Honestly, I basically ignored altered artes up to this point of the game. A lot of them are pretty useful, not only because the chain together pretty quickly(faster than chaining normally?), but they allow you to chain Burst Artes to Assault Artes, bringing Asbel's sword back into its sheath. Given that all of the other ways aren't so combo-friendly(Sparrow Seal can be ok, but the third hit is pretty delayed), this can definitely help for comboing bosses to death.
I've grinded WAY too much in this game, but now I have pretty nice stats, and the hitstun of my attacks are great, especially Bestial Roar. I was never really good at this game, mostly because I ignored dualizing for so long, thus making simple boss battles longer than they should be.(And forcing me to use Life Bottles every 10 seconds.) Just like Zestiria, once you sit down and read the guide about how dualizing works, it becomes a lot easier to understand. In my case, I used the Kylelicious quality to get my sword's ACC stat to 999. (Long Sword. Crazy, right?) I used the whole Rigid to Kylelicious cycle. Needless to say, I'm on NG+ with "Unlock Qualities" from the grade shop. If you're not doing so well in this game, DUALIZE. You'll thank me later.

Same. Wish its battle system would show up in another game.
Asbel is my favourite character in the series, and I have to say he has the best moveset out of all of them too. The fact that the propertys of artes change you use them twice in succession, including most of their animations, and that you have altered artes that you can combo after other artes, makes him very unique and one of the few, if not the ONLY character in all of tales that can use almost all his artes while being playable simply by holding the Button down after another arte! I really loved that and that made him incredibly fun to play!
interestingly Alphen from Tales of Arise plays similiar with his Blazing Sword Artes, but he feels a bit more limited. Still love it =D
This dude just goes so hard in all his artes..
Who else wants a pc version
And a Nintendo Switch version too for one of us.

Glad I played Asbel in “Tales of the Rays” along with Cheria though he’s much better here.
Asbel is just combination of Vergil + Elemental knight. So much samurai move in this showcase.

Graces f has my favorite battle system tbh, it's my favorite game in the series along with Xillia 1 and 2. My 2nd favorite battle system has to be Hearts R's.

I'm confused it's been awhile since I played but I thought incineration wave was more laser beam like man I'm getting old.
Gaius' in Tales of Xillia is a laser beam, I think most of the games it's the flame wave like here though.
Fun fact, Asbel's incineration wave is the first time we've had it from a playable character.
Please remake for Switch.

Asbel is bland character-wise and story-wise.
But damn, his artes are so satisfying to execute and are visually awesome.
Number 1 tales MC in terms of gameplay.
