  • A jack rabbit naps in the shade on a 95 degree day on the Eastern Montana plains. Insects thrive in the heat of the agricultural wheat fields and bother its ears to the point the rabbit decides to choose another resting spot. A horned lark arrives with a mouthful of insects, drops them, and tries to put them both back in its beak. Nearby, a cottontail also rests in the shade provided by the geography of badlands that is in short supply amongst the wheat fields.
