I think it was called Chiswick Cream, the same as the red RT waist band. Over time this faded to more of a off white colour. To my recollection the ceiling and advert panels were all the same colour. Definitely never any shade of white. Remember upstairs suffered from smokers so was more of a nicotine brown ! Jim Mac.
Jim, Agreed re the ceiling and advert panels. However the blueprint shows the beading as a different cream. But I don’t this it is Chiswick Cream which was used on the interdeck band. Otherwise it would have been listed in the index as Chiswick cream not Ivory. The RTL ceiling & the beading I have shows it to be an ivory white. But like yourself, I don’t think that’s right. Cream cannot fade to white no matter how much sunlight you expose it to! The only possibility is both buses were 'refurbished' after use and locally available products used. Looking under the RTL advert, it seems to show it as a cream. My RT has cream then a white applied over the top - possibly broken white referred to in the blueprint. Cream IS much nicer. Thanks for watching the video - and hope your well.
As they say "recollections may vary" can never remember them being off white more a cream (chiswick cream may be to cream) . The only reference l can find to ivory is for early RT's . The other thing is a referance to "RF interior cream" would a standardised LT have two different interior colours ? Would London Country have used whatever was to hand if they done an interior refurb. So basically l'm no help at all !! Jim
Loving the updates Dean, captures the highs and lows of preservation! Might be worth having a look at the British Transport Film “Overhaul” as this has lots of shots of RT’s on strip down and also painting of the top dock (with rollers) At least one capping of a grab pole can be seen unpainted. It was shot in 1957 so would probably be first O/H for those buses.

Pretty much sure that I will go with cream - despite all the samples being white! Think cream is more in keeping with the RT.
@ I think you are right, cream would match the vehicle as running in its normal
service life.
Cream .
Agreed! But the blueprint states otherwise as does the bits removed from my bus and an RTL. But the cream is much nicer.
