      The example that always show how dumb this conversation is, is looking at last year's WCF. Jokic was absolutlely cooking AD. So then Darvin Ham switched to having Rui take guard him with AD on help. Very few people criticized AD like they do Rudy. It's just that people don't like Rudy.

    • @leonlee877
      @leonlee877 4 месяца назад +8

      This is not entirely true. Kat can guard Jokic better because he's physically more capable to disrupt Jokic's post ups with his base and is more physical whereas Rudy doesn't use any part of his base (if he has any) to disrupt Jokic's base. Instead, he gives Jokic a lot of space for him to use his footwork on Rudy and score. Kat can give more problems with Jokic because Jokic can't physically back him down as much as he can with Rudy. And in those situations, Rudy is no where close enough to be considered helpful. Defensively or Offensively. He has no instinct for basketball other than just him being tall.

    I don't think the fact the Celtics have had an easy playoffs matters for this team particularly. Reason being this Celtics core has gone thru a ton together and all these conference finals and a finals and had so much tough playoff experience that the fact that this run has been easier i don't think will really effect them negatively. I think 9 days rest is actually a much bigger issue than how tough our playoffs have/haven't been.

    Really liked Austin on here. As far as NFL comment, while I agree that some NBA players are capable of playing the actual position, there’s a difference in having the ABILITY to be able to play a position vs actually suiting up and colliding with players out on the gridiron. There may be one or two guys that would actually be up for that task, but most wouldn’t even if they had NFL level talent. I think that’s where the NFL players have a hard time agreeing

      I'd argue if the players never got NBA consideration or NBA money they'd have more desire to go through that for NFL money. It's life changing opportunities for not just themselves but their families. The ability to not really risk your health and still have that is available to them so they'd never consider risking their health for it. However if it was never an option they may be able to make that switch.

    its driving me just a little bit nuts that when the Lakers were playing Denver, everyone kept blathering about how the lakers led for 70% of the minutes and built this narrative that they could very well win the series based on how a few breaks here and there they are up 3-1 vs down 3-1 blah blah blah. THE WOLVES ARE IN THE SAME BOAT NOW! They have been up by 2-4 pts with 4-1.5 minutes to go in all the games, and everyone talks about how bad Dallas has been other than the clutch but the wolves have been bad too, and continuously finding themselves in situations where they have a chance late in the 4th. Denver is in a historically impossible situation to fumble at this point we get it, but these5 games could have played out differently and if you are evaluating things honestly you have to consider the chance that the wolves string a game or two together and make this at least interesting.

    You know whats crazy about the KAT fouls is that, lets take Jaden McDaniels and Ant-Man, they also get reach in fouls but Jaden and Ant also get steals. Those other guys get enough confirmation bias that it makes sense they might gamble a bit too much because they actually get a payoff from time to time, but KAT NEVER has had that reason for confirmation bias. You can literally never point to a play where Kat poked the ball out, not one, I cant recall in the last 3 years a play where KAT actually got all ball on a reach in and poked it out. Its nut that he just barrels into people head on in the charge lane, and he those just dumb KAT paws like someone in the stands has a laser dot and he cant help himself but swipe at it.

    I dont understand how ppl had wolves in this series? They went further then I expected, it couldnt last. Rudy gets played of the floor sooner in the playoff usually . Theres enough data about him hes over 30, this is not his first playoff. Ant is great, but hes still work in progress, hes playmaking is not great, hes got 1 speed and thats it, when team has rim protectors and big mobile wings thats not a series for Ant. Suns have no rim protection Denver is also not great at it so Ant could do what he does best - attack. On the other end if you want to guard Luka Luguentz Dort is a prototype - big, strong, fast... Wolves dont have anyone that fits description - jaden is too small hes been on Lukas back in jail whole series. You also need to be fast and switchable - in come Rudy and Kat, so NO. Try drop in P&R - youre dead, try blitz - Luka gives it to Lively at FT line, Lively is a great playmaker, drops the pass in split second and its an open shot every time.
    On both ends Mavs had big advantage. You could see in halfcourt points per possession, it was crazy, Wolves havin 0,4 while Mavs had games with 1.5 - that means youre F-ed, theres no solution to that.

    This is not about Rudy being a foreigner. Wemby deserves the award way more than Rudy does. Luka will have a lot more problem Wemby vs Rudy! He deserves the DPOY because guards 2nd guess driving when he’s inside and he alters shots? So does Wemby… way more! Even Lively has the same defensive gravity. Ant aint driving when DLive’s in there. If he does, Ant missed more often than not. Plus DLive switches better and plays better perimeter defense. Players hate Rudy because he’s a cheap shot artist who has to play dirty to play his brand of defense. On the center spot Rudy’s not even top 2 or 3. Wemby deserved it and even DLive at the later part of the season overtook him. Hell, both of the Mav’s centers were more intimidating than Rudy and had more blocks each!

    Yo you HAVE to get rid of this nationalist as a reason people don’t like rudy take. It’s so reductive and simple, man. Get past that. It’s corny and misses the story.
    You did it with Draymond saying he’s xenophobic kinda thing when that’s not it at all. Nurkic and gobert are unlikeable because they act like they’re something special when they’re not. They’re mid-tier players acting like top tier players, so guys challenge them. It’s nothing to do with being foreign. Draymond gives jokic and luka and manu and bogut props. He credits bogut for teaching him nba defense. Get past that stuff man. Very very weak part of your analysis, ryen.

    • @drewengel7073
      @drewengel7073 3 месяца назад +1

      The nationality is definitely a part of Draymond's problems. If he was just going after as you say "mid-tier players acting like top tier players" then why has Draymond never had a problem with American born players that supposedly fit into that mold. Draymond has also done stuff to Sabonis, but he doesn't fit that mold either. Rudy is only seen as a part of that mold by players, but executives and coaches clearly find him to be a top-tier player, many reporters have said that they talk to coaches about who is the hardest to plan against and the answer is often Rudy.
      Draymond's problems with Rudy seem to stem from the fact that Rudy is European and that Rudy is considered better than him at defense, leading to a perverted jealousy, that's probably due to the fact that Draymond knows deep down that without Steph, Klay, KD, and Kerr, he wouldn't have any rings. The fact that Draymond's criticism with Rudy is often seen as either going too far or for going after things out of Rudy's control, like a play that Rudy had no chance of making an impact on, has been readily apparent throughout these playoffs. Both Kenny and Ernie got quite annoyed over Draymond's antics regarding Rudy. Even Luka, who does not seem to particularly like Rudy, thinks Draymond is going too far with his hate of Gobert.

    Tight end specialized wr IS THAT LOVE THE SEE NBA GUYS take on pulling guards or run up the middle or even special teams PLEASE this guy obviously is beyond CLUELESS and who crowned nba best world they have stamina love to see Durant catch a ball near Derwin or Hufanga no need to explain or embid blitz and Zac Martin obliterate Maybe 7 footers against Garrett or Watt with there bend they're qb assuming LeBron calling allrime QB wouldn't have a chance. I try to ignore this meme or whatever but this guy being so sure with NO clue if only he could learn on the field:[]:

    Gobert is underappreciated because guys don’t properly value off-ball / help defense. Playing the game doesn’t mean you have perfect insight - MLB players didn’t properly appreciate walks for a century.

    Every position in the NBA has a set of skills that you need years of practice to obtain. Running, jumping and catching a ball is a lot easier to learn for high end athletes. Austin is 100% correct about this. I bet most NBA players could make more 1 handed diving catches than most NFL players could hit a 3.

    Rivers should have kept his rant to his original point specific to two football positions. The rest of time his rant was all over the place, not very cohesive and came across as childish. As Mike Tyson said, everyone is a tough guy until they get punched in the mouth, i.e. basketball players. Kudos to Ryan for somewhat alluding to this.

    34:06 only problem I have with Rivers comp between the NFL and NBA is him saying that if guys chuck up a few shots and get 5 fouls in 6 minutes they wouldnt make the NBA so the NFL players couldn’t play in the NBA. but he literally said some of the NBA players could get goal line targets in the NFL which if you are only getting goal line targets you’re also not making an NFL team
