- Join us on a serene autumn afternoon walk as we explore the Krafsidonas stream, located on the border between Volos and Nea Ionia. This area was severely impacted by the devastating floods of last September, which caused widespread damage throughout the neighbourhood. Now, one year later, we revisit the stream and witness the impressive restoration efforts. Both sides of the waterway have been transformed, with new railings, clean pavements, and freshly planted trees and shrubs, bringing new life and beauty to the area.
Our walk begins by heading north along Zachou Street, where we pass local homes and apartment blocks, taking in the peaceful scenery of tree-lined streets beside the stream. As we continue, we turn south and follow Karabatzaki Street on the Nea Ionia side, where the improvements are especially evident. We conclude our walk at National Resistance Square, reflecting on how much the area has recovered and the efforts to rebuild a sense of community.
