As a trans man I don't think there's any issues with using gendered language like 'good boy' as long as he's aware he can correct you at any point if he feels he's not a boy. All of what you're doing sounds good though! Even as someone trans I feel it's tricky to know how to approach these things perfectly. But honestly your approach of basically talking about it all the time rather than randomly sitting them down at some point to have a conversation seems a pretty good way to go.
Yeah I'm nonbinary and I think it's totally fine to tell the child what gender you assume they are. Hearing the incorrect pronouns and feeling "no that's wrong" was an important part of me knowing that I'm trans. I think never being gendered by the world would have made figuring out my identity more confusing and I'd sort of blame myself for being trans? Having had the experience of being gendered as cis for years, I can feel more confident in knowing that's wrong for me and that I'm happier in my current identity.
I know you're getting comments up to your ears re indoor cats, but I think if you are eager to have an outdoor cat/cat once you have a bigger house, a catio/cat run or something could be a good compromise to keep wildlife (and your cat) safe while also having some outside time. I do know indoor cats are much more culturally rare in the UK, but I think it could be shifting and is worth thinking about re: gendered language etc. as well I saw a hilarious reddit comment about someone's toddler asking if daddies can be girls too, cueing a parent having to have a Very Challenging discussion, only to realise the kid was just talking about dads being allowed long hair. i think your conversation frameworks are very interesting though!
Outsourcing potty training is excellent! I've worked in childcare for quite a while and I've taken lead on potty training for multiple families. I think the structure of having the childcare provider being consistent and confident with potty training can help at home. Since childcare is where so many concepts and learning things are introduced, it seems natural for potty training to fit in.
@@sunsets.starlight oh wow! I've mostly worked as a nanny or done childcare from my own home. But all of the bigger centers where I live have classrooms for infants through preschool. Maybe this is an eastern US thing?
@@morehannah Childcare was the catalyst for us to start training...we had a feeling he was getting close but seeing toileting as part of his peers routine sparked an interest in him and we didn't end up having to do any specific training, just sent him into nursery with lots of extra pants and trousers one Wednesday after the key worker encouraged it and by the weekend he had pretty much got the gist. A few accidents here and there but no big feeling of teaching a new concept or reworking our whole routine around a particular method.
Holidays with a toddler? "Don't bother!" (Unless you've got help). 1000% agree! Our favorite holidays are: staying home, bringing toddler to childcare, and having the day off to do whatever we please (spa, boat ride, brunch, day hike, etc.)
With the video not doing well on shorts, i dont know the metrics but anecdotally I don't go near youtube shorts because it's not a platform i consider for them, i barely tolerate reels 😂 youtube is where i come for long-form content and i feel likes a common opinion so maybe that's why it didnt do as well on here?
If you do someday revisit becoming a plant person, I will share with you my plant care strategy: I just get plants that can all do okay being watered once a week. All of my plants can make it on once a week watering, so I just have one day a week when I water all of them. I can't keep up with trying to monitor each one individually. One set schedule works great and gives me a chance to maintenance them as needed (remove dead leaves, deal with any pest infestations, etc.). I have a lot of different house plants, and people think I'm some kind of house plant guru. But that's my entire system. XD
On the short form content topic: I never watch RUclips shorts, sometimes watch Instagram reels, and frequently watch tiktok. If I see something on tt, I usually won't watch it again on another platform, although I may like it on another platform. Not sure if this is true for most viewers, but it makes sense to me that something might not do as well on RUclips shorts despite being engaging shortform content.
Currently living my dream traveling to NZ for a whole year. I can confirm there is so much to see that you definitely need at least 2-3 weeks to enjoy it and not rush too much to one place to the other !
In 2016, the UK vote for Brexit and US vote for Trump happened in the same year. So since the UK had a “good” outcome with Labour, I’m hoping the same pattern will hold for the US!

So chill to watch and listen whilst finishing up a painting for my parents 40th anniversary. The whole family went on a trip for the occasion and I had everybody put handprints on the prepared background. Now I only had to paint their marriage-verse on it and voila, ready to be put up. :) Thanks for the company!
Have you and Dan played It Takes Two together? My husband and I have been playing it for our date nights and it has been a lot of fun! The story line is really sweet, and the puzzles are fun to figure out but simple enough that it still feels like a good casual game to play together. Definitely a good way to build good teamwork and communication skills! 😅
I personally prefer indoor cats, I'm on the team of cats being outside is dangerous, for them, and for the wildlife around them, they are technically an invasive species in most of the places they are, unless you life on a farm and have cats as rodent control, I don't see the point on letting cats roam free, especially in urban and residential settings, plus indoor cats typically live longer in general than free roaming cats. But I do think cats need to be able to go outside, just make sure they have an enclosed space they can go to or harness train them for walks. We have a fully indoor cat, I tried harness training him for walks, but we lived in Korea when we got him and the first 4 years of his life, and even in smaller towns it's just too dangerous to be a cat out on the street, he turned into an extremely skittish cat, afraid of anything and goes feral pretty quickly if outside off of a harness, and absolutely hates all other animals. So he's a loner inside cat, but we do have a balcony he can go on for outside time (on a harness so that he doesn't fall off the balcony, we can't enclose our balcony because the building association/co-op doesn't allow it)

Also trying for a second and recently had an early miscarriage. Totally understand how hard it is to hear about other mums having their second 😢 sending love xxx
Lessons in Chemistry was great!! I also gave that book 5 stars 🌟 Not sure if it’s your cup of tea, but I found Hamnet amazing as well!! It’s like a fictionalised version of Shakespeare’s life, focusing on his son. The book definitely deserves the hype!
In the UK if you have PCOS do you still have to wait a year before access to fertility aids? In my experience, because of the diagnosis it was shortened to 6 months (which is much less daunting if you want that type of help).
I washed dishes, lol. I just read Lessons in Chemistry and really enjoyed it. A friend of mine from England recommended it and I couldn't remember why I had heard of it, so it must have been from one of your earlier videos.
Sorry to hear ttc is getting you down, I remember that feeling so acutely! ❤ Two things that I hope might help a tiny bit (apologies if not) :1) Once I was pregnant with my second I really struggled to be fun mum and do too much with my eldest which was tricky so if you can enjoy those days one on one with Rowan (easier said than done I know!) and 2) you mentioned the eras tour, I have definitely found it so much harder to get out in the evenings now there are two bedtimes for my spouse to do (one still being a baby!) so if you can I'd make the most of being able to go out in the evening.... All that being said though I'm sorry it is rough and your feelings are valid and I'm not trying to 'just you wait...' you 😂
Love your paint by numbers it turned out really nice. I was colouring flowers in an adult colouring book with sparkly bits already embossed on the pages. Not finished yet but its looking good.
I also have PCOS and we're trying for a 2nd baby, I just wanted to say it might be worth getting referred for help. We're going through the NHS referral again to hopefully get back on letrozole which I used to help conceive my daughter. All it does is sees you have a period and tells your body to do that again in a few weeks. Then you can actually figure out your ovulation window and have more chances.
18:24 omg this!!! I am TTC for baby no.1 and this is the infuriating part - constantly doubting myself and feeling absolutely unhinged - being convinced that I’m carrying twins and having negative tests and then just desperately wishing on my period to get me out of the limbo and try again. My partner and I are on a month off for this very reason rn - I couldn’t deal with the constant self-analysing and feeling like my body was playing tricks on me. Found it interesting that even my counsellor assumed I’d want to focus on the early miscarriage I had but I was like personally, I’ve dealt with that and at least I knew! Knew for definite in my body when I was and then wasn’t pregnant, but for me the limbo and phantom pregnancy symptoms are honestly far worse torture! Solidarity Hannah ❤
Just FYI TTC my second time took me over a year. I felt exactly the same as you. Literally, the doctors had no reason why it took so long other than generic "You're stressing about it." "You're putting too much pressure on it." I'm sorry this is so tough on you. Please know you aren't alone in this.
I loved listening and glancing down at this video as I did my part-time copy editing job, as it’s been hard to concentrate later in the day now that I’ve picked up another day job
Thank you for the video! In my experience, early to mid teen years is the best for a bigger family trip. That's what my parents did. I was like 14ish and my sister was a few years younger when we took a big trip like the New Zealand one you want to do. School isn't as full on yet as it will be in later teen years and at that age, my friends and I weren't making more elaborate plans with each other yet, just hanging out at someone's house. So you're young enough that your parents do the bulk of the planning and you don't care, but still you as the kid have enough of an individual personality and maturity that you can do your own research and suggest activities that you think would be cool for the family.
OMG I know this is entirely not on topic, but hearing Hannah talk about clothes made me think of Big Sister Swap, so I looked it up, AND IT'S CLOSED?! I am shocked!
As a non plant person peaces lily's are practically indestructible and even let you know when they need watering my getting a bit droopy. I have killed every plant I ever had except a peace lily

Unfortunately short form on RUclips is just not how most people consumer youtube still. Instagram and TikTok is phone app exclusive, but youtube is very much multiplatform and shorts doesn't work very well on a computer or tv 🤷♀️
so funnily enough, i've been teaching myself to knit and was working on the blanket i'm knitting for my son while watching this video. fun catching up with you!
perfect video for cooking and eating, very interesting! also, love it when kids' concepts of gender still boils down to short/tall or short/long hair, it's so funny
I didn't necessarily make anything, but I did make some progress on sorting out my document of options for PhDs/grad school for this fall and that was also exciting. I do want to do the one paint by numbers that I've had for two years now though, you've inspired me. I have the same issue with the Loops sometimes, especially with orchestras. It takes away some of the fullness of the music and of course the crowd you are in, which you don't always want, especially if they are singing along to Taylor Swift. Although that also sounds like it might be too overwhelming, so I suppose it's best to play it by ear.
hahaha it's really funny. At the end when you said 'did you make any craft while watching this video' i was like OH YEAH i totally am -- I work in the art dept for a tv show and I'm currently paint a bunch of protest signs for an upcoming scene! Love the video! Great chatty relaxing vibes
In terms of RUclips shorts, I watch RUclips mainly on a tablet, and shorts don’t even show up on my sub feed on the tablet. So I never even know if anyone has put out a short unless I check on my phone
I've been unfiddling a massive knot in my yarn and when I say massive I mean I've been unfiddling it for several days, but I made hugh progress while watch this
This was such a small part of the video but I find it so odd to hear about outdoor cats. Where I live, it's a big fine to let your cat outside of your property/home, and quite frowned upon! I would be shocked to hear someone just letting their cat about
Me too. I knew it would be hard but it's so much harder than I was expecting. Basically been living like I'm in lockdown again, with all the added anxiety and not many people to talk to about it too. Hang in there, we can do it and it's all for a good outcome ❤❤❤💖
Ohhh I would love to know the name of the coaching course you're taking and then your thoughts on it? Thinking to get some coaching training to see the difference between that and therapy!
@@laurastarsyeah this is a shame, it's not realistic for most people who want to adopt a cat and they do absolutely fine indoors and tend to live longer lives since they're not constantly at risk of roads, people, poisonings etc. in my area people have been known to shoot them with BB guns or poison them 😢 which is common across the UK
Sadly it’s not ideal to let cats roam free outside, they are a threat to a lot of wildlife species. Cats do not know better but we do. Please people ,read about it! Edit: Thank you for this lovely video, always looking forward to Wednesdays 😊❤
You asked at the end if any of us were doing crafts at the end of the video and I was like no... then realised Im in the middle of embroidering my cargo pants 😂
If you need any more encouragement with the potty training: my sister used nighttime diapers until she was almost 7. She would wet the diaper every single night, and my parents (and doctors) thought something might be wrong but could not figure out what. Turns out she just felt it more comfortable to not get up to pee in the middle of the night over just peeing in the diaper. The one night my parents forgot to give her the diaper on the night time peeing stopped. If your child minder think Rowan is ready for potty training, he most likely is from your story here. And good luck with that 😊
Theres research to suggest that taking maca root stimulates ovulation and can help with trying to conceive for us PCO people if you haven’t looked into it, it might be worth a shot xx
Outdoor cats are *terrible* for bird populations! There’s also an increased risk of fights, disease, getting lost, cars, etc. Many cats love their indoor lives!! Some cats may tolerate leash training if you want to give them the chance to explore the neighborhood in a safe way 😊
This isn't true in the UK. In the UK (and Europe generally) cats are very much expected to have outdoor access, most of the time it is safe for the cat and studies have shown no notable impact on bird populations.
@@WannabeRetro it's really not - road traffic accidents are abundant here, along with poisonings, BB gun shootings, FIV/FELV transmission, fights & subsequent infections... Please please research or ask a rescue before stating that it's safe here as a fact. Besides which just because it's 'the norm' doesn't make it necessarily the right thing to do.
@@emma.greenwood Road traffic accidents are abundant among humans as well lol. You'd still never spend your entire life indoors, or force your children to remain indoors. Living bears some risks, that's just what it's like. Behavioural problems are more common among indoor cats, because for most people it is just impossible to provide enough entertainment and enrichment for a cat to replace THE ENTIRE OUTSIDE WORLD. I'm not saying no indoor cat has ever been happy, but statistically, it does suggest that they are less happy and psychologically healthy on the whole. Frankly, I find it insane that people are really advocating for keeping your cat caged up in a house all their life. Like, have you _seen_ a cat in spring, running around in the grass, sprinting up and down trees, exploring, enjoying the sun and fruitlessly chase after butterflies? How can anybody with a fraction of empathy for their cat advocate for taking that away from them because there is a non-zero chance that it will die of something other than old age?
You mentioned Rowan says "Mummy is Little" - my LO is about 3months older than Rowan, and tends to refer to all male-presenting people as Big and all female-presenting people as Little - no matter their actual size 😂 So, I guess that's how he sees gender at this point
The politics stuff is really interesting. 45:56 I was talking with someone about this for my podcastthingdontmentionit. It's great to not constantly have it on my mind. Having an MP who will listen and is reasonable is so helpful.

I was actually coloring my Moomoni colouring book whilst listening to this Q&A so thank you for the company
Sending all the love for your TTC struggles. So relatable and so tough 💜💜💜
Not quite crafts but this video played as I cut and dyed my own hair 😂 appreciated the company 😉
Finally finishing the paint by numbers I bought at the beginning of 2022 and started in December of last year....
Have you thought of earplugs made for musicians? They help lower the volume but keep the pitch which can help with still being in the moment.
Brilliant q&a 😍😍 I'll admit I fistbumped the air when you said you're watching Our Flag Means Death, it is such a fantastic show
OMG I know this is entirely not on topic, but hearing Hannah talk about clothes made me think of Big Sister Swap, so I looked it up, AND IT'S CLOSED?! I am shocked!
As a non plant person peaces lily's are practically indestructible and even let you know when they need watering my getting a bit droopy. I have killed every plant I ever had except a peace lily
I was knitting my first jumper while listening to this video. I have still a long way to go though!
In the USA. Go Harris Walz!!
I have not made anything whilst watching, i was working (/procrastinating by going to Sweet Home 3D online to figure out much squarespace (not sponsored XD) a room is in my parents' house to redo it next year)
i do historical costuming as a hobby , now that I'm at uni, whereas previously I did an alevel in textile design, while I was watching this video, I sketched out some ideas for an 1860s day bodice to go with a ballgown I previously made. hoping to attend costume college in LA, in the future.
Unfortunately short form on RUclips is just not how most people consumer youtube still. Instagram and TikTok is phone app exclusive, but youtube is very much multiplatform and shorts doesn't work very well on a computer or tv 🤷♀️
I did sew babyclothes whilst listening to your Q&A. Not for me personally, its my job.
Yes, come ro NZ and do a meet and greet while your here.
so funnily enough, i've been teaching myself to knit and was working on the blanket i'm knitting for my son while watching this video. fun catching up with you!
perfect video for cooking and eating, very interesting!
also, love it when kids' concepts of gender still boils down to short/tall or short/long hair, it's so funny
Love the vibe of the video. The split screen is very fun! 😌
Started to knit the second sock of a pair while having a a bit of a lazy end of the working day, very nice listen 💜💜
Gorgeous job Hannah with the painting ❤😊❤
I did some work on my DIY wedding centrepieces while listening!
OMG! I love funny story and Emily Henry 🌞🌺🌊🌞🌺🌞🌊🌊🌺🌺🌺🌞🌊🩵🩵🩵🩵🩵🌞🌺🌊🌞🌺🌺🌊🌺🌞🌊🩵🩵🩵🌊🌺🌊🩵🌞🌞🌞🩵🌊🌺🌺🩵🌞🌞🌞
I was knitting while watching this video 😌
Love hearing all your updates!
I have been really enjoying your More Hannah content so please keep it up!
you are just so wonderful! beautiful painting and Q&A!
I didn't do any crafts while watching this.. but I did fold my laundry 😊
Loved this Q&A! Was great fun listening along whilst cutting out sewing patterns :)
Hi Hannah! Not a bug commenter, but I was doing a jigsaw puzzle while watching, sending love
I've been unfiddling a massive knot in my yarn and when I say massive I mean I've been unfiddling it for several days, but I made hugh progress while watch this
Loved this video Hannah.😊
I was doing an exel spreadsheet for my biz while listening :) thanks
Loved doing my puzzle alongside this video!
You are absolutely fantastic Hannah! Love these kind of videos from you 😊
This was such a small part of the video but I find it so odd to hear about outdoor cats. Where I live, it's a big fine to let your cat outside of your property/home, and quite frowned upon! I would be shocked to hear someone just letting their cat about
Us New Zealanders would love to have you!!! 🥰
This is such a therapeutic video. Also, the final season of Sweet Tooth is just incredible - the best ending of a TV series I've ever seen 🥹
eee we still haven't started it yet - can't wait!
Enjoying this video so much! ❤
I’m currently in my first trimester with my first baby and massively struggling. I feel it’s not discussed enough as it’s truly debilitating.
Me too. I knew it would be hard but it's so much harder than I was expecting. Basically been living like I'm in lockdown again, with all the added anxiety and not many people to talk to about it too. Hang in there, we can do it and it's all for a good outcome ❤❤❤💖
@@p_p_p_p_7732 ahh I’m so sorry to hear you’re struggling too! Hope things are
Improving for you 🥰
I think RUclips shorts are less shareable. I go to Instagram to send things to friends and connect. I go to RUclips for alone time. Idk.
Ohhh I would love to know the name of the coaching course you're taking and then your thoughts on it? Thinking to get some coaching training to see the difference between that and therapy!
Was painting the bannisters in my new house whilst watching, if this counts as creativity😅
Hey just as a heads up for the future having outdoor cats is SUPER bad for the environment and also more risky for the cats 🧡
In the UK most cats are outdoor cats, and lots of rescue places specifically require outdoor space for a lot of rescue cats.
@@laurastars That's so different! Most places in the US strongly discourage outdoor cats, and NZ has outlawed them.
Apparently it's a big UK/US (and Canada) difference! UK seems to be all about outdoor cats which is wild to me, as in Canada it's the opposite.
@@thenopedetectivein France as well, sadly. I don't know about other Europeans countries
You asked at the end if any of us were doing crafts at the end of the video and I was like no... then realised Im in the middle of embroidering my cargo pants 😂
I was knitting :-) Would you like to try fiber arts at some point?
If you need any more encouragement with the potty training: my sister used nighttime diapers until she was almost 7. She would wet the diaper every single night, and my parents (and doctors) thought something might be wrong but could not figure out what. Turns out she just felt it more comfortable to not get up to pee in the middle of the night over just peeing in the diaper. The one night my parents forgot to give her the diaper on the night time peeing stopped.
If your child minder think Rowan is ready for potty training, he most likely is from your story here. And good luck with that 😊
There are more than 2 books in the Murderbot series.
Some cats may tolerate leash training if you want to give them the chance to explore the neighborhood in a safe way 😊
Yeah I don't think cats are a good pet for someone who wants low maintenance pets lol
+
You mentioned Rowan says "Mummy is Little" - my LO is about 3months older than Rowan, and tends to refer to all male-presenting people as Big and all female-presenting people as Little - no matter their actual size 😂
So, I guess that's how he sees gender at this point
I didn't know until this video you had a Gecko called MUSTARD!!!!1!!
Cross stitching whilst watching 💕
My 5 year old daughters favourite colour is lime because of colourblocks 😂
The politics stuff is really interesting. 45:56
I was talking with someone about this for my podcastthingdontmentionit. It's great to not constantly have it on my mind. Having an MP who will listen and is reasonable is so helpful.
I was knitting while watching 😂
me too!! I was working on my cabled jumper
