This happens a lot in the Midwest. From working in California and Atlanta most employers know about this. In for example Detroit its the wild west of wages. I have lived here for 2 years and won 3 wage and hour complaints and 1 lawsuit pertaining to misclassification. The employer takes advantage of sales professionals especially out here. DO NOT WORK AN OUTSIDE SALES INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR ROLE! No matter how good the pay is you have no rights.
