (His) Peace and closeness to your husband while out in the garden. Please promise to subscribe and keep us posted, Carol. Kim
I just love your excitement you're like a kid on Christmas every time you harvest.. gets me so excited to see how well our first Garden does the season thank you for the inspiration Miss Kim!
CaliKim,
I love love LOVE your videos! I just started gardening this year - pretty much by accident after I found some of my tossed kitchen scraps growing in my “burn pile” of yard debris out back - now 3 months later my kitchen is filled with upcycled planters and seed trays & everything is growing like crazy! I didn’t expect that so MANY of my seeds would germinate, but now I have 30+ tomato plants & 90+ pepper plants & up until yesterday, was feeling completely overwhelmed & in over my head. I’ve learned so much from your pepper and tomato videos & can’t wait to start transplanting them this morning. You’ve truly inspired me with your cheerful & upbeat attitude and with all of your amazing (& easy!) tips!! Thank you so much!!! 😊
Welcome to the Channel, Kate! Good to have you - and please keep us all posted on how the gardening goes! What a great story! Kim
I have watched many many videos and I have found that your "How to Grow Tomatoes from Seed to Harvest" is the most informative video I have seen to date! ( 5 ***** Stars ) Plus! Thank You so very much!
Cali Kim is the best!!
She's pretty super smart elegant and passionate about gardening she is fires me to plant even though I have a horrible complex about gardening as I always seem to fail but I'm going to keep trying especially with the world the way it is right now
Its been two years but your guide about cultivating tomato helps a lot.😊😄
Happy to help, Jan. Keep on growing, for sure!!
hi, nice video. I get rid of the worms by putting up a bird feeder nearby my vegetable garden bed. The presence of birds i find to be a deterrent, whether they get scared of them or get eaten by them. I have not had any of these worms on any tomato plant and i have an abundance of birds coming in and out of the area due to the presence of bird feeder.
Great info! Thanks!
I use same method with drinking cups and coffee cups. Ice Picks make nice holes too. Also, if you get the disposable coffee cups with plastic lids, you can fill the cup with garden soil, put the plastic lid on, turn the cup upside down, cut a hole in the paper bottom of the cup and put the seed in. The cup will drain then and the sprout comes up through the bottom with the hole in it which is now the new top.
This season I picked 5 girl friends to gift Heirloom tomato plants. I planted the starts with a cage in a large self watering container. Each girl got 4 plants to grow and they are already harvesting either the large or cherry tomatoes...they love what they are growing.
This is a one of a kind, complete, thorough video. Well done. We learned so much, and it has motivated us to put our own comprehensive videos up soon. It’s so nice to come to one video and get what you need. It’s like a one-stop-shop! Haha. We love your videos. Keep it up.
I just cant believe how they have access to just such a large variety of fruits , trees and plants. Feels like they live in paradise. Fresh produce right on their door step , surrounded by nature and enjoyed together in a close knit family and community! All the money in the world cant buy what they have.
Yes, you are right!!! Amazing !!
At 9:42 You said you don't have any indoor grow lights. At 10:15 You already an expert on them. "La donna e mobile" !!! No, no !!! Only kidding!!! I love your videos and I watch all of them. Thanks for sharing!!!
I haven't watched it yet but I wanted to say how happy I am to see that we have a new long format video to enjoy. Thank you Kim!
Hello Joe - glad to hear you are enjoying the veggie feature films, LOL! Grab some popcorn and settle in for the night and make sure to let me know what tips you especially find helpful. Thanks for watching!

Have fun! And let me know!
Interesting as per a Life-long Gardener; I have to chuckle a lot! Also, this lady is a great communicator!
First, I'd like to say that you are an amazing teacher. I'm almost tearing up right now due to of amount of time, detailing and effort you've put into making sure you've provided fail proof information so all your viewers can be successful. I've watched quite a few videos and read books yet none compare. I feel like some individuals don't share enough or leave critical nuggets out to keep their audience which is annoying cus we're all on this planet to learn. Anyways, Now I feel confident in growing tomatoes. I''ve tried a few times an failed however this year, will be a different story. I feel better prepared. Thank you! God bless you abundantly for being generous with your teaching.
Thanks for your kind words! So glad that you’re finding joy in your garden and that our videos I’ve helped you be successful and feel confident! Appreciate you watching!
I Did Not Know That Tomatoes Could Grow So Tall ,And Last "So Long" !! We Had A Short Growing Season On Li6ng Island , So We Harvested Until Just Before The 1St Freeze. I love that tip about adding soil. Every time I watch your vids it makes me miss the California Sun. Greetings for the suburbs of Toronto. We're on the north side of lake Ontario.
I made a indoor mini grow light like you did and it's working beautifully! Thank you so much Kim
I can't even wait to get my balcony garden swinging. Watching you eat fresh roasted vegetables just made a tear roll down my cheek.
Thank you for sharing kim! I always enjoy your videos. I learned a lot from you. I love harvesting fresh tomatoes from my small garden 😊
Awesome information and instructional video. You make building a tomato cage doable, especially for us women! Again thank you.
I'm SO excited! I've been watching you for what seems like forever, BUT, I lived in Colorado on a small lot and didn't have a lot of room to garden. I've moved. I'm now in Florida and have 3/4 of an acre!!! Longer growing seasons, more land .. I'm giddy! I will finally be able to use your tips and ideas while growing lots and lots of things.
Hi Jennifer - thanks a bunch for watching my videos from the get go! I grew up in CO, it is a beautiful state. But how fun to move to a climate where you can grow year round and have more space to grow your own food! So happy for you. If you need seeds for your new garden, check out my seed collections at calikimgardenandhome.com - I'd love to grow some of the same varieties and compare notes on how they grow in Florida! I can't wait to hear what you are going to grow in your new garden space - enjoy!
Im so jello. Do u need neighbors lmao. Im stuck in Omaha with a balcony.
The clovers in the intro were so pretty what a beautiful shot!
Your explanation of grow lights was the best I ever heard, easy and to the point.
just joined and having fun. i have 65 plants this year and my wife is sick of me talking about them lmao
I have learned so much through your channel. Keep those videos coming! Thanks for putting time and effort into your videos. They truly show!!!

Thanks Kim!'great idea to link videos! Very informative!

Thanks a lot for sharing your tomato Planting Madam, watching you from Athens Greece, Bravo Godbless Always,
that's great taking off the tomatoes that are ready gives the plant extra energy towards the tomatoes that are not ready.
Thats so greate !!!! Keep it going!!!
Check out your local plant nurseries for tomato plants before the big box stores, your grocery, or Walmart! I get them at less than half the price and there's more choices. Support your local businesses please 😊
I can't wait for this season to start 😀 I'm planning on growing a lot of different tomatos this time. I already have a few tomato seedlings started (sub Arctic plenty and red robin), but the rest of the seeds will have to wait a bit longer - because it's still snowing here in Denmark and I don't have that much space indoors 😉
Hi Unnie - sounds like you are off to a great start there in Denmark. Hope it stops snowing soon so you can get your garden planted - it will feel great to get out in the garden again. Thanks for watching!
Great set of videos, Thank you very much.
Glad you like them! CK
That sauce is so good with cooked spaghetti squash or cooke zucchini noodles with a little red crushed peppers on top and Parmesan cheese 😋
Hi ya Kim! I was raised by my grandmother who did not teach me how to cook, so, I cannot give with any tips, hopefully I will learn from u and others. Thank u
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you 😊. I have been looking for over over 18 months at cheaper options for indoor planting/plant starting and this is fantastic. How have I not seen your channel before. I am a new subscriber 👍👍 I am from Australia 🇦🇺 and I will be passing your videos on

The horn worm grows up to be a hummingbird moth, which is very beneficial in the garden. It’s a wonderful pollinator. I give them their own plant to eat, away from the others. I used to kill them also, until learning this.
This is so amazing. I know I'm late to this video but man am I glad I stumbled upon it. This is absolutely the greatest tomato tutorial I've ever seen. I can't even imagine a detail that has been left out. Thank you so much.

Great video as usual! Thank you.
I believe that planting borage nearby tomato plants is very good at deterring the tomato hornworm, and for additional support, planting nasturtium, marigolds and basil nearby wards off tomato pests in general. However, potatoes, kohlrabi, cabbage, and cauliflower should be kept away from tomatoes.
Keep up the good work!
Can Do It Together ABSOLUTELY AGREE!
Lovely nasturtiums, and thank you for leaving that sweet little common clover in your garden! She is great for improving the nitrogen in the soil and an often overlooked gentle herb for a cleansing and fortifying tea.
I pay 3$ a piece for them here in Florida . They are my bearded dragons fav treat . I have tons of tomatoes , thanks to you , love your channel .
wow! love your tomatoes ..
1:22:31. Wow! With that many red tomatoes, I'd make spaghetti sauce here in Malaysia! I grow some veggies and herbs too in my garden in Malaysia, here we have warm weather all year long 365 days. I haven't grown tomatoes yet but after watching your video, I'll do that here in Kuala Lumpur. Here I grow lemongrass, kaffir lime (we use leaves for aromatics in some dishes), sweet potatoes, screwpine ( a kind of aromatic herb used in dishes such as NASI LEMAK - you better Google Nasi Lemak! Delicious! Hahaha!), curry leaf, malabar spinach, Brazil spinach, noni (I eat the leaves), turmeric, torch ginger, okra, eggplant and many more, so much that I actually do not have to but veggies at stores/markets, and save some money on household foods. Used to grow lots of tomatoes and other US veggies in Utah in summer.
Thanks for showing this I grew up on the farm. We have always grew a big garden. We have always bought the slips from Walmart or home depot. But the last several years we have had trouble with plant quality and identity. I'm thinking ofgrowingmy slips from seed. Thanks for sharing. Think I'll use the clamp grow light with jugsand PVC jug
I started a notebook with baseball card holders. I put the little baggies in each card slot I love it! I am so proud of myself..lol I am hoping to have a successful garden this year. I have wasted so much money trying to learn. :-(
A very nice idea of planting a tomatoes.
Thank you, this is so nice to have it ALL right here in one video!
Thanks Pam!! What are you growing???
Tomatoes, green beans, garlic, onions, beets, pablano peppers, carrots, basil, parsley, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, oregano, rhubarb, asparagus, raddish. I still have a little space so not sure what I will add. Probably zucchini.
Very well made-explained video,thank you for sharing!😃😄
The cattle panels work great for beans, peas, cucumbers & any climbing veggies & fruits!😍
Great all round video for growing tomatoes from start to finish. Thank you.
Great idea to put all of these together. Thanks for your hard work! 💚
Thanks Donna, are you growing tomatoes?
Nice comment😄😄😄😄
You are AWESOME! I have learned so much. Thank you!
Hi Cali Kim, I loved watching this video. I just bought a single beef tomato plant from a local nursery yesterday 4-1-21, I plan to grow it in a grow bag. I was so excited to start this process but when you spoke of rats and hornworms I am thinking about changing my mind 🤔. But I love fried green tomatoes so I may try to calm my fear 😨 and go for it. I will be checking more of your videos throughout the process. tfs
Thank you. I haven’t seen this information about indoor grow lights explained before. You do a great job doing this.
Why did I only now find you?! Started my first tomato seeds a few weeks ago already but I've learned a lot from you and am making some changes to my set up. Will be certainly coming back to this video throughout my tomato plants' lives that's for sure!
Aliirielle my first time growing tomatoes too!! This is excellent information 🌱🍅
Beautiful video ... Have happy plants and a lovely harvest.
hi , i enjoyed your video , a few diy's i use , my hoop cages were same mesh but 6''x6'' welded wire x 5' the diameter i choose was 30'' with 2 metal fence posts . the hornworms were dealt with by having plastic mulch and spray with hot pepper wax , now when they try chomping the droppings are a bright green when fresh , day old they are dull green , day old they are brownish black , i look for the fresh droppings and then search over them , now where i am i move those critters to the sumac trees as they seem to enjoy those also , i am in northern new england we transplant to outdoors on Memorial Day , harvesting starts July 4th , i pump fertilized water 24/7 in soaker hose buried under my plastic mulch , this allows the heated warm moist environment , a ecosystem with pest seeking frogs and garden snakes preying on bugs and rodents , the tomato root structure evolves into 2 huge root balls one a foot down where the manure is placed when they were planted and the other root ball is next to the soaker hose , i only grow those antique varieties , the extra tomatoes we make into paste and freeze , 130 plants produce over 2,000 pounds through our season , happy harvesting !
Love your work kid 😁
Thanks! 😁
Colin I've never used anything but rain water for the garden needs and just started last season with seedlings and didn't think about the chemicals and did use treated water, thanks for addressing the issue
I'm in zone 6 Ohio your seeds system doesn't work in this condition but you have lots of great teaching I'm taking notes ,about Bakers Creek Seeds lots of fine folks..
Lady Thanks
Just subscribed. Looking forward to a beautiful spring garden with hopefully lots of tomatoes.
You explain so clearly and simply & it is SO helpful!! This spring is my very first garden and I'm so excited! Thank you for creating this super helpful videos!!
Thanks so much for the kind words and so happy you’re enjoying the vids!! Super excited for your first garden- it is so wonderful to grocery shop in your backyard knowing the food is organic, healthy, and delicious!! Keep me posted!
Hi ya Kim! Can’t wait too see ur new cage system! Thank u
This seems extremely easy I think I can make one ! 😀am excited grow eggplant 🍆 first time ever. Thanks for the tips on cage. 🌈 George
FYI this video was playing on my tv when I got home and I literally sat down on the couch and was mesmerized by you because your just so beautiful! And that salad looks amazing too! New sub here!! 😀😋
you asked so nicely I couldn't help but subscribe, but more importantly... very good content!
great video 2nd time i watched . sunday relaxing class .🤩
LOVE to hear this!! Thank you for watching - Kim
I love your method of growing seeds. Thank you.
I know this video is a couple years old, but we bought 2 of the FM lights this winter, and discovered that FM puts out little cords that will link them together, up to 4 lights on a single switch. They run about $9 each from the company, but it sure saves a lot of outlet space by eliminating the power cords for 3 of them!
this is so nice to use your videos
Thank you from down under. You explained how the grow light works. I'm not afraid to try it now. I also like that you don't use anything fancy for gardening. You use the things that we can manage. I have tiny cherry tomatoes just sprouting on paper towels. I can't afford the extra setup this round but I'll be sowing more seeds in a few weeks. Wish me well as I do you.
Kim, thank you for the make your own tomato cage tip.
Very helpful simple and clear to understand.
Cali Kim Camera guy are awesome!!
Much appreciated! Means tons Victoria, thank you!
Your tomato recipe was so helpful. Thank you for sharing your video.
So funny I been using 100 watt daylight fluorescent spiral bulbs for many many years to grow veggies indoors like salad cucumbers dwarf peppers n tiny Tim’s . I’ve got my seedlings under the lights now. Nice dark green leaves. This is my second year ever that I am doing soil. Ever. I did soil one summer in 2013. I’m so excited! And lots of learning. Doing it from seed this time
That is awesome! Sounds like you are on the right path and starting from seeds, how exciting!!! GREAT work, be sure to subscribe here/turn on notifications so you do not miss any episodes!! Keep us ALL posted, too! Kim
I use the welded wire cages too. I've had three of them wired on top of one another. For 14 foot plants. I drive a metal fence post to tie the wire to for support. Never had any troubles. ......Great video. Am learning some things.
Hi Simpleman - great idea to wire them together for the super tall plants - and the metal post is perfect for support. Glad you are picking up some new tips - I love how we all learn from each other here! Thanks for watching!
Am enjoying your video on growing tomatoes, seed to harvest. We have used the cattle panels also in our garden for plant holders. We have bent tome in the middle (curved) to more cuddle the plants and tie in the middle of the curve. Also laid them lengthwise curved on the ground for plants to grow up and over, as well as how you used them. They have been cut in two and also cut into three or four pieces. On the cut pieces we drove those ends into the ground for additional support. You are only limited by your imagination and needs. I definitely prefer them to the round ones purchased.
Thank you for sharing I am learning and it makes me a big fan
Great ideas for setup! 👍🏼
That's hysterical about the Zucchini
Great video, thank you so much. Merry Christmas! 🎄 And a very safe & Happy New Year 🎄🎅🎁🐾🐾💝
Beautiful Garden I would like to Congratulate you on your Wonderful tips.
I’ve already watched all these on their own, but I enjoyed watching them in succession like this as a refresher! Random, I love how you pronounce ‘measure’! Lol

Woooow, your video production has come a looong way. #goals
U can also put them in ur kitchen window or on ur counter and they will turn red. I live in Al and also had grown up in Mississippi and thats how we all do it. My hubby and I have a garden as well for 4yrs now. But u do have good tips that I've learned. Thk u.
To keep horn worm off my tomatoes I plant a few tobacco plant a row next to the tomatoes, I have found the horn worm moth rather lay it eggs on the tobacco then tomatoes. Also you can see the eggs and caterpillars easier on the tobacco leaves so you can pick them off.
love your videos! thanks for the tips!
I actually planted about 25 starter tomato plants right after the last week of temps dipping down belowing freezing. It may have been early February, and all i went with was the 15 day forecast and a gut instinct that the freezes were over. Well several nights dipped into the upper 30's but tomatoes seemed to thrive. They now are over 2-1/2 feet tall, very wide branched and with tomatoes now growing as big as 2 inch diameter. Very healthy and dark green foliage. Some are in 5 gallon and some in as large as 10 gallon containers. But in fairness i am in Baton Rouge Lousiana. Now it is on average 78 degree by day and 64 maybe at night. And soon will come the muggies. Lots of hot muggy days ahead. Today, the day before Easter it is sunny, and mid 70's.
Congratulations Richard! You plants certainly sound healthy bound to give abundant harvest- thnx for sharing!🍅

I used Garden Safe BT Worm & Caterpillar Killer. It works & after one day of spraying tomatoes are safe to eat! I always rinse my tomatoes & veggies off with bowl/sink full of water & about 1/4 cup of white or apple vinegar. Works great!😍
Love this.
