- Hello :)
This is the requested transcription I've done of the Atlanta Rhythm Section song "Spooky" from their 1979 album "Underdog". Paul Goddard was the bass player on this track.
You can find this transcription at Muzento when you sign up with an Intermediate Lesson Plan.
This is a groovy, straight-ahead rock tune. For me, it started to come together when I really paid attention to the articulation on the C# (just before the pull-off on the high E). Make sure that note is short and the next note long (the B). Once I got that in my ear it started to tighten up a little more :)
I also decided to play the C# on the E string. I found (again for me) there was less noise from the bass and less chance of me flubbing up. It gave me a more consistent and reliable sound.
I really hope you enjoy it :) Don't forget to "like" and "subscribe" and thanks for watching :)

ARS is my favorite southern band. Very underrated.Paul Goddard was an amazing bass player. Anybody out there who hasn't heard Another Man's Woman from the Red Tape album your really missing out.
Thanks for the tip ;)
Beautifully done. Thanks
Thanks a lot!
Awesome transcription Mr. Fairweather ! Such a great song for bass players to get down on. I don't even consider my self a bass player, but it's fun to play. On some of these songs (this was definitely one of them) I'm quite thankful for the slow- speed options You Tube features until I can play it at normal tempo. Thank you.
You're very welcome. Have fun with it :)
I just got back into listening to Atlanta Rhythm Section and came across this version of Spooky, songs from my youth. I had not heard it in so long and the bass line really struck a chord with me, no pun intended. I play a bass (some argue it's a matter of opinion. :) and I'm so happy I found this cover. Really good job and thanks for doing it so well, I know it takes dedication to do it this well and it's appreciated. There are a few cool changes in this version and you captured them well, I suspect that you also thought that they were cool.
I enjoyed doing this one. It was fun :) I hope you get a chance to work on this one...thanks!
Thank you for doing this. Great work, great playing. Much appreciated!
My pleasure...thank you ;)
Thanks yet again Greg
my pleasure Ruby...thanks!
Wow ! I think this is outstanding how well you demonstrated playing the bass cover of this gem of a song . I like watching the bass tabs to give me some idea just how you actually play the bass guitar to the song. So cool how a person creates the bass tabs for a song. Thanks for the high quality entertainment.
Hi J, thank you very much for your comment. Comments like yours motivate and inspire me...thank you! :)
Thanks Greg. Love ARS. Paul Goddard was their bass player that unfortunately passed a few years ago. He created great bass lines. Great selection. Thank you Frank
Thanks for the info Frank...enjoy :)

hey Juan...glad you like it :)
Nice Greg
Thanks Frank
One of my favourite songs , (originally done by the classics 4 ).. Happy Together would be the other one.
The original classic 4 guitarist and songwriter was a founder of ARS.
cool...I'm glad you like it :)
@@TheJtbass456.. Yes , I knew that.... I still have the original classic IV EP with Stormy ( I do that song in my Santana tribute show ) Spooky , Traces ..and Everyday with you girl ...
Que somzeira ! ^^ Parabéns muito bom !
thank you! :)
Hey good work with this bass rift, it would be super duper cool if you learn Standing in the rain by Don ray!!!
Thanks! I'll check it out.
Very nicely done - I am curious what instrument plays the high E in the beginning sequence and first verse. I always thought it was the bass but it leads to weird timing to try and grab the B.
I had a listen and I think it's just a guitar? Thanks!
Hey Greg can you break down synth bass to tabs
Hi Sameo, I can. It depends on the tune of course, but usually I can. Thanks :)
@@BassCovers I wanted to learn the bass lines from Loose ends stay a little while child and slow down
:)
