- Very rusty WW1 infantry shovel restoration. I found this old infantry shovel near a WW1 trench. This is Linnemann's infantry shovel 1870. The shovel was very rusty and I decided to restore it. I removed the rust and made a new handle. Now I can work with this shovel. I hope you liked my restoration.

damn - over 100 years, and with some TLC, that thing is good as new. they don't build them as they used to nowadays...
I believe they were called latrine spades. Sharpening the edges made more efficient for other purposes. Have it in your hands and surprised... Thank you for the great video. Be safe

I have to admit to being critical of several restorations in the past, but this sir was absolutely amazing.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THIS WAS AWFUL! Please stop being an enabler his only good restoration was that cleaver of knives and tools and then that lighter. His others have been god awful especially that padlock!

Випробування були жорсткі, я думав лопата зігнеться після таких копів по корінню, але витримала. Більше 100 років металу, а він так гарно зберігся
Все залежить від ґрунту) Інколи трапляються лопати, що прогнили наскрізь)

Занимался немецкой каской в гараже. Заходит сосед Андрюха говорит А у меня вот есть немецкая сапёрная лопатка. Я ему говорю это не немецкая. Ищи под краской клейма. Ну и он нашёл главная инженерное управление Карл шпигель 1894 год. Одну чуть похуже мне отдал так 1915 год и изготовлена на заводе Шодуар в нашем городе Привет из Днепра

Oxalic Acid would have been better, as that would not remove any original finish on the metal.

Вітаю! По моїх спостереженнях такий грубий метал можна кидати в оцет , і буде як після піскоструя , можна й без електролізу .
Не буде. Малі предмети з не глибокою іржею можна й в оцет… а такі великі предмети, то краще електроліз… це швидше і дешевше)
@@ReXtorer Взяв був якось багато оцету в якого закінчився строк придатності по дуже бюджетній ціні, тому використовую його кругом )) навіть в труби каналізації ляю )
Завод производитель Шодуаръ (изначально Франко Бельгийский трубопрокатный завод, на момент производства лопаток уже принадлежал Русскому трубопракатному обществу, в г. Екатеринославль, в будущем Днепропетровске, после революции завод переименован в Коминтерн, после октября 1941г. НШЗ).
Год выпуска 1914г.
Начал производить лопатки с 1912г.
Единственный поставщик пехотных лопаток у которого на клейме было два имперских орла, за качество.
Клеймо приемки Д в круге принадлежало подполковнику Давыдову Ивану Алексеевичу.

Если как новодел для себя то добротно, если как историческую вещь, то с черенком есть не точности.
1. Жаль что убили родное заводское воронение, всякими средствами блеск не получиться.
2. Клёпки на черенке идут в патай, а не выступают.
3. У этого завода черенки шли только из березы, а не из другого дерева.
4. Черенок в сечении в месте хвата у царской лопатки не круглый, а овальный, для более удобного хвата и длительной работы.
5. Черенок этого завода и этого года по форме несколько другой.
6. На европейских лопатках тяжи в накладку, как Вы сделали, на Российских они врезались и были заподлицо, чтобы не повредит руку бойца.
