Brennan really is the goat at working in some lore that brings forth a change in class, nothing sucks more than being stuck in a class that sounded fun but has really flatlined
Honestly I was just so happy to see college of whispers represented for so long, it's one of my absolute favorite subclasses and I loved the way emily played it.
The problem is that this is D&D and even if the gods are just extremely powerful beings that are called God simply because they decided they want to be they still have power over the souls of the beings on the prime material plane spellcasters may be able to change their fate but the vast majority of people are subject to the absolute truth of the Gods and their will

One of my favorite clerics I ever played was the trickery domain and didn't worship any deity, his attitude was "What is a god but a winner of some cosmic lottery? Should I worship them for being here first? By that logic I should worship the local baron. If they have resources to share while our goals align, great, but my magic comes regardless of who I pray to"

There's something so poetic about some of the little things, I was always stuck with the last moment and "only because Fabian is immune to fear..." bit cause it feels so built up and earned! Like, the audience fully understands how his eyepatch works with the previous episodes of him taking it off at his lowest point, and putting it back on at important moment for him, and then Coach Daybreak not knowing it's powers during the hell fight and now this. It's feels scripted, rule of three, set up and payoff, and yet it's not. This is so miniscule in the scope of that ending moment but it's always been one of my favorite lines
My fav line from this episode was simply, "Pretty weird, eh Kristen?" 😅😅😅
I also forgot the eyepatch bonus, and genuinely thought he was just doing a "dumb" jock bit again.
But the problem is that you need to be afraid to reach the center of the fortest
Great point but I feel like this is sort of the natural progression that a story and reality should follow. This calls to dnd being, at least here, a stream of consciousness story that evolves from Brennan's outline of a story. He might guide the story very well, but credit to all the PC's who are proficient in their characters and craft. Great story- tellers, and great story writers.
“Covered in your mother’s shawl, knowing for certain that nothing bad was ever gonna happen to you because Helio had chosen you” is a heartbreaking statement. A hurt, lost Kristen in a forest in the middle of nowhere on a suicide mission, without her spirit guardians, has such a striking contrast to that memory.

A bit strange to me since the Whispers were coming from her and that was her before high school literally
when these were airing live, this was the last episode that aired in march of 2020 before everything shut down because of covid, and i am not ashamed to admit that "it's gorgug. keep going." became something of a beacon of hope for me for those next few awful months.
love the show, love dropout, can't wait to see what junior year has in store
Perhaps made even more poignant by the fact that this is the point when all the characters are isolated from each other, kind of like how we all were during quarantine.
If Brennan doesn't homebrew ice feast for junior year I'll be thoroughly disappointed

The amount of lore and history Brennan came up with for this campaign... Bravo, sir, this is incredibly gripping
I'm watching this episode with subtitles as I work out and I noticed that they acknowledge how British Shioban is and they spell "mum" when she says it and "mom" when Brennan does it. Its very funny and also super accurate and I love it

Wanted to offer an observation I think no one else would ever make; I don’t know if he does it consciously, but something I long decided to make a concerted effort to do…Brennan makes the ASL symbol for love when he points to his players…it’s such a small thing, but the ubiquity of the action and subconscious or not really, says a lot to me about the mind of this person.

Aaah, I wonder if that ending would've turned out any different if maybe Kristen said something else? Like "I don't know you, so I want to know you." Or "I am afraid so, I want to find out about you." Not sure if that would be worse or better for a goddess of night, doubt and the unknown within this forest in which apparently fear has some benefits or worse. I would so love to ask Brennan these questions, how much stuff could be different? I love D20so much!!! Ahh!
The tincture maths is off! The DC was 15 to make it and 2 above makes an additional dose. The roll was 26, which is 15 (one dose) plus 5 additional doses (17, 19, 21, 23 ,25) for a total of 6 doses. I kept hoping they'd notice, but so far no one has! Hope I wasn't the only one running tincture maths in my head xD And I hope no one ends up needing that tincture they've already made! ':D

Nah, I think it's like damage threshold where to even make one you need to reach a 15 first, but you do have a good point
it's because they immediately used the first dose on their whole group and Gilear to cure themselves from the Nightmare-STD, and then they took the remaining 5 doses to the forest.
The candy dice will forever be one of my favorite bits.

Ok the stabing was uncalled for but I get where this goddesses is coming from
She tried to warn her followers she really did. "Don't do this fuckshit, you'll _unmake_ me" and what do they go and do? So many premonitions ignored, labeled heritics for even having them. Common sense cast aside to go head first into this stupid plan all unable to see that they are being played like fiddles.
The ritual takes place and the obvious happens she is unmade. And what else would she feel other than betrayal and bitterness in that moment? That all her lessons would be for naught. These people worshiped the goddess of doubt and the majority of them did not doubt enough in the moments that it was needed most. I'd feel like a failure.
The curses she made to protect herself from fading away are all she has left in the centuries after. She has been reduced to hatefulness passively watching as other gods are honored and exalted while she just fades away in a corner of the world.
If I'm correct this is where the Nightmare King comes in, a being of malice created by this forgotten goddess. it goes against everything she once stood for but hey so did her subjects.
Couple more centuries pass same old same old, and then something changes. The beginnings of a follower in some human girl begin to stir. You decide to keep a bit of an eye on her (with whatever you would call eyes at this point) Later, just beyond the reach of your strongest curse, she prays to you though she doesn't know it.
Against your better judgment, you hear her out. Give her some of her spell slots back for a reason you can't quite admit to yourself. She must have had hope in Kristian to even humor her.
Then she finds it: the temple where you were unmade. And for the first time you speak face to not face.
You ask her why she sought you out and she answers that your whole thing about being a goddess of doubt really spoke to her. The spite this goddesses must have felt in that moment... After centuries of stagnation a genuine show of appreciation for that aspect of her must feel like a cruel joke.
What probably happened here was the goddess lashing out in the form of a test of faith.
"Lets see how much you believe in me now"
Edit: Alright so this season was awesome and I mostly got things right. Cassandra and the Nightmare King being one in the same was something I suspected but wasn't sure on and them lashing out was more out of pain than a test of faith. The only question I have left is whether Galacia or her followers decided that Cassandra was out of line. If I had to guess, it was her followers first and then Galacia embodied their ideals.

I love that so many of them multi class! Must dnd shows I watch they never do because they’re so excited about leveling up and it’s still fun but it’s always exciting when a fighter throws out a spell and you’re just like this is amazing

I fucking loved this episode. The whole battle in the episodes before was truly something thanks to all the mechanics and the callbacks to the first campaign,but here everyone did splendidly. You can tell the more they go on and on with the adventure, they're legit scared,worried, cautious. The cliffhangers are also placed in a way that can only make you want to see the next one and then the next as soon as possible,truly a wonderful work on Brennan's side. Kudos to you all

I’m confused - thought they got a long rest before going into the forest again and would have regained everything they needed. Is the rest *just* to avoid exhaustion or to regain all spells / abilities?
Embracing your fear would be better than rebelling against it you can become stronger by understanding yourself better not by running away from yourself and the feather never stopped working it was all an illusion I don't know how they didn't figure that out
