I just used 60lb bags of high-strength Sakrete from Home Depot. The aggregate should settle when you screed it and then finish it with a mag float. Hope this helps!
It took me about 45 mins to mix and pour one slab. Then you let it cure for a bit and then another 20 mins or so to finish it. Yes you should be using something to reinforce the concrete.

Forms can be removed shortly after you do the surface finish. If you wait too long you will not be able to finish the faces, not an issue in this case however since the faces will not show.
Yes you could. I purposely created the spaces to put artificial turf in between them. You could also put small rocks. You could also put the forms closer together and for the edges you want touching just use thinner boards there rather than 2x4s.
We put artificial turf between the slabs. You can check our channel to see the full video. You could also put small rocks between them or even fill them with concrete if you wanted.

Does the wood form just not stick to the concrete? Or did you use something so it came off easier? Thanks
It does not stick. Just tap it with a hammer and it pops right off.

Did you put the brooming and edge smoothing the wrong way round in the video? I am a bit confused otherwise

You just run the edger tool around the edges again. Only had 60 seconds for the short and figured it was repetitive to show again 😉
What size are the frames ?
They are 3’ x 4’
Could this be done for a driveway?
Absolutely. I would recommend going 5”-6” thick on the slab to support the weight of a vehicle.
Sure, as long as you own a Mini-Cooper or a Miata. 😅
I don’t know if I would’ve burned it, but it looks good. Broomed just looks to Commercial for a backyard.
We have young kids running around by the pool and I wanted to make sure it had a nonslip surface. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have broomed it.
