  • My thoughts on how Roman Vishniac a film photographer in the 1930's captured the times he lived through and how we should do as well.

I just came across the name Vishniac in an old issue of American photographer probably from 1984, so I looked him up and found some videos, just want to say thank you for sharing this book here, as I paused and read captions I found it most interesting and of great Historical value. With the current attempts and successes in banning important books in the U.S. in many states I fear we are witnessing a rise in an attempt to whitewash historical facts. Photojournalism is a record keeper and should never be ignored. Thank you.

Interesting series of images, many of which you can get a 'going about daily life' feel about them. Great take away as well.

I have this book. I only take it out rarely. Browsing the photos floods me with emotion, knowing most of these people were killed off by the Nazi war machine. Good choice of music.

I'm exactly the same. It's so sad... So much loss of life.

Thank you for sharing this book. The photos testify that world described so amazingly by Israel Singer.

Thank you for depicting this treasure from Roman Vishniac. I would just have to disagree with the comment about the culture being completely gone. The large communities of ultra Orthodox Torah true Jews of today, 2nd generation of holocaust survivors, forge on with same embodiment of adherence to dress, language, religious laws (including prayers and study of torah) and keeping tight family and community ties.

Great video, thank you😊 can we rely on digital imagery to keep a record of our photographic history?... I say no!
