- Greg and I spend an hour or so catching up with Annie and Matts at Mountain Crest this afternoon!
We checked in on my installation from 4 years ago and walked through their massive cold hearty succulent inventory.
The largest distributor of cold hardy succulents, Mountain Crest ships throughout the US and territories.
Remember, 100% of the dfs shop proceeds go to The Trevor Project in the Month of June.
We’ve got some new pride merch this year, too.
Be sure to check it out!

LOVE LOVE LOVE Mountain Crest. I got my first succulent locally about 5 years ago and started searching for info on cold hardy succulents when I found your page. Even though I'm in zone 5, I still watch every day. Mountain Crest is my go to place for new succulents to plant. I love that their site can be searched by zone. I'm a lazy gardener and only plant cold hardy outdoor succulents so that in the winter I can ignore them knowing they're fine under the snow.
Yes to Mountain Crest.... Yes to a display for Zone 5-6...Opuntia do very well here in the land of enchantment... They survive the heat, sun, cold etc. AND... they are one of the only things that the squirrels avoid...
I got my first order from them today in the mail and my free mystery bonus succulent was a string of pearls. I got 13 succulents and Im SO excited to get them planted an watch them grow. x
Mountain Crest Gardens was the first supplier I ever ordered from online. I ordered a mixed tray for Brandon for his bday after seeing Laura from Garden Answer telling how she ordered all of her succulent plug trays from them.
We were blown away by the quality, and they are a favorite of ours. If you're considering ordering from them, do it!
Also, Laura, if you remember that tall terracotta planter of succulents that Brandon did up, it has some of the Chick Charms in it!
I also ordered after seeing gardenanswer receive an order and she did an unboxing video! Every single plug I received was perfect! It wasn’t cheap but it was packaged and delivered perfectly!
Glad you mentioned this! I didn’t remember which company she purchased her plants from.
All of my succulents came from Garden Crest! Live in Missouri zone 6A. Have them in containers, rock beds and raised beds. Love love love them. Also have a few soft succulents that we take inside in the winter. Never has Mountain Crest sent a plant that hasn't arrived thriving. Now we share with our neighbors. So thankful for you Laura, learning so many new ideas and plant varities. Love a hot mess!
Mountain Crest never disappoints! I've bought tons of plants from them. My hardy sedums do really well in my 4a location, ice plants and heufflies get eaten by rodents... Hoping my sempervivums will survive, because they are gorgeous. Love the DFS team! PS: I've bought indoor and outdoor succulents from them, always arrive healthy and on time, never an issue. Highly recommend! PPS: ...and now that I've watched this video, I need to put in a cactus order at MCG...
Does this mean team dfs is going to be doing a cold hardy succulent and cactus ranch installation!? 😍
Wouldn't that be a treat.
What a fun idea!
Would love to see that! 😸✌️
I love mountain crest❤️ my order came early today and I made a beautiful arrangement with the succulents!
Zone 4 too. I actually have opuntias growing under maples up here in MN. Opuntias, some echinocereus, and escobaria are tolerant, as well as a wide range of sempervivum and sedum.
Camera moving a little too fast at times. What a fun place to go! 😍❤️🌵
I received my first shipment from Mountain Crest Gardens today! I am so happy with all my new succulents! The quality of the plants is awesome!
I've been getting all my succulents stuff from them. Well almost. Trying to do a zone 5 garden
Mountain Crest is an amazing operation. It was fun seeing the installation after 4 years and a link to the original would be great. Howie and I love all the purple boulders we were gifted by the wonderful folks at Mountain Crest when we were there for the installation. It was such a very fun two days!! ❤️
How interesting! Really enjoy the tours TY. Adorable cacti flowers are in bloom at LotusLand now, it’s amazing how many pollinators love them.
Two of my favorites-Laura Eubanks and Mountain Crest Gardens❣️ When I moved to Morro Bay, CA, ( Sunset Zone 9a) a couple of years ago, I saw lots of succulents in the neighborhood. I knew nothing about succulents, so I ignored them and instead planted a few of my old favorites. When everything started looking bad- being attacked by fungal diseases and more aphids than I’d ever seen before, not to mention pocket gophers-I began to see the beauty of succulents. 😉
I bought a couple of books and then looked on RUclips for a mentor, which is where I found "the succulent tip of the day." I loved your tapestries, and my local nursery had a good selection of plants I could use to try my hand at creating one, but Holy Moly, are they expensive! So I looked for a distributor online and found Mountain Crest Gardens. I have now bought a couple hundred starter succulents from them (about half of them planted so far). They come well-packaged, healthy and accompanied by their names. There is a tremendous variety, and the price is great. If you need large statement specimens, you still might need to pay big bucks somewhere, but I love all the beautiful babies I’m getting from MCG.
It’s exciting getting a tour of the place, led by my favorite gardener, Laura!
First! I love mcg, I’ve ordered several times . Can’t wait to watch more of the video.
I love hardy succs, I have big rock garden with them. Here in 7a it’s the only succs we can grow year round.
Sedum dasyphyllum needs to stay constantly moist or almost constantly moist during hot westher
You hit 100k!! Congrats!!
What beautiful collection and operations at a mammoth scale.
Thank you for sharing beautiful and amazing succulents lovely collection beautiful ❤❤
Whew, I wish Greg would sloooow that camera way down. I actually get a little motion sick! The only bummer about Mountain Crest is that I live an hour away but they don't take any street traffic.
Me too--I felt sick!😅
Sorry! My fault! We’ll slow down next time. Promise😊
Where’s the link to the video of 4 years ago?
You have such amazing design skills, I love all your succulent garden designs.
Wow I’m looking them up !!😁😂
What a fun tour! I'm so curious, what is the blue and yellow stuff above the tables?
Thanks for sharing.
Amazing!!😍😍 (a little camera work tip for Greg--stop the camera and focus on something more often, otherwise the viewer can start to feel queasy if the camera is always moving--thank you!!😅🤢)
oh, this is good to know.. i know Laura from Garden Answer gets things from them, too.. i've wandered around their website but haven't ordered anything - yet! how fun!! can't wait to see what you and Annie get together to do! how many plants left with you??? 😍😍😍
I am one of many that got their first plant from MCG Ive been impressed every time I’ve gone through them! I actually just received an order from them Saturday ☺️
Mountain Crest was not the first or only online company I ordered succulents from but it is the ONLY one I'll order from here on out. Plants are healthy, good size and packaged so well that no matter where you live I'm sure you'll get them in good shape. Don't hesitate to order from them. You won't be sorry.
Hi Laura, thanks for being you. We love Annie. Can you please post the link to the original installation 4 years ago as mentioned in the clip? Some might not be able to find it.
What the video you mentioned creating the rock garden
MCG is my goto for mail order succulents!! 🥰🥰🥰
What are their recommendations for soil in a place that it pretty humid and gets rain often? I live in arkansas and I am scared my semps will rot if I don't have the right soil
I visited your installation here in August, Laura! I got photos in front of it like a fan girl. 😆
Unfortunately MCG is closed to the public, so my trip there was otherwise disappointing.
I have had really lovely plants come in the mail from MCG, but they're pricey. So I only order from them if I want something specific that I can't find in my area.
I have a question for the future video. Are all of the plants that are shipped out cold-hardy?
OMG! YES!!! Great tour! I have fallen in love with this nursery! It’s actually spurred my succulent addiction…I want one of EVERY plant they have! I have now purchased from Mountain Crest twice and the plants have always arrived perfect, very healthy, and no damage. They package their plants very securely for the trip, they even include a free “mystery” succulent with your order and information on care and tips. Can not wait to purchase more! LOVE THEM!!! Looking forward to your next video with them.
Too fast guys. 😂
My wife’s favorite is MCG. She buy plants almost every month from them. We live in NY. It’s really difficult to keep alive echeverias all year long. So every winter she lost plants and keep buying again 😃
Ordered another shirt today! Yay!
LOVE Mountain Crest. I’ve ordered from them six times already this year and 50% of what I order is inspired by Your channel. In fact I just ordered Kalanchoe Lucia after seeing them on Your channel. They’re gorgeous!!!
The BEST. 💚
They are the BEST.
I left my collection of almost 200 different types of succulents in Puerto Rico. 😭
Now I have a new garden and a few planters with almost 80 different succulents at the Pocono Mountains (learning how to make them thrive in this weather).
Almost all of my succulents (maybe 90%) are from Mountains Crest.
They arrive beautiful and healthy.
My first online order, of succulents, was through Mountain Crest, in early 2022. Each order I have received in Ohio (USA), is delicately packaged and arrives in excellent condition! This RUclips video is a treat to view Mountain Crest's Production Plant.
Astounded with Mountain Crest Gardens quality. Placed several orders with them and all have been beautiful plants. All of my orders were shipped with care. My orders have been packed well so even the “This Side Up” boxes that’ve ended up sideways on my porch by the carrier have been good.
Purchased a gift card for a family member who used it, (and added to it) and now she is now hooked on MCG to!
So we can order from there?!?! 😄😄
They ship to Hawaii???
Oh Mountain Crest is my favorite shop for soft & hard succulents. We have several out door containers and also in ground plantings, we are located in Casper WY zone 5a. The hard succulents make it through out cold winters/snow. Still learning how to plant a succulent ribbon. Fun to see the inside working of there shipping center.
Wow, what a wonderful place!
So many beautiful plants 🤩
Can I ask what the blue and yellow fabric strips are for?
My favorite place to order from. Just got my birthday plants lol from them. They also have a awesome rewards program. They are awesome. Beginners friendly.
Wow what an amazing variety of plants love some of those tiny cactus 🐨🦘❤️
Hey Laura, can u ask mountain crest if it’s ok to plant sedums under a huge live oak that will receive only shade in a hot and humid climate right now? I live in San Antonio. Thank u.
My order is probably getting ready to be shipped out. great company to do business with. I was hoping you would be paying a visit and you would give us a tour, how fun!
Can I ask the editor that you’ll be with why the bottom leaves of a hen and chicks I have downturn? They look healthy and happy but the lower half of the leaves turn downward toward the soil instead of upward. Is this normal?
I have that copper canyon chicks and hen from them! I'm in zone 7b and have them in the ground. They are happy happy!
I never seem to have the time to check out this place in Fort Jones when I'm up in that neck of the woods. After seeing this video, I know I need to make the time. Thanks for showing this place to the world!
MCG is, unfortunately, closed to the public, so don't go out of your way too much to stop there. (I made this mistake last year.)
@@7memories Well, that sucks. Maybe I can just get a look at the outdoor succulent garden. Thanks. :0)
Thank you for the video. Love Mountain Crest!❤️
Something for my zone 6 🌵❄️😚🤗 thank you!
Does Mountain Crest Gardens have a catalogue? If so, how do we get one?
I adore MCG! Thank you for the wonderful tour!
Love that nursery, bought all my succulents from there, they come perfectly package and great shape…. I am in San diego.
Thanks been wanting to see this, cannot wait till Wednesday.
I'm in zone 7 and only use Mountain Crest
Thanks for the tour of Mountain Crest. I have bought some mangavas from them and have been very pleased.
I have a question about stones you use in your designs. I have been looking for CALI-GOLD 3/8, but the yards show me PACIFIC-GOLD. I live in the SF Bay AREA and wonder if CALI-GOLD AND PACIFIC-GOLD are the same (or are close enough so I shouldn’t worry about it)? Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Go for it! Common Rock names vary with geography😊
Thanks for showing us around!!!!
I have a hardy succulent garden
Lovely can’t wait to see ya on Wednesday
I live in Redding California ,I am a loyal customer of Mountain Crest for more than 5 years.
Ha, me, too! Out Placer.
Could you do a video on how to grow succulents in containers indoors? I receive tiny succulents from MCG each month but I only have about a 50% success rate with them. I live in a rather dark apartment in Chicago and wonder if lack of light might be the problem. Would LOVE to learn more on how to use indoor lighting, how to water, and care for all these precious babies.
Welcome to the true Northern California in my neck of the woods! I was wondering if you’d ever visit up here and here you are! Enjoy your videos and landscaping with succulents and cacti! Thank you! Keep up the wonderful videos! Love them!
I was very happy with my Mountain Crest succulents. Thanks for the tour! The Hen and chicks are one of my favorites. I’m a California Central Coast girl. I don’t do snow. 🥰
Love Mountain Crest! I ordered my mangave plugs from them, and have them in mind for a small tapestry spot I want to fill in my yard.
