I didn't even want those stupid things until they became banned by my school. There's something about being a junior high kid suddenly wanting something after you're told it isn't allowed...
“Society and culture are based on limits-this kind of behavior is acceptable, that is not. The limits are fluid and change with time, but there are always limits. The alternative is anarchy, the lawlessness of nature, which we dread. But we are strange animals: the moment any kind of limit is imposed, physically or psychologically, we are instantly curious. A part of us wants to go beyond that limit, to explore what is forbidden.”-The Art of Seduction by Robert Greene
I remember those times, much more innocent than today. People didn't talk as fast. this video makes me want to be a kid again. I don't find adulthood to be that great honestly.
I absolutely loved these! I had every single one and a collectors book to put them in. My grandmother thought they were so awful. She signed a petition to ban them.😂
Jesus Christ Himself had a complete collection of series #3 cards and never stopped hounding me trying to get me to trade him some of my series #1 and #2 cards for his doubles.
You know what all those moms were singing as they wrote the petition to remove the Garbage "Patch" Kids? They were singing, "We can do anything by working with each other!"
I was certain the cards were meant for an older audience? Want to know what's really inappropriate for kids? How about, the content in so called kids shows today? *crickets* Where's the complaints for those?!
Karens were a rarer breed back then, it seemed, but not uncommon. Making a public scene was frowned upon. Now it's worse and turned into a sport or even staged and then posted on social media for clicks, likes and profit. Calgon take me away ... sigh ...
Bro I actually, like garbage pail kids like the best things about them or well not the movie, but but there’s chapter books and they’re pretty good and the cards are goofy but they’re not stupid directly. Interesting. They’re funny and stuff like that but I understand why they shouldn’t be at schools because they might have something that could be disrespectful at school.
I loved it when I had a small collection of it. It made me laugh so hard. And trust me, my parents were strict especially my dad. While I enjoyed the card collections, my parents raised us in Love and Discipline. I love my parents so much to the day they passed 🥲🥲🥲🥲

And now parents can't wait to give their kids the most lethal device ever for kids, a cellphone
This was a story done by my local news (Dallas area), as a 8 year old I had a whole collection. Traded around until you got the whole set.
Trying to get stuff banned never works, it just fuels the demand. Btw, I was an 80s child who collected those all the time!
❤ i still have my collection! I love every card!
My mom died in 1986 when I was 8 years old, one thing I remember is I had garbage pail kids. I know my mom was cool lol
Not American but kinda like this video. These poor women do not know what TikTok will bring upon the youth
Karens ruining our fun since 1986. WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!
I collected these and loved them ❤️ had the movie too who knew that Karen’s excited back then 🤣🤣
Kids: *wanting anything that offends adults*
Adults: *offended by Garbage Pail Kids*
My parents found them to be like a joke book… still have them on my bookshelf

Wait till all maw maw and paw paw now see their grandchild doing stupid tiktok.
I loved them back then and still love them now. I even have original production art from some of the cards.

Communistic????!!!!! Never heard that one. Plenty of
My parents didn't give a fuck that I owned these collections. My mother thought the stickers were funny!
"It looks Communistic".
Wow, not even a subtle entry into the absurd.
Yup, she is an idiot
Barbie seems fine as long as certain stores (including Walmart and Toys R Us) sell them

If that had been just part of the Wacky Packages, it wouldn’t have gotten that much attention.
i love garbage pail kids
GARBAGE PAIL KIDS ARE COOL
Curse you dunkenville !!!!!
Don't like something? Just ban it, right? Some people just need to chill out!
Its always the mothers doing this shit, clutching their pearls, and forgetting how a child's brain works.
Now you have kids and adults dancing about for tiktok.
My first fight was in kindergarten over one of these cards.

0:30 she doesn't know how prophetic she was 😆😆!!
Anyone remember the supersized cards we had a few but I think they all got thrown away
"prude"
It looks communistic? Oh please, don’t be so dramatic.

What the hell are garbage patch kids?
@@Sambeck63 🫨🤣🤣 garbage patch sounds like a metal band
“ think of the children!” From the Simpson. It’s because of them, just like all the Satan worshipers trading Pokémon cards..
Thanks for making me some money.

Funny how soft parents were back then 🤔
