Great lesson! Unfortunately, there are often times (as you know, of course) that schematics are unavailable. What is your process for determining the 3V/5V power rail locations? I just wanted a different "perspective" on this subject as I have one but am always looking to shorten the time troubleshooting a "dead motherboard" (ie no power on the LED). Take care and thank you again for helping this community of technicians!
I'm lucky because I found your channel on RUclips, as I'll be able to learn the basics of electronics and also improve my English language, because you speak in a understandable language and also don't speak too
10:35 Great video, but you should also mention that when the adapter light turns off due to a short circuit, it stays OFF even when you unplug the DC jack from the motherboard. You need to unplug the power cord from the mains and then plug it in again to restart the adapter. You didn't include this part in the video, and it's important for beginners. By the way, I'm also a beginner and a new fan of your channel :)
1 question. If the very beggining we knew that there is a short because the led wnet off ,,that means the mosfet cannot be faulty because that doesnt cause short :/ am I correct? also if I do not make a bridge on mosfet but simply remove it ,will that be the same solution to go ahead?
I sure would like to see you make a complete video you taking maybe lap top that don't work and troubleshoot it from beginning to end step by step. Your methods. That would be nice if you did a few different repairs.
Hello engineer, I greet you from PERU 🇵🇪, and thank you very much for the video, which by the way is very well explained on how we should find a short circuit on the board, thank you very much, good engineer, I have a question, could you show the adapter that I use to detect the short, how it did it, or how much volts and Amperage it should be, thank you.
hello , at 09:40 you shorted mosfet source to drain , the question is we have to short all pin on source and all pin on drain connect together by wire ?the secend question is did you use spical wire for make a short ? thnx

Please can you help me out ? I have HP ProBook 4540s and the cap lock light use to be on even when power off. It has caused me change of batteries and keypad. It also makes continuous beeping sound. Though, after changing the key pad, the beeping will stop only to start again after some time. Please, what could be the cause. I need serious help here.
The Caps Lock light staying on and continuous beeping can indicate a hardware problem. It might be related to a few potential issues: Keyboard Issue: Even though you’ve changed the keypad, ensure the replacement is compatible and properly installed. Sometimes, incorrect installation or a faulty replacement can cause similar issues. Battery or Power Supply Problem: Ensure the battery and power supply are functioning correctly and are compatible with your laptop. Try running the laptop on AC power without the battery to see if the issue persists. Motherboard or BIOS Issue: The problem could be related to the motherboard or BIOS settings. Resetting the BIOS to default settings might help. If the problem persists, there could be a deeper issue with the motherboard. Hardware Diagnostics: Run HP’s built-in hardware diagnostics to check for any hardware issues. You can usually access this by pressing a specific key (often F2) during startup. Good luck.
are inductors are supposed to have voltages? i tested my laptop's inductors i read no voltages tho the laptop is working fine, i just disassembled it for educational purposes
I saw in the last schematic, towards the end, The source of mosfet is connected to +19v batt.. I'm always used to seeing the drain connected to +19 v battery side.. I have never seen this before in most of your videos. What is the difference plz
Nice Question, the source can be connected to 19 v when the Moseft is P-channel, and when the mosfet is N-channel the drain is the terminal that will be connected the The 19v power rail. and usualy the mosfets used are N-channel

Performing hard reset will only fix my issue for few days, makes my laptop work for few days, again the power issue persists with my Dell G15 5511. I mean my laptop gets dead at the place where it is kept shut down. Could you please tell me how can i fix it Permanently?
i have a lenovo T470s laptop that wont power on and wont charge either and when adapter plugged in the indicator light doesnt show at all but when i test the power jack i get 20v power from the adapter. the indicator light is on a seperate micro board for usb. its mother board seems confusing and is very compact. any advice.
Regarding this i followed some previous teachings and checked out the board. the 19v power rail seems okay when i checked since i can detect it in most of the areas on the board even the at the power switch i manage to get 3v. this issue basically started after some tripped over the adapter wire while it was connected to the laptop. there seems to be no shorting. but if it fails will just borrow another and finish some assignments as i keep this one for the mean time. am unable to join the patron area for now where you reccomended but hopefully will do with time but other wise thanks for the videos.👍
also why the mosfet doesnt provide 19v if there is a short on the other site :( i dont get it.. if the mosfet ok then should be 19v at the other side no? :/ we should understand the goal of mosfet actually..
much easier to inject power to the motherboard to see whats over heating and use flir camera or put freeze spray over it either way you find it much faster , i never ever use diagrams waste of my time
