I spent a couple of years working for a mining logistics company based out of Smithers. I’d drive to Stewart twice a week to drop and pick up mine workers and gear. The first time I drove by bear glacier, one of my passengers asked to stop. She was from the area but this was her first time back in nearly 20 years. She was crying, not because she was so happy to be back on her ancestral land but because of how far the glacier has retreated. Thanks for highlighting that. It’s an incredible part of the planet!
You currently are on a drone pilots dream trip. The footage is unbelievable and awe inspiring. I’m so hooked on your adventure and I keep thinking about the next video to come. Thanks again Eric. This is fun
Hello Eric, thank you for sharing your journey with us. Finally a RUclips channel where I am always happy about new videos. I myself traveled from Vancouver to Alaska and back to BC on my motorcycle for three months in 2019. Your trip lets me relive mine. Very cool! Feel free to get in touch if you are traveling through Germany. I can offer you help with service work on your bike and a roof over your head. I've met such great people and made friends in Canada that I want to be as hospitable to you as you Canadians have been to me. I wish you all the best for your trip! Greetings from Germany Jens
Great videos!!! I have had over 50 motorcycles so far in my lifetime and have ridden for 52 years and never would have ridden in that tunnel without walking it first! Breath taking camera work and great storyline and a great attitude and at times a big set of balls ! Keep it up Eric! Stay safe.
Hi from Belgium, Eric from the future, great narration ! Your videos are becoming more and more interesting. Nice work to show us how the glacier is slowly disapearing. Splendid images. I can see that your followers number is growing at each videos. You desserve it ! I'm now waiting for the next video :)
I really enjoyed cutting back and forth between future Eric and old Eric. I know it was accidental, but works well as a story-telling technique. And though the battery failing in your GoPro in the tunnel was also unintended, it was at just the right time to add tension to the ice buildup suddenly forcing you to try to turn around as we just listened to your desperate cries in the dark!
When you started I thought you were an idiot! But the more I watch the more I am in awe of your determination and spirit!! You are a real inspiration!!!!
Next time you have to turn the bike around, you should put the kickstand down and try to use that as a pivot. I see people turning they're motorcycles around like that all the time.
I was wondering if the kickstand would sink down into the ice making it impossible. I used to have trouble spinning my bike around in my parking lot because it would get so hot and the asphalt would cause the stand to sink 😂
You’re doing great Eric, love your story. Maybe try to remember you are all alone in the wilderness, keep in the back of your mind, “There is no one with me, and no one knows where I am if something happens.” I really want to see you finish this journey. Happy Trails buddy
Stupid off-roader tip #99: Use the bottom plate holes to tie it to the rear fender. Plates are made out of crap and they flap up/down while off-road and eventually they will break (or break the bolts holding it). So an extra point (or 2) really helps with the load on them. If allowed: drill a center hole and just tie it down there. Once I lost my plate and both directional lights on the first ride :) .... tiny blinkers hep with the latter, but every country has a minimum the 2 directionals have to be from each-other. :)
Yeah that tunnel situation could have been a lot worse, glad it worked out but be careful about that sort of thing. Really loving following on the journey.
Awe, been to the Salmon glacier about 20 times now. Never gets old. I've hiked in that tunnel... yeah, would have never ridden it. Surprised you didn't get stuck. It's like shin deep in there. I'm not sure you and the bike are make your trip if you keep this up 😅. I've got videos of the year-to-year loss of the glaciers up there from the past 30 years. The Cassiar used to be a dirt road. Now its paved, striped and they are running power and fiberoptic up there. I miss the old days. Now you've shamed me to post from my trip there last year 😉 Thanks for sharing ~GrizzLee
Hey Eric, I'm a rider since 1974 and have ridden all manner & styles of bikes. I currently ride a Harley Davidson. Because of this history I was pleased to stumble across you and your youtube trip just joining it here. I'll have to back-track to se what I have missed prior to this video but there's much more ahead (of this video) then behind. Coincidentally the other adventurous interest I follow is The Action Adventure Twins who explore caves and you are very lucky that your little cave diversion ended as well as it did. The things that could have happened very disastrously for you but didn't are too long to list. Not sure what you expected to gain for those risks but chalk it up as a learning experience and reference it when next you confront a go/no-go decision point. But don't let it turn you into Mr Scared to go anywhere off pavement guy. Onboard for the duration and subscribed from San Diego.
oh man, you dont know how much I like every single video on this channel. You pushing every new video to the next level, I really love it. I literally saw 5 minutes of this video, and need to tell ya that. Im really happy to see you channel grow, and Im cheering you every minut to not have a flat tire again :D . Im so happy, you took us for adventure with you. God bless your journey. And Im going to finish this video. :) Take care.
Salmon Glacier footage was incredible! And the fun adventure in the tunnel got you some exercise! You are catching the moto bug, huh? It's a serious addiction for some of us. I hope your spectacular drone luck continues! 🤞
What a great adventure and you're still in North America! This first part of the journey is a shakedown for the rest and you appear to be learing a lot, some of it the hard way! Love the honesty and the beautiful drone footage!
Oh merciful...I'm watching this on Christmas eve and it's amazingly beautiful. The drone footage reminds me of God. Im glad you made it out of that tunnel safely. The music is amazing.
Eric, you are so lucky! Hope the luck follows you the whole rest of the trip. The adventure and views you are sharing are tremendous! Keep it up. This is awesome!
I’m really glad I found you. I’m gonna go back over the old episodes but this episode has really touched me. Such beautiful scenery but also excellent photography and narrative….. really are quite a guy I’m gonna follow you. I just wanna see where you end up.
I’m sure glad you’re making videos again, I do miss you making mountain bike videos also but that’s in the past now. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the ride so far.
I've watched most of your videos from bcpov an always loved watching you improve your riding from Mtb to now motorcycle good luck on your journey looking forward to it .
You are crazy my dude! And I dig that about you ! Lol just don’t be too crazy so we can keep enjoying your videos. You are getting us great views and keeping us mightily entertained!
Stoked to see another notification from your adventure👌so funny, hell yeah a tunnel what could possibly go wrong haha good on ya for having a crack, you never ever know if you never have a go😅 that spring tree is so cool, we've been getting our spring water from the mountains for 14 years also just like the older fella.
I’ve followed you over from your other channel (I’m from BC and hope you don’t stop making mtb videos. I’d like to ride stone starlet one day (I’m from Kamloops but make multiple trips south to ride trails around the lower main land every year). This is an awesome adventure and I love that you are showcasing how amazing the province of BC is. It is awesome seeing all the mountains and glaciers, thanks for taking us along
At no time during my lifetime of riding all types of motorcycles - or anything else for that matter - have I come across an abandoned tunnel and thought, "hey, that looks like a shortcut - let's give it a try!" Really enjoy the drone work and videography.
Good recovery from the GoPro fail. Having worked in the confined spaces industry for 30 years, no way id be going down that tunnel without precautions. You need to look after those tanks. Seen you dropping and dragging the bike several times now. The lower edges of those tanks are very vulnerable, and being rare items, would massively impact your trip if damaged. Ride safe Pal 👍
That tunnel was cray man!!! I was worried for you. - On a side note, I was thinking it'd be cool if you hit some mtb parks along the way and just rented gear. It might be a nice little bit of nostalgia mixed in as well as drive some traffic over to bcpov... Plus those vids show a lot about you and could help the new audience familiarize themselves with you. Also I feel like we're seeing a ;ittle more goffiness from you and i think its great. keep up the great storytelling and showing us places that 99.9% of us will literally never see. It's a service to the soul as well as entertainment for the mind, I APPRECIATE YOU, GOOD SIR.
Great adventure, if not a bit scary in that tunnel! Love the amazing scenery in BC / Pacific Northwest area. Love your narration, drone footage and historic photos! Eric, things can turn bad quickly, be careful out there!
That tunnel looks scary specially when you ride alone. Keep up the awesome work eric. I really really enjoyed your drone footages. They are just fantastic
Another awesome episode Eric. My brother and I were chatting about this episode this morning and both agreed we would have taken the tunnel, after all, isn't that what adventure is all about - exploring new places, new challenges and new risks?? Glad to be along for the ride - don't stop exploring!
What a journey and it has become already a part of life now. To hear our Guy on a bike setting on a new adventure!!!! Watching you I just want to sit on the bike and get away and never come back. Just ride and ride and ride and ride. And enjoy the wilderness.
Dude that's some great riding in the last couple of videos, glad you got your drone back. I can't believe you went into that tunnel haha but love your drive for adventure. Really looking forward to the next video!
WOW! I'm in awe of the magnificent scenery-spectacular!!! The tunnel looks scary as s***. I think you need some auxiliary lighting--handlebar mount or helmet mount--even if it is MTB lighting kind'a stuff.
There is not a snowball chance in hell I would have gone in that tunnel! 😂 I’m afraid of the dark, would be scared some crazed person would be in there or find raccoons in there. Yes, I am afraid of raccoons! 😩 That is really cool to see the glaciers and later this week I am going to look them up and read about them . Again, thank you so much for making these videos! We absolutely love them and look forward to the next! Safe travels my friend.
I'm glad you made it out safe and found the missing plate. Motorcycle plates are pretty vulnerable with their wimpy metal and only two hanger bolts suspending it over the rear wheel, at least on dual-sport bikes. I have taken to using a rectangle of sheet metal with four holes which I mount the license plate to. That way the plate is attached at four points and has a much stronger metal both for the two-bolt mounting point, and to help keep the plate from getting ripped up.
Keep doing what you are doing Eric! Another bcpov fan but also have a motorbike specifically bought for exploring Australia, the only creator now that as soon as video drops I'm watching it
Great videos!..My wife and I both ride/motoadventure and we are both enjoying your adventure and pulling for you!!!..ps..Nice Berm Peak hoodie in the first episode!!!..Ride safe and have fun!!!
Nice how you made lemonade from lemons and tried a new format. Shocking how much the glacier has receded. Saw you took the ND off the gopro in the tunnel, been there, always feels so sketchy riding knowing there is no protection. Also been there too many times with the licence plate, I think I've gone though four now... but never had to cross the boarder without it although I did make it through back into Canada without a passport the last time! Good stuff!
Eric if you are in Turkey, be careful in villages there are kangals that are big and dangerous. If they grab you then pray to God. Breathtaking shots. Thank you. I love nature. And Canada is beautiful. I hope to go there sometime in my life.
Given that you acknowledge that you "are not a smart man", is part of what makes watching you progress so much fun. You gather wisdom / smarts through experience, which you're getting plenty of as you go further. P.S. Dogs can be sketchy, but also be careful of deer. When one crosses the road in front of you, there are often others following.
yo! even if you lost the footage you made it work for you and the video turned out great nonetheless! I really enjoyed it. the glaciers, man, they’re amazing!
Oh Eric, I was just shaking my head throughtout your jaunt down the tunnel.. "Ooooo a tunnel!!" *Neeeoowwwwww!!* 😂😂 Brave man! Im terrified of tunnels hahah
bungees to keep plate; can move up or on sides, not breaking... two holes up , one down . bungees through, make knots and on other side, fix them behind on frame
Great job best video yet just a tip and time saver, if you lose your plate you need to go the RCMP first and file a report before you can get a new one.
AWESOME! Hyder is one of the most amazing places I've visited. Highly recommended. No freaking way I'd go into that tunnel though (I'm mega-claustrophobic). I hope your decision making skills improve because this channel is great, and I think this could be even better than BCpov.
Kudos to you for being able to see this great land of ours most people like myself will never be able to get to see such wonders in person, thank you for your video❤
I have a picture just like the others of bear glacier when it went through there in fall 2022 (you had way better weather!) and when I looked back I was amazed to see how it’s shrunk in just 2 years. Wild.
@@curiousnomadic We are still in an ice age, and, CO2 is extremely low by the historical record. Don't pay too much attention to the alarmists, the Arctic was guaranteed to be "ice free" years ago. Historically many glaciers were not as prominent as they are now. However, I'm sure if we hand over enough money to the UN they will be able to being the nice weather crisis under control.
His risks aren't that terrible that he's taken so far... No biggie honestly. Reahe just needs to learn some tricks like the kickstand pivot... Would have likely came in handy in the tunnel... Keep adventuring dude!!!!
i was shocked you even attempted to go past the first couple meter into that cave the glaciers were breathtaking, im just now realising how little we got to experience of natures beauty without birds eye view
We were lucky enough to visit salmon glacier, truly stunning. We were at the right time of year to be able to see bears catching salmon in the river closer to hydro too❤
Great drone footage, dude. As you’re no doubt learning, there’s a fine line between following the spirit of adventure & winding up over your head with less than wise decisions. Clearly you’re not averse to balancing on that razor so far. Just hope your ass doesn’t eventually get bit. Given the magnitude of the plan, there’s more than enough opportunity for that on the roads ahead. Safe travels man !
Eric, cudos to you, sir for doing this adventure. Truly an inspiration, especially as a new rider. I’ve been riding a very long time and still I only dream of adventures like this. Well done. You go man! Do you carry a SPOT or inReach or any type of beacon? Please get one if you don’t! Take care. I just subscribed this morning!
something fun I did with my maps was write on them. next to to places I'd put a date and note like "10/24 needles hwy" its cool to look back because even tough I recorded for my channel its still nice to physically see on the map.
The fact that the light at the end isn't getting any bigger would give ANYONE anxiety! Were those cables or something on the side of the wall too? damn the whole thing could of been a bad ending, glad you made it safe!
Ha! We used to camp at the entrance of that tunnel when it would be pouring rain on our yearly snowboard trip (in August) at the Salmon Glacier. Provides good shelter when the weather rolls in.
@@Una_Moto no, we would ride the chutes off to the side of the glacier. There used to be a lot more access 15-20yrs ago before the gates and mining fired back up.
Thank you Eric for showing us salmon glacier sadly due to us the world is warming up at a phenomenal rate and glaciers all around the world may not be around in our lifetime
Thanks for sharing that story 🙏
it is the dead ass of the planet
You've just solidified that the Salmon Glacier is a bucket list item for me. Those drone shots were spectacular, and I'm glad you found your plate! 😆
And the amazing thing is that it isn't a park or anything. Maybe because the access is funky? Or the mining going on?
You currently are on a drone pilots dream trip. The footage is unbelievable and awe inspiring. I’m so hooked on your adventure and I keep thinking about the next video to come. Thanks again Eric. This is fun

I spent 2 summers working on the Salmon glacier road, 80-81. it was 20 km long back then, the bear glacier was to the roads.
Great drone footage of the glaciers. Adding the archived photos shows the shocking loss of Bear Glacier over the years.
Yup, just 9-10 years ago bear glacier was almost at the pond edge …
Yeah...Global warming is a b*tch... For those who thinks that GW is a hoax, there is your piece of evidence. Bear Glacier.

@@AlexGifford5150 stick a big flat rock under the kickstand, then it won't sink
Future Eric did a great job with the commentary!
Yes, aware if the kick stand trick, the ground was far too soft and the space too small.
I always carried a small block of wood with my bike to let me spin it on the kicksand when it it on soft ground...
You’re doing great Eric, love your story. Maybe try to remember you are all alone in the wilderness, keep in the back of your mind, “There is no one with me, and no one knows where I am if something happens.” I really want to see you finish this journey. Happy Trails buddy
People definitely know where I am, not to worry :)
Stupid off-roader tip #99:
Use the bottom plate holes to tie it to the rear fender.

I was so surprised that you didn’t take a moment to think about entering the tunnel, made me hold my breath. Hahaha
Man you are good! You create the best motorcycle video's I have ever seen.
Oh Eric, I was just shaking my head throughtout your jaunt down the tunnel.. "Ooooo a tunnel!!" *Neeeoowwwwww!!* 😂😂 Brave man! Im terrified of tunnels hahah
Beautiful country. I am loving having three videos a week. This is such great content, Eric.
bungees to keep plate; can move up or on sides, not breaking... two holes up , one down . bungees through, make knots and on other side, fix them behind on frame
Great job best video yet
just a tip and time saver, if you lose your plate you need to go the RCMP first and file a report before you can get a new one.
AWESOME! Hyder is one of the most amazing places I've visited. Highly recommended. No freaking way I'd go into that tunnel though (I'm mega-claustrophobic). I hope your decision making skills improve because this channel is great, and I think this could be even better than BCpov.
Please make a quick vid on the gear you're riding in and packing along. Great series!
Holy shit Eric! Absolutely stunning footage this episode! Now I need to goto BC and Alaska before I die.
The lava bed and story is incredible. Thank you.
Great job with the video despite the mic challenges. Can't wait to see where you go next!
Wild.
Did anybody understand the significance of "Old Bear River Trail"?
I did not 🤷♀
no sorry mate, noticed you highlighted it.
The glacier was all the way up to the old bear river trail
@@atalantosmtbrider You've got it :)
Keep adventuring dude!!!!
i was shocked you even attempted to go past the first couple meter into that cave
the glaciers were breathtaking, im just now realising how little we got to experience of natures beauty without birds eye view
This is an amazing adventure. We look forward to viewing all the beautiful aerial scenery in each part of the journey.
We were lucky enough to visit salmon glacier, truly stunning. We were at the right time of year to be able to see bears catching salmon in the river closer to hydro too❤
Thanks for bringing us along on the adventure, Eric!
Eric I love your channei because u make some mistakes but handle them pretty well .U are a begginner for sure lol.Safe travels.
I love your sense of adventure, it’s always best to leap before you look😊
something fun I did with my maps was write on them. next to to places I'd put a date and note like "10/24 needles hwy" its cool to look back because even tough I recorded for my channel its still nice to physically see on the map.
Are you snowboarding the glacier?
@@Una_Moto no, we would ride the chutes off to the side of the glacier. There used to be a lot more access 15-20yrs ago before the gates and mining fired back up.
Good luck with your journey dude, I'll follow you at your adventure...
Great video, really enjoying this series!
Muhtemelen daha zahmetlidir ama böylesi, izlemesi daha keyifli bir bölüm olmuş. Emeğine sağlık.
Thank you Eric for showing us salmon glacier sadly due to us the world is warming up at a phenomenal rate and glaciers all around the world may not be around in our lifetime
