I got mine by joining the military worked on Fighter aircrafts fastest way of getting the experience u get paid learning - school is about a year long and the washout rate is high- but of you do graduate u get a $40,000 bonus lump sum check !
Wish me luck. I am currently training to be a 6400 basically trained avionics tech for the USMC ... I've signed a 5 year contract to serve my country and learn a trade. Starting to have second thoughts about job opportunities outside the Corp that pay well. Growing fear that only jobs that pay 20$ an hour will be there for me. I just want to make 60k and fix small components at a bench. What systems should I look to train on? - radar? - flight control? - cryogenics? - counter measures? - weapon systems? I plan on living in Louisville KY when I get out. Some companies with major facilities there are; - Raetheon - UPS - Major airlines ....... I just want to play the best hand possible I only have one shot at this... So if you have valuable info please share it... Good day.
Hi everyone, I’m from Singapore, is there any experienced LAE willing to share with me how to become one and is it true that if you want to become a LAE, you must be 100% interested and willing to work under aviation industry for life? I’ve just completed my diploma and planning to take a degree+LAE combined course which will secure a LAE and job in SIA or taking a more common course like electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering? However, I can’t decide what to pick and I’m still very unsure what future I want to achieve... I heard it’s too competitive in LAE and the salary is fix at some point even though you’re on your top of your job. I have interest in aviation industry. However, I’m not sure if it’s suit best for my future or maybe in the future market...
Do I have to go to college or university to become an avionics technician or is that for avionics engineering I'm very confused is it a university or a technical school to become an aviation avionics technician? I live in Florida if that helps. Thank for your time.
May I suggest you call or visit your local colleges and talk directly with aviation engineering tutors and lecturers for the best advice. Also, contact aviation companies and airlines and ask them what they prefer and which routes they recommend.

@@emilio2647 I would imagine so. I'm not an expert but it seems likely. Talk to your tutors about it. Good luck!
which has higher salary, avionics technician or aircraft mechanic?
It depends on where you work, you work for, and how much experience you have. Do you what interests you and the money will come.
I think there’s more a&p than avionics techs. You can contact airplane manufacturer and airlines they will tell. General aviation don’t pay has well.
And South Africa 🇿🇦? (The universities)
University of the Witwatersrand & University of Cape Town.
Ben Lovegrove Thank you, will investigate further
