The broom thing is almost definitely better than the sticky traps. Sticky traps mean slow death by starvation or poisoning or suffocation while one broom beat is a quick death. We sometimes get mice and occasionally get rats in the house and they're so huge that we have to get them in these rabbit size cages (one of the rats we caught was about a foot long, not including the tail, and huge) and once they're in there we drop them in water and drown them.

It's pretty simple, you get those plug in noise things for rodents that you put in your wall and it hurts their ears and they run away, more of a humane way of getting rid of rodents without blinding them and hitting then with a broom.
i have a mouse in my condo, at first i unsuccessfully tried the humane catch and release traps, but after weeks of sleeping with one eye open, now i am on the hunt to end this creature. i'm vegan so this isn't my preferred nature. New motto 'no sleep you die'
