Israel had been waiting for generations for a king to come. They had been promised a Messiah to restore glory to Israel. Of course, they envisioned a conqueror, a ruler, a big burly beast of a man to slay their enemies. Instead, they got a baby. A baby that was Emmanuel, God with us. And he wouldn’t rule from the top, but instead from the bottom. He would serve and heal. He would love. He was Love. Love embodied. What a mighty King. REJOICE!
