Tearing apart the TOUAREG - V10 diesel engine removed - Project Twin Turbo V10 Nissan Patrol - episode 4
Subscribe and read on for a secret prize!
Today is the day we say goodbye to a fully functioning VW Touareg...
There's always an element of guilt when you tear apart something that worked flawlessly, but sometimes it's all for the greater good... the greater good...
So, goodbye touareg, and hello weird cross breed odd short midget car that might be very fast, or might be a massive failure. Only time will tell. There is no secret prize, but subscribe anyway.

I will never understand why this channel isn’t gowijg faster. Grade A content.
I need more artificial drama and screaming "WOOO".
It is growing quite quickly which is great and well deserved 👍👍
Btw, the thing in the wheel well with the hoses is the Webasto auxiliary diesel heater. You should give those a read.
Ooooooohhhh suspence! Cheers Steve
Matt: ‘Or it’ll be the tightest fitting engine in a patrol body’
Duramax engines: ‘am I a joke to you?’
😂😂
I promise, compared to the V10. The duramax is a joke. Width wise anyway
Can’t wait for it when finish.
Hey, me too!
I’m 5min into this video and have laughed so hard at so many things. I love this guy.
Great content using my favorite vw of all time.
Baited breath! Why am I so engaged with this? I just can’t wait for the next episode.
Educational and informative as always. But I don’t come here for that. I crave MAB mans dry as a witches tit humor and the subtle sarcasm we’ve all come to know and love. Carry on!
The truth is, you're here for the 30 seconds of sped up workshop cleaning
A clean workshop is the product of a sick mind, so yeah..
I'm so happy this channel exists.
Come here for the V10 stayed for the car montage !!!!
Sounds to me like you stayed for the personalised fanboy workshop paparazzi videos
Reading the comments, the fit is ok. Good to hear.
I got a little peeved with the "notify me" pre-run ads. I don't get it, we know we will get a video when we get a video, so can we tone them down a little? That approach is for uncool and deceitful marketing type channels, not for the dry, entertain and instructional MAB Innovaton 4x4 channel.
I hate them too. Sadly, massaging the ego of the algorithm is the only way any growth seems to happen with the channel. It seems to love "premieres" and "shorts". Both of which I think are stupid.
@@ridiculousthings4x4 Oh good, you get my point. I didn't know about the youtube algorithm BS though. Now that I know, go ahead, do what you gotta do.
I will follow your channel regardless because I like your dryness and the content - a lot.
This episode was nerve-wracking 👍
Dr Frankenstein would have nothing on you 😃
Somehow I don't think Dr. F would have dropped a V10 engine on the floor
Your great
Thank Sir MAB. Hope you're keeping the shiny side up on your motorbike trip. If you haven't, at least I know you're still alive based on the fact you're responding to comments. Cheers
Looks like a very expensive moment of truth 🤣🤣
It might have been a different story if I hadn't left that crossmember attached. Thankfully absolutely nothing broke
hopefully she gets running this episode bra 🤙🏿
Oh it definitely runs in this episode, but not in the way you're thinking
If you can get your hands on an iPhone12 Pro Max, you can use an app like Scandy to quickly produce a 3d model of the engine and the bay. You can then export them to STL and see what parts foul and where.
Also, something tells me you won't be returning that engine crane after all.. lol.
Thanks for the suggestion. Apps like that are actually quite inaccurate. They're fine for scanning a room for example but they'll interpolate results to compensate for the hardware, and add colour to make it look pretty. They're not good for taking mm perfect measurements. Bit of insider information, the engine is already installed, the videos are a bit out of date ;)
@MAB Innovation 4x4 haha, I figured you would have it in by now! You're a machine mate.
The iPhone 12 pro max has a good lidar sensor on the front, the rear isn't great. It's a bit of a pain to scan because you need a remote screen, but I can get results down to about 2-3mm on bigger things. I'm currently trying to scan the whole GQ.
Now stick the Patrol engine in the Touareg
I have a 2005 V8 Touareg and I want to pull the 4.2 L V8 and drop an LS in it
OK. This is making my Series I Land Rover restoration look pathetic. That new engine has a LOT of plumbing.
Need to see your build series on that
Looks scary
Looks like he has converted it to a toilet. That's definitely a pushing, straining, concentrating face.
Hey mate, how does the patrol go now with the new engine?
No idea. It's about as far from finished as you can get
haha lounge chair ! can't wait to see this in 2 days ! 🛻📹😎🤙
here's to hoping someone gets the real thumbnail reference
Do you have an instagram I can follow you on? Would also love to see the car in person, I'm only in newcastle, happy to make the trip to have a look!
Yeah, you can find it in the description. It'll be at the 2024 Sydney 4wd show for people to see (and buy my stuff)
