I have a locking flex head with the thumb lock in the middle of the handle, real annoying and I haven't used it in over a decade. Is there a way to convert it to a non-locking flex head? Preferably with comfort grip?

Hey sir I bought the 4pc impact set love it. It is a snappy.
I have torx screwdrivers just for tasks like this, I find it to be a lot easier than fumbling around with a ratchet and torx sockets.
I use them to take apart my ratchets and some power tools for cleaning and service.
EDIT: I also use them for anything else torx pretty much xD
If I need torque I have torx bits for my ratchet too

Thanks for the video, I really want one of those long 1/4" ratchets and will probably get one soon. That being said I already have 4 other snap on 1/4" ratchets (THL72, THLF72, T72, THNF72)..... it sure is an addiction, but is it ever nice when you have the right tool for the task at hand.
I wish snap on would make an equivalent to the 1/4" extra long in a 3/8" extra long model. Sometimes it would be nice to have the extra length with some belt tensioners, but going to a 1/2" like the SHLF80A isn't always practical.
I would be interested to see or hear about what is involved in some of the race car heads: ie valve materials, valve seats, etc. Also what was it like working with a race team as a cylinder head guy? How many spare cylinder heads are kept on hand, how in depth are the measurements and at what intervals?

Do you think the original cover plate could be machined a little to allow you to use the 3/8ths end? Looks like a different hole size with a basic chamfer.
bosborn1 no we can't because it has a machine relief in there it probably could if you took it to machine shop but it's pretty small so he kind a has a step down on the inside of it that's the issue

I did this HACK/mod on my snap on short handle flex head. It is my favorite ratchet, I use it everyday. I can get into tight hard to reach areas, great for header bolts on hot rod v8 cars. My coworkers said it was dumb to have that style of ratchet, after they had to borrow mine once, they all made one lol.

Haha yep, I forgot to say I had only one question for your time drag racing, what team did you work on??? I have been wrenching on drag cars for 17 years, but not wrenching on the pro's. I'll be close, towards the end of this year I'll be wrenching on a Nostalgia Nitro Funny car. Stepping up from a 7.60 index car. Not as much work as the pro's but still a shit load of work.
Hack. Maybe some input on the fuel mix, why that fuel etc. Do the rules stipulate the fuel? The mix? I love those long handled ratchets.
do soft grip handles can you swap those out with hard handles I have all extreme green tools but I have not seen a extreme green handle ratchet in quarter inch? I've never done that thanks Billy from Boston

Typically if I need something that requires 3/8 torque, I'm gonna use a standard 3/8 ratchet because of the torque rating compared to a 1/4. In my opinion, it's faster to go to my ratchet drawer and switch them out than having to change heads. But, to each their own
The 1/4” anvil will snap at 80 ft lbs. I like the idea of swapping 1/4” to 3/8 for smaller ratchets but that longer version you should just use an FL80. There isn’t that much difference in the head. Definitely lighter though for all day use if you’re not going over say 50 ft lbs.

You need some Snap-On thumb-wheel spinners
I have a few metric reversible flankdrive plus wrenches. You know the ones that have the plastic switch lever on them. Well the 14mm must have broke or something or maybe cheap parts but to loosen the thing didnt want to work anymore. So in One way i see its an upgrade they put a metal switch level and hopefully beefed up the internal gears. Hey Junkie do us the subscribers a favor and put those new metric wrenches through the ringer, but the box end in particular. I might buy a set myself. cheers dude.

A really good idea. But I'm a bit confused as to why you went about it in this way. I have a Snap On 3/8 flex head in a 1/4 body already, I bought it almost 2 years ago. I'm sure they don't make it in the long handled version. But why not just buy the regular 3/8 flex head in the 1/4 body and get that long 1/4 flex like you have and just switch the heads. Not criticizing or any thing just think that would be easier.

Already did the same thing to that ratchet. They put the screws thru that way because they didn't want people putting the 3/8 anvil in these ratchets.

What happened to the “How the Fuck are you” intro?
I have never understand this set up. 1/4 sockets go up to at least 15mm. Why not just use the long 1/4 ratchet the way it is? Working on fasteners bigger than 15mm with a thin ratchet handle designed for 1/4 use doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If you need a long reach tool, that is small and low profile, you could just buy the Mountain/Matco/Carlyle/Icon ratcheting wrench set. Those wrenches are sold under several different names, but all the same wrenches. They are ratcheting fex head, with a directional ratchet switch, and they also have a extended, socket like ofset on one side. They are very long, and more low profile than this ratchet with a short socket.
