As a raiders fan, I am overall pretty comfortable with the direction our club is headed. I think it’s gonna be a tough year this year, which sucks, but I have a lot of confidence in our juniors coming through. Hopefully we are coached well over the next 24 months and we can push with a competitive side. 2019-2020 were two huge years, before a down year in 2021 and then two very odd years in 22-23 (broncos choking us a spot in 22 and then our terrible +/- in 23). We’ve got plenty of cap space at the moment I believe to sign some good players and resign some of our players.
To answer your question on us being underestimated, I believe we are being accurately rated based on who we have in key positions. I really like our forward pack, but our 1, 6, 7 and 9 seem to be our major question marks hence why we are being rated as spoon calibre. The big “loss” is Jack Wighton, however while I believe he is a club legend and a great player, I think both the raiders and Jack needed a change. I truly believe he was over it last year at times, and I haven’t seen him play with the same hunger we’ve seen at his peak and Origin since 2020. Overall, I’m expecting a very tough year this season, but I think with some good management we could build a competitive finals side in the next 2 seasons

10. Joseph Tapine (co-captain, prep him for Whitehead’s retirement)
11. Hudson Young
12. Elliot Whitehead (co-captain) (leant towards Hosking but I think Ricky will go for Elliot)
13. Corey Horsburgh
14. Hophea Puru
15. Josh Papalii
16. Emre Guler
17. Zac Hosking
Honourable mentions: Trey Mooney, Morgan Smithies, Tom Starling
Only alternative id consider is switching Horse to prop and having Puru at 13, allowing Starling to the bench.

As a raiders fan I have to absolutely agree with you. The forward pack is in my opinion one of the better packs in the comp, but their problem is backs. Their centres are pretty good, wingers can be good. But we are missing a good fullback and a five eighth. That’s where the Raiders will fall off this year. Comparing us to the tigers too is also not an unfair comparison. I’ve compared the 2 clubs since the start of 2022. Raiders need Weeks to have an amazing year to be around that 9-12 position. If our backs don’t light up then 13-17th doesn’t seem unrealistic.
