The title "grunge" made me think of Nirvana so I tried hard to find inspiration of Nirvana in this song. The guitar bits in the verses (and bridge) sounded a bit like the verse in Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box". A much more distorted version, sort of. I think I'm trying too hard to create connections.
+Masonzero Digital Works LMAO they are not the beginning of a pimple on Courtney love's ass, forget Nirvana, this band has no decent influences, if they did they might be good, they sound like typical emo contrived corporate over produced shit.!!!! are you 9?
+damm jan What? I used to listen to this band in like 2010 when they were doing something interesting with their music. Now they're pretty generic, I was just wondering if a song titled "Grunge" might have some grunge influences. And maybe I thought a little deep into it, but it seemed like they drew some subtle influences from Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box". Also, who cares how they compare to other bands that they were influenced by? Let people enjoy what they want, even if its nothing revolutionary.
Masonzero Digital Works I can express what I want, as can you, this is a public forum and further more, grunge was a media hype label that tried to categorize many bands from the same region and lump them together and they did not sound alike, yes Nirvana was influenced by the Melvins, and other punk influenced bands from pearl jam to mudhoney, then other bands like Soundgarden and AIC and the screaming trees, were heavier, darker or more melodic, still none of them sounded alike, but they ALL still have their OWN individual SOUND,so the word grunge really can't describe a genre of music,, can't label great art, but for the band above TWA they sound like every other emo/screamo over processed cookie cutter band the corporates have spewed out over the years like pop music, those bands have no true individual sound, it's pathetic..
+damm jan Fair enough about grunge. I grew up listening to all of those "grunge" bands. They all sounded unique to an extent, which is more than I can say about the metalcore/post-hardcore scene like The Word Alive. I used to like TWA's stuff, but this album sounds pretty generic. Either way, I still find many bands that are labelled grunge to share some common qualities. On a sidenote, I saw Mudhoney last summer and it was amazing. it is unfortunate how so many bands in the current metalcore/post-hardcore scene sound the same. It is hard to find something unique, and whenever something unique does come around, it is usually so weird that no one really want to listen to it. Innovations in the genre are few and far between, and it's been this way for the last 7 years. It's a real shame. I find myself listening to music in that genre from 2011 and before, but most music after that is pretty lame. The more time goes on, the less I listen to this stuff and the more I find myself listening to older bands like Led Zeppelin and Uriah Heap. :P
Masonzero Digital Works I agree, and lucky you to see mudhoney, I'm jealous now, lol,,if you like the 90's bands, and you like heavy music, and the classics, have you heard of Mastodon, or corrosion or conformity, anything by faith no more or off ? it's a far better choice than the metal core whatever bands today, lol
2nd fav song off the album and it's sooo good live! Really hope it's in the set list for warped tour and maybe Tony can drive his motorcycle on stage 😎
I mean I love this band and all and I get that you do too but calling people who disliked the video gay isn't really an insult is it?! And also it's really disrespectful to use a sexuality as an Insult
The Word Alive will never disappoint. Saw them play this live and the venue went nuts.
Break me down - goes into the breakdown. Luv it.
Love the motor in the beginning!
Omfg the new sound is just too badass.
And it's gone

favorite song on the album hands down. constantly on repeat!! so glad this album exists.
What a refreshing and amazing new album... every song is so unique! Can't wait to see you guys next month.
This has been my fave from since I saw them perform it live before the album was even out. It's so good!
First song I've hit replay on. Great track and heavy in all the right places
Dang I need to see them live next time they come around. Such solid material from this album
Love telle's vocals in this and the overall feel of the song! Different and cool!!
That breakdown though
The instrumentals in this song are killer
2:37 MY GOD THAT RIFF I think I just came a little
ZaZel i jus wish they made the riffs longer, in most of the songs on the record the sickest riffs only last for a measure or two
Sem dúvida o melhor álbum quê eu ja vi... Tão de parabéns. Conseguiram um fã super fanático.

THIS IS AWESOME!
I mean I love this band and all and I get that you do too but calling people who disliked the video gay isn't really an insult is it?!
And also it's really disrespectful to use a sexuality as an Insult
Mona Nalwaya calm down man, im sorry im so childish with those 5 unlikes, coz i really love this band instantly
Mona Nalwaya also, i dont add "gay" or "lesbian" as "sex" :3
This sounds just like breaking Benjamin but better
well found out selves in you well found ur hell in me
Where the heavy riffing and breakdowns
It's just the evolution of the band, my friend! The best album of them with Deceiver and Empire (EP)
It's just my opinion.
+Saimond Gonzalez They sold out so that went bye bye.GOTTA MAKE THEM STACKZZ YO
+joemcbobinite they want to make racks
Intro sounds like motorcycle or muscle car
They need to sound like deceiver or life cycles again
This is my new anthem🤗🤗🤗🤗
