Every time I return here, I am amidst an insurrectionary tale in my life and it keeps soothing my soul in as much as it respects individualism, roots, connection and art. ❤️🔥 I discovered it through Hakim Bey - T.A.Z. when I was homeless, squatting and giving up on Marxist bullshit, only only to embrace a truly anarchist modality. I keep getting goosebumps listening to this 🥹
Some of the greatest musical moments in PBS history and one of the best 54 minutes in television history IMHO. Any concertgoer who can say they witnessed Pharoah Sanders, Bootsy Collins, Zakir Husain & Buckethead playing on the same stage are very lucky indeed. Thanks, Bill.
I can't imagine anyone other than Bill Laswell bringing together this all-star lineup of world-class musicians from around the world to play on one stage. So good.
Bill Laswell cannot be truly explained in mere words, music is the only form to show his intense and wonderful talent. Play Toronto someday PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Truly. A force of nature. His destiny. He is so low key in interviews. He is dedicated, loves it. Said he didn't intend to record and produce it just happened out of "necessity"! Well thank goodness. 🎉
I just scrolled through the Chapters....AND....What A Wonderful Line-Up Of Very Talented Musicians ....Thanks To All And acmilano for uploading this compilation....this may be uncommon and not populist music on yt ... But every performanc has a a great musical value making it Pure Quality Listening Pleasure.
Watching this on PBS in 06 opened new worlds to my ears and tastes. Blew me away. Recorded it but lost it. Now very grateful for its return to my senses.
"Tabla Beat Science" first segment 🕉 Tala Matrix- Axiom, 2000 Live in S.F. at Stern Grove- Axiom, 2002 Talamanam Sound Clash: Further Adventures in Hypercussion- DVD Axiom, 2003
Bill does know how to put together some wonderful elements! Thoroughly enjoyed everything I am aware of that he's been involved in. It was great finding this video today. I will wear it out!
Pete Cosey is supposedly in there at the end too, although his performance was edited out according to Wikipedia, et al. If anyone can see him in the video or knows why he got axed drop us a line...
This is a priceless surprise coming on RUclips this Sunday morning. My favorite musicians. Where have you been?! I've had cd's and mp3's for years but failed to find this. I have seen the wonderful Tabla Beat Science of course. Thanks Bill and all.
The Bucket 🪣 master! Saw him one new years eve at the Great American Music Hall in S.F. He was by himself! It was totally captivating. One of the best new years ever! 🎉
Folks- this is an edit of: 5 April 2005 2-hour WTTW Studios, Chicago performance (!) Bill Laswell, Axiom Sound System, Musical Freezone Thought you might like to know! 🕉 💖 🌟
the second part was not broadcast ... late in the first part, Bootsy and others on stage ... the second part gets even funkier ... sadly, PBS has not released any video of the remainder of the concert.
Bill Laswell married Gigi Shibawbaw of Ethiopia… then produced her music and later, took all her money during his divorce of her…. Maybe the kind of man Phil Spector turned out to be…. A user of women while producing phenomenal music recordings…. So sad….
Anybody listening in 2024 ?
