      They're going to be printing archetypal bosses for years to make up for the damage Snake-Eyes has done to deckbuilding. They felt like they were built to perfectly make every boss monster rogue players were using to justify banning them. Now you play the new pushed archetypes that build themselves or you go play another game.

    I have an issue with the sentiment of us saying: "If card didn't do x, y & z i wouldn't have a problem with it." You can say that about any card. Good or bad.
    This goes back to our issue with card design. We don't like any of it. Whether it be good, mediocre or bad. Going to fiendsmith as our main example, the problem with them is that they are generic, and that they don't lock you. If they had a lock of some kind, like we all say that we want them to have, we would have the nerve to also complain and say: "This could of been good if it didn't have a lock."

    • @PapajusLtu
      @PapajusLtu 11 часов назад +2

      @@jtalkalot19 after reading your post I realised that we haven't had a proper meta archtype that had a proper archtype lock and not semi-lock to specific mechanic or type
      What was the last at least decent archtype that locked you into that archtype only?
      Problem with generic lock like fusions or fiends is that they are just played in a deck where it doesn't matter and usually they can still add busted support.
      Just look at plant piles.. they lock into plans but make even more toxic endboards then any meta deck without lock

    • @justjustin1200
      @justjustin1200 9 часов назад

      I think any archetype should lock, if Fiendsmith had Fiend lock, it would just be Fiend support, granted there's a lot of good fiend decks these days, but Snake-Eyes wouldn't be able to abuse it, just like Snake-Eye should be Fire locked, it would completely prevent them from using I:P, and pre-banlist Apollousa, it would be a low ceiling highly consistent deck with the non-engine keeping it alive

    • @jtalkalot19
      @jtalkalot19 8 часов назад

      @justjustin1200 it's hard because the community doesn't know what they actually want. I'm thinking back to the kitchen sink decks in 2022. We're so anti-archetype at that point that we should have been applauding those decks. Instead, it was received very negatively. I didn't understand because I thought this was what we wanted.

    • @chewdoom8415
      @chewdoom8415 6 часов назад +1

      In this case though, it just goes back to his stance on generic omni negates. "Good card" is too broad in this case because it fails to address how some do not like specific design choices. You are right when this comes to the community as a whole though because Josh and other competitive player's who have a more analytical approach to the game in these discussion videos are the minority. Even then, I know that we can find some or what many would view as contradictions or controversial takes (circular and runick come to mind) on Josh's end as well.
      And you have a point about the card designs issue, which is a reality when you have so many people with diverse opinions, biases and preferences.
      I would also say that a lack of patience is part of that. I remember seeing yacine, for example, complaining about bonfire being once per turn during his initial reaction. He failed to take into consideration what could potentially happen once more Pyro monsters were added to the game that functioned as starters.
      It is similar to to how people would probably have reacted to fiendsmith. The majority lacks the patience or foresight to see how something can become progressively more powerful and they don't think about the impact in the long run.

The problem is the power level of the going second cards were primarily designed when omni’s and floods were at their all time high. Now that a lot have been restricted or banned we are in a position where unless Konami consistently prints an Omni, cards like Droplet DRNM and Evenly will become overpowered. If both players are limited to only ending on in engine disruption and zero hard negates, it will be a race to who can fit the most of DRNM, Droplet, Super Poly and Evenly in their decks.

Same when OCG hit a bunch of Kashtira cards to kill it, but TCG only needs to ban Arise-Heart, or OCG hit a bunch of Spright cards, but TCG only ban Elf, etc etc. Every deck is the same, SE included, without Flamberge the deck just dead even with everything at 3, but Konami just refuse to touch Flamberge for some reason, and chose to bloat the banlist instead, which is stupid

      Hitting a deck to a point it is unplayable instantly is never a good thing. By doing so Konami will never blame themselves for creating such powerful cards, because all they need to do to address the problem is to just drop a banlist and ban every card the just created 3 months ago. In fact many players don't like the forbidden category of the banlist, and the TCG has a format called "Traditional" where all forbidden cards are limited just for that. I honestly hate that Konami's current strategy seems to be: release broken archetype to compete with current broken archetype, then completely nuke the old archetype on the banlist, thus making the strategy unplayable and paving the way for the new archetype to be the strongest in the new format by far, only to repeat the process ad infinitum.
    Honestly, I wish that Konami would just...not completely nuke archetypes and realize that powercreep is a thing and that many of those cards you hit on the banlist are no longer going to be seen as banworthy 1 to 3 formats down the road.
    In an ideal world, Konami would change its fundamental game design to shift away from power creeping every format with new cards, and instead shift to banning the problem cards - keeping them banned, and not printing cards that are equally or more banworthy. This way, decks will be playable for longer, the game will be more diverse, and we can have formats where there aren't definitive best decks because there will be an abundance of strategies, many of which counter the others leading to no singular best deck, or two, three definitive best decks.

      The OCG has a tendency to semi hits first, maybe to let people know cards will be banned in the upcoming formats. Stops you from buying a play set of a card before it gets banned without changing much about how it’s played while still legal

      They were probably thinking of limiting it at the time but it fell completely off the map for a while because we were just getting out of a meta with relevant backrow. These days people don't even run backrow hate for big tournaments because S:P is usually enough to clear a Nightmare Pain or something similar.

    • @mrsquadbot
      @mrsquadbot 14 часов назад +7

      You can bait an omninegate, having a spell/trap out is fair when cards like evenly exist or to have answer to Nibiru. Appo is an issue because you can't bait her unless you have a spell/trap form of out or chain 2 ghost ogre, because guess what, if all form if your interaction in your hand are monsters you need half of your hand to deal with her alone, and this is if your opponent just auto negates everything. It's also very unfair how Appo is an anti Nib route while also still functions an interrution on your turn, Baronne as an anti Nib route at least turns her off completely next turn

    • @vampireguy92ryan81
      @vampireguy92ryan81 14 часов назад

      My only problem with baronne is that it's abused everywhere and it can't be in the same format where you can just keep resetting the negate.

    • @geek593
      @geek593 14 часов назад +3

      Neither were a problem, period. They only ever became oppressive in the context of other wildly broken cards. In the case of Baronne it was Halq and Scythe and later perfect consistent levels E-Tele'd from the deck that stakced up from Fomula to Baronne that spit two materials back onto the board for I:P, in the case of Apo it was an extremely resilient and layered engine that made so many bodies it could be thrown in anywhere while also setting up all of the in-engine interruptions as well. Engines and broken resource generation are the problem. Killing the free agents just makes the game harder for people who don't want to play the new pushed cards that can play just fine without them.

      @@vampireguy92ryan81 So this is gonna sounds kinda weird but I don’t even think that’s true. People need to realize that inherently some extra deck mechanics are better than others and Synchro is one of the worst. That’s why if you really pay attention to the decks Baronne was “abused” in was actually just Synchro decks like Mannadium, Synchron, Superheavy, Infernoble, Swordsoul, etc. so why is that a problem
      Obviously Snake Eye and Tear are individual exceptions but the deck can be balanced in other ways to make baronne less efficient like ash and Diabell to 1 (which when together was when Baronne was summoned most) making it so inconsistent to the point it’s just not optimal. Appo is different in the sense BECAUSE it’s a link monster. There’s less requirements to make links than a synchro which is why even though Baronne is an Omni it’s still way weaker than Appo in my eyes

    • @vampireguy92ryan81
      @vampireguy92ryan81 11 часов назад

      @adanganaafan2811 I agree apo was very strong, but I say abused as in every deck that wasn't synchro based, threw in a way just to make lvl 10s like baronne and dis pater. That's the biggest problem as generic stuff gets thrown everywhere, yes, making them better, but at the same time, then you see the same generic stuff in almost every deck. That's the reason I wholly believe things should be locked or restricted to prevent things, but then ik that makes everything weaker or mid.

      Behead Sanctifire. The rest of the deck is perfectly playable as a shockingly high skill slippery maneuver deck. You have to know how to move your pieces around to get access to more soft OPT banishes on your opponent's turn. It's one of the coolest decks ever printed that gets thrown down to cringe tier because it has the ability to cheese with a floodgate.

    • @Dragonpower17

      @omegaeraser nah, while I do play branded, and you can play without puppet, but there's a reason ppl who don't play it don't do well in tournaments. Every topping list plays it because SE plays thru a lot, yubel can reverse otk and tenpai can just otk thru most boards. Those decks have potent 1- card starters and 15+ HTs. I wish branded didn't need puppet. Sanctifire is a dope card when not used with puppet-like cards.

  • @flackenstien

    The thing with the Snake-Eyes full power being all hit cards now like Tear is that they could easily solve it by fully banning like 2 cards (Flamberge, Poplar) and then Bonefire, Diabellstar, and Ash can go back to 3.
    The issue is they are trying to keep the Snake-Eyes deck playable.. in a very toxic way. People will still try to use them, and they will still be able to go off as they used to, just way less consistently. That is unhealthy, for both the user and their opponent.
    It's better to just kill the Snake-Eye deck, and let people still use Diabellstar, Ash, and Bonfire for relatively reasonable things, like accessing Rocket Salamander, Ponix, or Hydrant.
    As for Phantom, not having a hard once per turn on its Summon mechanic is insane. It wouldn't be that bad of a card to deal with if it wasn't turn after turn recycling cards, being linked off, and then dropping another one OR TWO to make your opponent try to play around.
