Great intro to Morris the 'Blue Tack Special'! It's just how Minis used to 'evolve' before the 'replace everything with new' era began! Great looking car, I reckon the electrics will be a treat on that! 🤣 When I got my Aus. MKII S, I bought it from a plumber, his thing was bathroom silicon! Everywhere!! Cheers Rich love the new car! 👍😎

Most of the wiring isnt bad, a chunk of the front loom had been put in wrong which i had to correct so the dash binnacle and stuff would fit properly. Theres tidying up under the bonnet to do yet though. I did find broken remnants of the correct black binnacle in the back of the dash, so it was right at some point in the past.

Looks like a lovely car that mate well done! I'd love a 1071 in rally spec. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it. At least it's gone to someone who'll actually use it too!

Cheers mate, yep, actually using it will do it the world of good, it passed the mot the other week with rhe only advisory being one wheel bearing at the back, which only started rumbling on the way there. It was also my first drive in it, in the dark, in torrential rain...

Looks lovely with proper period rally bits. Was it ever rallied?

I'd like to know the answer!! it would explain battered floors that have been replaced with questionable pressed panels, and then many patches, it had a second tank at some point, and its had a double throttle cable setup at one time. All the switches in the doors are just for show, nothing was ever connected, all the switches by the driver work as I wired a chunk of them. He had the relays under the bonnet for years but the wiring to the front lamps was never done till maybe 3/4 years ago.

There was also a non working stopwatch and lovely rare time clock removed pre purchase. It wasn't wire in, just blue tacked to the dash.

Might be worth asking in the various fb groups of old road rally pics etc, you never know someone might recognise the car!

@@63MIJ63 I've done a lot of googling but there's nothing coming up, even researching previous owners. The kicker might be what if its had a plate change??

Yep, got the heritage cert already, I already had some confirmation from the 1071 register before that of important numbers and which dealer it was sent to and when
