This is why i never sold my DJI MINI 2, 5 years later and its still a great drone and does everything i need for it too do
I have a Potensic Atom 3-Axis Gimbal drone, despite not having proximity warnings/safeguards, it has been great.

@@bblasphemousthe potensic atom was my first drone, bought it in Sept ‘24. I liked it but I needed better quality and excitement from my first drone - I was left wanting more. I had both a neo and a mini 4 pro ordered before i even returned the potensic. Initially, I was very strict on wanting to stay under $400, but I have zero regrets about getting my m4p. I’ve even seen video just as good from some mini 2s and mini 4k drones (may have just been great post processing though). Either way, I’m loving this new hobby!

I bought a holyston hs720e on sale for $80. I returned it after 1 week and ordered a dji mini 3. The software was trash and the batteries took 5-6 hours to charge per battery. Crazy to think the normal price was $250 but now j know why it was on sale. Maybe good for kids but not adults.
Potensic Atom 3 axis gimbal. Great drone ! Don't compare it to the DJI Mini pro 3 or 4 just enjoy it for what it is. It's a lot for the price
I am very impressed by the RYZE Tello. In a certain way, also by DJI, yet with a significant portion originating outside of DJI. This is my absolute favorite bad-weather drone!

I honestly thought the Potensic was a good choice but I changed my mind. I think that the DJI clone may be the best choice, but that's just me.
I hope Specta start to get better with more choices and fly more combos. I think Specta may be the only one.

The lack of support is why I didn't go with Specta
I was convinced that SOMEONE JUST HAD to be making comparable drone systems (aircraft, RC's, RTK, Camera hardware, gimbal, etc.) to DJI in 2019 when I got deeply interested. For the most part, there was competition but slim, narrowly focused. Autel builds good aircraft, but legit competition? Not to the level I expect, even today. I invested heavily, in Autel, and they still fall short in substantial ways. DJI is anything but perfect, witness the disastrous Mavic 3 release in November 2021. No autonomous flight or features, major bugs including auto-asxending to whatever max altitude was set) (The glass domed wide-angle sensors were glare sensitive), then GPS acquisition issues 6+ months. Hard lessons. Parrot and Skydio have left the consumer space. Sony, X-dynamics Evolve 2 was fantastic in design scope -I had one for a month or so - exotic, inpractical, beautiful. DJI is genuinely trying to fill every niche. They make more mini drone models than GM Makes SUVs in every conceivable size. Sorry for the novelette length comment!

specta mini was on sale for 220 but had a coupon 40.00 dollars which made it 180. Such a good deal and they just restocked the extra batteries.

Good video, information and breathtaking shots on those higher end drones. One day I'll get one, lol. For now, I have to be content with a couple quadcopters (there's a difference!) and a GPS drone I got for around $70 that to me was the perfect beginner to ease me into GPS stuff. It's a knockoff of something I'm not sure what to call it, lol, but it's a good basic 1080p (legit 1080p, not the 240p/360p like my $20 quadcopters). I got it because it would be my first GPS drone and had all the modes I wanted like waypoint flight so I could send it off like a true drone and wait for it to come back. More than once I thought I had lost it due to it going out of signal range, but it's got a very good stop function and return-to-home function that prevented a flyaway. Picture quality isn't great, but not bad either. Also has a remote camera control to pan it up/down. But otherwise, no axis. Something fun to learn on and if I ever do lose it someday, it's cheap and won't be a huge monetary hit. Everyone has a different budget, to me an expensive drone is really anything over $300. lol

No no no don't, dji is way better, unless you have financial issues go for the DJI.

When I was looking at Black Friday deals on Amazon, the 3 best deals appeared to be the Holy Stone 720R (for about $170), the Ruko F11 GIM2 (other versions of their F11 were on there for some pretty good prices as well, but the GIM2 was the best deal), and the Veenix V11. The FIMI Mini was a good deal too, but I got a better deal in October than their Black Friday deal.
But I don’t know much about Ruko or Veenix, and I didn’t have the money so I just kinda guessed.
My Ruko F11 flys well most of the time. One time out of 8 it will not turn on or fly. Very frustrating. My DJI and Potensic Atom are Much more reliable.
@ wnewbury4 thanks for the info. After I purchased the Veeniix, I was immediately struck by FOMO over the Rukos. I didn’t go back and buy one, but I might grab one the next time there’s a big sale.
The Veeniix is a bit of an oaf I think. I haven’t crashed it so far, so I don’t want to describe it as a “tank,” but it controls like one, compared to the FIMI mini. It’s kinda slow to get up to speed, it seems to have a pretty good top speed, but then it’s also slow to stop, or change directions. I almost crashed it right into my head when I was bringing it towards me and glanced down at the controller for a split second. The only reason I didn’t get hit was because I heard it coming and ducked out of the way. The Veeniix does have the best camera out of all my drones, but I feel like the 4k Sony camera on the FIMI mini is all I’ll really need.
Really need another strong player in the market,but at this point the is nothing which can be compared to DJI tech

Many neutral people who are not hooked to dji are very impressed with the exo blackhawk 3pro. It's as good as any out there. Definitely an equal to the air 3. I prefer it over all that u mentioned.

So with a DJI Ban it appears will happen at some point ( I am not a camera drone person hate the cell phone stuff ) BUT it s great to know there are alternatives and performs better in some cases
I personally expect in my opinion the FAA will come out with a Sub 250 registration demand and also a RID demand because so many have gone to the sub 250 and we have seen many reports of people flying them in restricted places right in the heart of DC to be exact as well

I just ordered a dji mini 3 fly more, RC, and an extra drone incase I crash. And I ordered a mini 4 pro fly more with plus batteries and RC2. I'm afraid to go another route

@HalfChrome hi, actually I ordered the mini pro 4 first with the fly more and rc 2 but with the plus batteries, but I started seeing videos about registering and the RID and decided 'm not going that route yet. So the next day I ordered the mini 3 (not pro) with fly more and standard batteries. I decided the 4 can go on a shelf in the garage in case I ever get that far along. Then the mini 3 arrived a d I charged all he batteries turned on the RC and got to a page that said connect to wifi, well I don't have wifi so now that one also is in the garage on a shelf. I'm out

@HalfChrome ok thanks. I read that the mini 4 with the plus batteries activates the rid and over the 150g limit requiring me to have to register. It was a fly more kit with plus batteries. Is that incorrect?
@johnpower8356 a plus battery is over 250. That is correct. But standard are not.

Why does Specta not offer two batteries?
Amazon had like a fly more kit a week ago with 3 batteries but I didn't buy one, shame on me as the don't now. Extra batteries aren't even available anymore. I'm just not going to get a drone if I only have one battery to fly it with and no idea when you can purchase extras.

In many countries, you will have problems with flying drones heavier than 250 g.
So air is useless for me.
I am old school I do not believe in no alternative drone under the levels of DJI. If these drone companies are not on the same level as DJI there is no interest. I don't want to be in the position where there are extremely 100% better

Here is a novel concept; You can (or should be able to) have a simple civil conversation with someone you disagree with.

I don't understand why "no geofencing" is a feature... If it's an illegal enough place to fly a drone that DJI put it on their geofencing list ... you probably shouldn't be flying there. Is it better to get caught, arrested, and charged hundreds of thousands by the FAA?
For any controlled or restricted airspace, if you have permission from the FAA or entity that controls the airspace, DJI will unlock the geofence for you.
Honestly, there's plenty of places that DJI doesn't lock which already can get you in plenty of trouble as-is.
It's not about letting you fly wherever you want, you still have to be personally vigilant. Geofenceing has a heck of a cushion when comes to areas where one shouldn't fly.
I come from autel to dji. Dji limits my altitude in areas waaay before necessary. I'd rather trust my own vigilance.
There are also plenty of places that it is legal to fly that are locked by DJI. I made a video in class G airspace that was locked because it is close to a small airfield. I understand your point but the process isn’t super easy and can be a pain.
In my country you can fly inside the airport area, as long as it's shielded or below buildings or houses. That is where geo fencing can be annoying. Our country has crazy weight limits as in under 25kgs if used consumer. The only requirement is that if the drone weighs between 15 and 25kg its needs to be certified as safe to fly by a qualified person. But 25kg is crazy weight!
