this is where you see who got real love for the game, no giant facilities with every resource around the corner at their disposal these dudes just find a way to get better by any means
Going to HS in Smith HS from 96-2000 in the BX we were lucky to have a field in our back yard. It's hard to make it out of NYC in Baseball crazy props to these guys. Puts a smile on my face to see Baseball still alive in NYC.
Idk bro….I say it’s easy if your good….I played for Kennedy ….I use to have games at smith…..I once roofed it at smith hs as a lefty in a game….make a long story short…..I didn’t attend my baseball scholarship but my boy did…..he went 2nd overall in the 2008 draft from nyc….just have to be dedicated and nice…..unfortunately I had my son senior yr so I didn’t atttent Vanderbilt…..but boy what’s they giving out scholarships in nyc to attend there
@@whoishec7615 Yea man you def need dedication for sure but scouts are not really looking in NYC as much as Cali, Florida and other warmer state where baseball is played 24/7. Its possible just tougher for NYC kids but I know they can do it. Also bro Smith right field is like 100 feet lol. Anyone can roof it. I did it as a righty and back in my day we won 3 city championships.
Damn that unfortunate I checked out vanderbilt back in September of 2023. Very nice program very nice university the stadium was nice and facilities were nice. Wish everything could had worked out for you so you could have gotten that experience but you received a great blessing. Salute
Much Love to Youth Prospects!! The Love that each of them young Brothas showed is remarkable!! I believe that each of them will do good things in Baseball!!
Good to see how much passion you have for baseball, and all you need to do in the city to get work in…keep moving forward, hope to see you pitching in the bigs one day…
These guys remind me of my dreams along with my HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL BUDDIES .............PARKCHESTER, BRONX AREA........I'M GLAD BASEBALL IS STILL ALIVE IN NYC!!!!!!⚾️🇵🇷⚾️🇵🇷⚾️
Man this kid reminds me of me in hs glad to see he’s having success in the game. I did the same thing always finding a way just didn’t have the success like this kid best of luck to this kid in whatever he does this work ethic finding a way to get it done will transfer over to everything in life love this video seems like a great kid have a great career
Great video. I hope this brings awareness to the world that NYC has some of the most talented baseball players in the country. Some of the toughest and hungriest players. All they need is a shot of opportunity. Keep up the great work young men.
Can't wait to see this kid in the big leagues. Praying for his success man. I've lived in New York City for a very long time. One thing I learn, you have to find ways to make your dreams happen. There's a lot of talent in New York City. People really don't see it. When True talent starts right here. Bless his journey yo
Hats off to East Coast ball players who make it. Traditionally West Coast ball players are better in respects of the weather, we play all year long and don’t get snow or below freezing temps etc. East Coast has an unfair advantage but has to work around the weather
I feel like people only scout basketball in New York, but often times I'll hear about these football players and baseball players and it's crazy for the rest of us around the country, I live in New England, to expect these kids to be playing football and baseball when there isn't even any grass for miles. Lol hope this kid blows up. I know what it's like to have to train with minimal tools to be the best you can be, I think it makes you tough.
Great video to give coaches who have no context of where we really come from and do for the love we have for the game. Great vid guys, glad the algorithm threw this my way. Hoping the best for Pepe🙏🏼💪#nyc4life
It starts with the love of the game. The passion will infuse you. No conditions with stop you from working on your game. Keep fueling your passion. Have fun and compete.
Good stuff. Another young Dominicano 🇩🇴 with huge dreams and aspirations to make it out of the hood into the big leagues. Stay with it young man. Reminds me of my former High School teammate Alex Arias & Manny Ramirez (arrived at GDubs after I graduated in 1988) from George Washington. Dominicans ran NYC baseball ⚾️ back then. Didn’t notice what high school he plays for? Looking forward to see this young man’s progress in the near future 🙏🏾.
its so easy to be distracted in NYC. Hard to be obsessive about being great at sports when there so much influence and circumstance. God bless this kid and his friends. Keep your heads on straight.
Dude looks like a legit pro prospect. I hope he stays healthy and that he keeps working out. A good coach or two along the way and he be signed by a MLB team real soon. Lots luck, Bro' !!
Texas, Cali and Florida kids may have the advantage of warmer weather but they have nowhere near the heart and determination of NYC kids. Go on kid, make the city proud.
Beautiful pitching mechanics. Throw your best pitches, I know a lot of pitchers are trying to stray away from complex pitches for the sake of their elbow, you gotta get their first.
Baseball is thee hardest sport to play especially from NYC i hope he makes the Yankees some day seems like a decent kid hopefully he doesn't get caught up in anything that is happening around him i know i live in Brooklyn and was born in Manhattan heads up kid stop eating pork
Shout to Pepe and his buddies. Wish you lots of success to you guys keep grinding If ya ever up for a workout come to McCarren Tuesday nights starting March
I’m from bk and even though we may not have the facilities they have in rich suburban areas, we have some of the hardest working athletes in the nation.
Nah bro ...... I see the bk in your name so I'm assuming you're from bk. Transportation is a headache and dangerous. Several athletes throughout the years died taking the train or bus due to some dumb stuff...... much safer for your parents to give you a ride. Salute to all them athletes that take public transportation that's true dedication
interesting call at the end with im assuming great johns manager? pepe possibly had the hiphop lane available and still chose to go with baseball. all speculation ofc but respectable if so
I hate seeing courts locked up and gated. I live in a suburban area and even our baseball fields are gated and locked. Kids can’t just go and hit a descent field and practice or play. They are only unlocked for tournaments on weekends. It’s complete bullshit.
so when I was training my nephew it was just me and him and we didn't want to shag all the balls out on the field for BP. So we flipped it around --- I pitched to him from the backstop (+ L-screen) and we set up homeplate about 25 feet in front of me (towards the pitching mound) with a Bow-Net and he was hitting towards the big 50ft backstop screen. That way the 50 ft backstop would 'catch'/ knockdown all the balls that he hit and it was better than if he was hitting in the normal direction and we would have to go shag all the balls. This was like an outdoor batting 'cage'.
As a baseball player that lives in Israel and has to take the train for 2 hours 6 times a week, I can really say I can relate to some of the conditions
All these kids have a big dream of playing major league baseball. It's not that easy. He may not make it. Advice to all you young potential baseball players. Get a good education. Have something to fall back on if your dreams don't come true. School first.
this is where you see who got real love for the game, no giant facilities with every resource around the corner at their disposal these dudes just find a way to get better by any means
You nailed it!

That’s why nyc has the best athletes

I'll be looking out for this young man. He is very dedicated and hard working! Look forward to seeing him in the future.
Nice to see a kid having to hustle to workout, opposed to some kid taking his Land Rover to a facility or having a indoor complex at his house.
Sounds disgusting when you put it that way… The truly privileged suck.

The thing with NYC is that the scouting is terrible out here

Yeah the scouts all go to the games down south and on the west coast

Agree. When I was a kid this wasn't the case
In the city they get opened one way or another
The break he has on his pitches has some serious drop…I’m sure it only going to get better

This was fire. Gotta check BUBA in Baltimore. They're doing something similar.
bro what are they just hitting balls directly into the school from the tennis courts 😂? NYC is truly different, gotta make do with limited space

All the best pitchers out of NYC had to come out of Brooklyn. Frankie Rodriguez George Carrion Dellin Betances. Keep doing your thing boy!!!!!!
