Hey everyone! Thanks for tuning in to all the Persimmon Ridge coverage! Unfortunately due to some technical difficulties we only have rounds 2 and 3 coming for FPO 😢
Fantastic to see Kona playing again. Thanks very much to her, and Kona's Krushers, and Dynamic Discs for taking on 8-year-old world champion and double world distance record holder, Sarah Wadsworth. And thanks to Holly, Rebecca, and GK pro for the stunning (1080p60!) coverage. DGN looks like the bad old days of 2010 in comparison. Edit: "Never belittle a shot up the middle", has been my mantra for the last 36 years of disc golf. I'm so glad to hear Holly use that phrase!
Rebecca and Holly- Fantastic commentary! I love your analysis and how you reveal the discs being thrown. You have lovely voices and are a pleasure to listen to.
It’s obvious that throwing basically one mold over and over again works for Ohn, but to be honest, it shouldn’t. It’s a testament to how much more forgiving FPO courses are. Appropriate, competitive course design should force players to throw different discs and different shots. No matter how prolific you get with one mold, it’s unthinkable someone could get away with that in MPO.
Yep, and how minimal the competition is. I like Ohn but it constantly reminds of every new player throwing forehands with discs that are way too fast on massive anhy's to try to get some distance because they have no concept of a backhand.
thats not a fair assessment of ohns game. she throws backhand and forehand and is good with straight putters as well as different lines with the destroyers. the real reason why shes so competitive tho is because shes the best putter on tour and only needs to get to circle 2 to have a good round. its true she has limits tho, but its not the courses that are weak, its the competition. other than kristen, who else is there?
Might want to take a page out of Jomez' book and post rounds up as they happen, and not days later . And where's round 1??? Someone(s) slacking. Either way, still appreciate the coverage. I'm absolutely not putting down the fact we all get to watch this stuff for free. I purposely avoid social media, DG related websites, and player pages, to avoid seeing results. This way when I watch coverage, it feels as if it's happening in the moment and I can feel a little anticipation and anxiety as rounds progress.
Kinda sounds like you’re putting down watching it for free. Jomez has always had a much bigger team and the backing of pdga and pdgt. They are not equal. They got MPO out on time, and I imagine that it was a lot for a small amount of people. You’re literally not going to get the footage from anywhere else, but you’re still here saying “do better.” But if you want to imagine GK Pro has the same amount of employees as Jomez, by all means keep putting down free coverage. Honestly, it’s the “someone’s slacking” thing that really rubbed me wrong.
My apologies. Didn't mean for it to come across as you perceived it. Perhaps my choice of wording wasn't at it's best, and I'll do better to remedy that shortcoming moving forward. I do however absolutely appreciate DG coverage of any kind, as clearly mentioned before. Just feel that the FPO ladies deserve the same attention as the guys, so seeing FPO coverage days after the fact seemed like maybe they weren't getting the same love as their male counterparts. They bust their butts out there, play just as hard, and you have to respect that. Still kinda bummed about not seeing round 1 tho.
@@gardenstateflatlandb the girls only deserve as much attention as the guys if they have as many fans watching. they dont. theyre lucky they have the same payouts in the big tournaments because its must be subsidized
If Rebecca reads this, it’s not really all that interesting hearing what disc Kona is throwing. I don’t know what a maverick is. But if you instead would say what slot in the bag it was, that would be good. “This is her overstable fairway”, or “this is her straight to turnover mid”.
Knowing what disc is being thrown is something that I have seen being asked for on a large number of channels, including GK Pro, Jomez, DGPT, Westside Productions, and others I can't think of immediately. It would supplement the disc name to say what it does. However, the way pros manipulate disc makes it fly different than the numbers suggest. You're allowed to feel that way, though. 🤷🏼 I'm not a fan or hater of Rebecca, but I generally am interested in the discs being thrown.
@@toxicalpacalypse5453 Why? You can't buy the rare stuff they're throwing, you have no clue the wear level, and you're not throwing like them. Do any other sports talk about the brands of equipment being used during commentary? Do they rattle off the shoes each player is wearing during NBA games? No. It's advertising for manufacturer's, why would that be included in competition? You know the manufacturer's they play for, it isn't that difficult to figure out what they throw, many do in the bags.
I agree with @@toxicalpacalypse5453 that I also like to know what discs these players are throwing. Not necessarily on every hole, but off the tee is nice, and some upshots. People can rationalize why they don't want to know that information, or care, but they don't speak for everyone.
@stitch438 your argument is asinine. They do tell you what shoes nba players are wearing, they do tell you the clubs pro golfers use, they do tell you the cleats nfl players wear. You might not be able to throw the shots you see. It's not "advertising manufacturers". The jersey and sponsorship do that already. However, knowing what they throw, let me know what disc I can manipulate. If you can't throw your shots, don't project that on everyone else. The maverick turnover is something my handicap uncle is able to throw consistently. You wouldn't read the numbers and get that disc for that. Everyone doesn't know every pros sponsors. Every pro doesn't throw only their sponsor. Some pros have open bags that nobody knows what's in there. As for rare discs, it's rare that newer touring pros have them. Although it is not impossible, I have a 2008 1 time champion, Avery Jenkins Teebird, that is rare and out of production, 30 bucks. The people want to know the names.
No disrespect intended, but some of the comments by Holly about not being interested in running 50' putts, or laying up putts due to a drop off, etc. do a good job of explaining why Tattar and Scoggins win, and Finley doesn't. Mindset can make all the difference
@@stitch438 exactly, she was talking about most people not wanting to run a 50' foot putt on the 1st hole. That's a losing mentality, and once again explains why some players excel and some don't. Sorry, I'm just not about playing everything safe when you're a heavy amount of strokes off the lead
Two holes in and we see why Kona struggles. Holes 1 tee: hits 1st and only available, Hole 2 tee: bad disc selection- you have to throw a more overstable disc there, like Ohn. Then the upshot was terrible, just land it in the sand. Its not that hard. Shes got the tools but decision making is bad

Kona signed the same contract as Tattar at 500k each for 4 years. they dropped 1 mil on these two splitting, absolutely horrible. Tattar goes to basically solidify herself as the Goat, Kona had an unfortunate situation but also horrendous disc golf falling in the 920s. Kristin's manager is prob kicking themselves, should have been Kona 200k 4 years with huge bonuses, like 150% bonus payout on top 10s cashes, make her earn her money, she didn't earn a Kristin level contract. Kristin however settled for the same as Kona and goes on to set history, should have been Kristin 4 years 800k, kona 4 years 200k. kristin has been on likely 150x more lead card coverages compared to Kona over the past 2 years, yet have the same contract, it's illogical and isn't right. Kona was severly overpaid being signed the same as Kristin, and the past 2 years is backed up by every single data point that exists of how dumb it is
Well Kristin did not get diagnosed with cancer either. Kona was not performing but now that she's cancer free and on the road to recovery at least give her a chance to redeem herself. I don't understand all this hate she is getting. I agree that the contract was too much but this repeated hate against someone who has struggled with cancer and trying to perform as an athlete at the same time I don't understand.
You're literally describing hindsight. Nobody could have known that Kristin would basically take over the FPO division lol. Can't base life off of coulda, shoulda, woulda.
