These are the good days of Conrail. This was a very successful railroad. If it still was in existence today..... It would still be a very successful railroad. I love seeing those C40-8Ws, SD60Ms, SD60Is, SD40-2s, SD45-2s, GP38-2s, GP40-2s, C30-7s, C30-7As, C36-7s, C40-8s, GP15s, SD38s, U23Cs, B30-7s, and more. Image seeing Conrail ES44AC's, SD70ACE, ET44AH and many more modern diesels. Imagine that.
I'm so glad the last Conrail train was a long one, I'd never get tired of that sound, and I wasn't expecting to see those trailers at the end of the Amtrak lol
thanks again for the videos of days gone by. just love the old videos of the engines that we do not get to see anymore. dont know why but always had a thing for the SD9 engines
We frequent many places along the old water level route from toodle-e-doo into western PA. The portage River and sandusky Bay bridge/ causeway are favorites of the family. The kids, and now grandkids look forward to picnics along the right of way. A second cousins home borders the old nickle plate tracks in Ashtabula. We hear the heavy Eastbounds pulling hard up the slight grade from the Ashtabula River basin toward Conneaut. His grandson now looks forward to counting how many engines, seeing the different types of cars (intermodal, unsurprisingly, NOT a favorite-- they've kind of killed the experience), dpus, and the occasional caboose on the twice a day local.
My favorite city Elyria Ohio. And I know, where a set of 2 tracks run.becaise I haul steel pipe there for 4 years and seen 3 trains running different ways on them many times.

Thank you for a great movie ! All these freightcars, almost none with graffiti...miss the blue railroad.
Well shot, artful and always a treat for the eyes. Thank you for sharing!

3 months later but yes and no, there is a water way that leads to lake erie called the sandusky bay and there is a bridge there.

What camera did you use because it is wonderful for this time?
I didn't take this and I don't know the exact type of camera other than it was the same professional-type of camera used by news crews.
Ok thank you it just seemed really good for the 20th century
