Public Enemy and Anthrax actually did a tour together after this. People thought it would be a disaster, but they found that the rap and metal audiences had so much in common in terms of their energy that it turned out to be a huge success.

i went to their tour in Oakland while the Oakland Hills fire was devastating the ultra-rich homes. We could actually see the flames thru the Convention Center windows. My friend, goes, "Burn, Oakland Hills, Burn!" (referencing 'Burn, Hollywood, Burn' ;). Thx!

The white bald-headed dude you see on guitar AND ALSO doing the second half of the lyrics is Scott Ian.
And what I REALLY love about this song/video/collaboration is the fact that EVERY member of Anthrax were friends with Public Enemy. This collaboration was JOINTLY suggested by BOTH groups, and what I love even more is the fact that NEITHER group cared if their 'core fans' liked or hated it, they did this ONLY for the love of their craft (music) as well as a mutual respect for each other's genres, and also simply to have fun.

Scott Ian, Charlie, and Frank from Anthrax were definitely big rap music fans in the 80s. They were friends with Beastie Boys, growing up near them. They were huge fans of Public Enemy. Scott Ian wore Public Enemy shirts repeatedly on stage. It got back to Chuck D, and he showed up at one of their shows and loved it. Anthrax approached Public Enemy's management about covering Bring The Noise, but Chuck D thought it was a rap group, then was told it was Anthrax, and he thought it sounded intriguing. Scott Ian, in his book, said they tried to record the song together, fresh, but the schedules didn't line up. They ended up having to take the original, and cut the vocal tracks to line up with their music track. Then they asked Public Enemy to do a coheadlining tour. They had Primus and Ice T open and another band. First night, Chuck D said they thought they did great. Then he watched Anthrax. At the time, Chuck D said they didn't have anyone dedicated to running the lights, and matching the performance to stage lights. Anthrax came out and it was a whole performance, lights synced up, highlighting performances, everything was in tune. Chuck D was blown away. He went to them after and asked what they did, and Anthrax told them about their lighting guy that works with the band. They told opened their crew up to Public Enemy, for them to have any of their crew that was free, to learn from Anthrax's guys. Took a couple shows, but Chuck D said they learned so much on that tour on how to put on a full show. He said it was eye opening and he was grateful for Anthrax to help them out like that. It took their performances to a new level. Mutual love and respect from Anthrax and Public Enemy. Chuck D sometimes appears at Anthrax shows now, to do this song. Anthrax has played it live often.

Anthrax is one of the biggest names in 90s metal. They're on level with Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer. They pioneered the rap-metal movement, but that doesn't mean that all of their stuff had rap influences. Most of it is classic thrash metal, but they are a band liked to have fun and experiment, which led to a handful of rap-metal songs. Those songs went on to inspire the likes of Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine.
To dive deeper into Anthrax, I'd advise "Anti-Social", "Indians", and "Got the Time", and "I am the Man".
