Great, I lived and grew up in Las Vegas and married a girl from Gallup. The food is great. The locals look at everyone like their tourists but we lived in Vegas Nevada so long that we visit the mountains go camping

Nice video and thanks for sharing! I have done this I-40 drive many times for decades, esp. in the last 12 years living here in Albuquerque. The drive east of the Route 66 Casino is quite steep for a number of miles and glad there are three lanes in that part of the trip. Scenery is more barren than I like to see but the panoramic vistas of the mountains in the distance are nice. Be forewarned about drivers in Albuquerque at all hours of the day, especially at night. Forbes Magazine recently called Albuquerque "The City With The Worst Drivers In The USA." Drunk drivers are a BIG problem, esp. at night on the city streets and on Interstates 40 and 25. And in this video, I saw some moving trucks and trailers and NEVER stay overnight with these at hotels in Albuquerque since the odds are that they will be gone by morning. Happens all too often here. 😢 Finally, I-40 has MUCH semi-truck traffic day and night and be cautious near the big rigs since not all of the drivers drive safely. And road construction and delays are quite common on I-40 since the NM highways take a beating with all the traffic and harsh weather conditions.

I lived in Albuquerque from 1995 to 2016 working as an archaeologist. Made the drive to Grants and Gallup countless times (so I don’t need to watch the whole video) but it’s interesting that you do this. Will check out some of the others.

@paints: Glad you left ABQ. when you did since we are now #6 in the country with the highest crime rates. Criminals are attracted to this city like flies to feces with the VERY lax laws we have and those in power in the city and state NOT caring to make the state safer for all of us. It is so bad that I hope to be out of here in a year or so. NOT the place to spend the rest of my retired life.

Scenery-wise it's very nice, but I avoid driving on I-40 whenever I can. Heavy semi traffic, the road itself isn't the greatest, and they're ALWAYS working on it somewhere.

I sincerely hope everyone watching will take note of our sorry a** highway surfaces. I used to believe that I-80 thru PA was bad, being under construction for the last 50 yrs. or so.I have lived in at least 5 different states over the last 50 some yrs. and i gotta say N.M. does have some of the worst roads i've ever driven on. If you think I-40 looks/is bad I live about 230 mi. south by southeast from Albq. so i challenge you, "Decelerated Travel" do an upload of our secondary road system.

Albuquerque is a little more than a town. 1 million in the metro area.
