Relatively new to fountains. I have two extra fine nib pens with piston style converters but looking forward to trying a medium nib. Happy to add more ink colors to small collection. Loving the blue-green color!
I am new to fountain pen so this is my first one. I love the pen! The green is probably my favorite ink color. If we want to get more inks for this pen what should we look for in the inks we order?
I’m so incredibly excited that people are going to be able to try Fountain pens and Ink more. Thank you all so much for including it in the box. I cannot wait to get it in my own hands.
It's clear what people are choosing as their favourite colour, but surprisingly I'm really liking that Absinth Green! It's got such a vibrant pop to it when paired next to those deeper inks.
I was SOOO excited to be surprised with the fountain pen. It was hard to not watch the unboxing reveals but every once in a while I show restraint 😜. Love Archer & Olive!! Great box again!!
This video was SUPER helpful. Even though I've used fountain pens before, this style of converter was new to me, & the cleaning instructions are also very much appreciated. FWIW, I found better results with dipping the converter directly into the bottle - as I got less 'pooling' in the nib afterward. Thanks so much!
This video is helpful, makes a lot more sense than the written instructions on the card in the box. The ‘turn the black end of the converter’ doesn’t make any sense to me. It seems to slide instead of turn. 🤷🏻♀️
I am so glad you did this video. I'm used to putting ink cartridges in my pens and would have no idea how to fill this style pen. I can't wait for my package to arrive today! (blue-green ink)
I just got mine in the mail today -- my first A&O products ever! I'm definitely excited to use the pen. I used one in middle and high school with those plastic refill vials that click into place, so this is a bit of a nostalgia trip for me too. (The box was amazing, btw. The products and presentation are gorgeous!)
This was incredibly helpful. I have never used a fountain pen before and received my first one with my latest A&O subscription. Thank you for this very helpful and informative video. I'll probably try the blue-green ink first.
Thank you for the tutorial. I’ve always wanted to play around with fountain pens as I love hand lettering (I know this is different). My mother used fountain pens almost exclusively when I was a young child.
Oh. This also made me realise how old I am. We had to use a fountain pen at school. We were issued them once we had mastered writing with a pencil. Other types of pen were not allowed.
What brand of pen is it for buying extra converters or cartridges or nibs? I found the nib too fine for me. The video is so helpful as the instructions on the card had me twisting to fill. The dark green is a lovely colour but I think it would look better on paper than it did on my hands 😂😂😂
This is my first fountain pen and I’m very excited!! This might be a stupid question but is there a chance the pen could leak? Like could I fill it and toss it into my purse to take and use at work?
You can travel with a fountain pen. Just make sure the converter is pushed in all the way, the barrel is screwed up tight and the lid is clicked. If it has a particularly rough journey the nib may leak into the lid but should just need a quick wipe over with a paper towel.
I've never had a good fountain pen leak. If they're decently made, all the parts should click and/or screw together nice and secure. You might get some ink inside the cap, but rinsing or wiping it off is easy enough.
@@jenn7309 no, I think they mean that the converter is pushed all the way into the bottom portion of the pen. Anytime it’s not pushed in all the way, it can leak, whether you’re traveling or not. I hope this helps. 😊
I'm editing my comment as I missed an entire part. For beginners I would go with the nib/feed attached method and have a rag to wipe off the nib and grip section.
When you were filling the pen you should have told everyone to have a paper towel on hand or a rag that you don’t care about getting stained. Also fill your pen in an area that you can clean easily in case the ink gets spilled. Soft scrub with bleach works well to get ink off of countertops. Don’t ask me how I know!!! So do not fill your pen on your nice wooden table. Once the converter is filled with ink and you want that ink to get down into the feed you can push the lever down ever so slightly to force some of the ink down into the feed. A less messy way of filling the converter is to get a needle nose syringe. This way you don’t get ink all over your hands.
Have you ever used a fountain pen before? Which ink color was your favorite?
I have a dip fountain pen, so this will be new! I loved that blue green!! But the other two are beautiful as well!
My Pilot Metropolitan is my go-to journaling pen. Can't wait to try out this new one!!!

This will be my first time to try a fountain pen. Thank you for this easy to follow tutorial 😊
You'rw welcome!! Have fun 🥰

Good to know! Definitely pros and cons to both filling methods!!

Thank you for this tutorial. This made setting my first refillable fountain pen so easy.

The green is just gorgeous! I've never tried a fountain pen before so this will be my first time!
AH hope you enjoy it!
It's really a delightful kind of pen. Writing with it is gorgeous, and the variety of inks out there for them are staggering.
This was the first time I've used a fountain pen and I've totally fallen in love. Writing cursive feels so satisfying. :D
Ah so happy to hear that!!
I just got mine TODAY! Going to try the green. Beautiful color. My First Box and I’m Thrilled!!
I love that blue green

So happy this was helpful!
I just got mine today! I can't wait to try the turquoise!
Do I have to empty the ink out after every use? Will it dry out if left in pen?
No it's fine to leave in the pen as you use it. However, if you plan not to use it for over a month I would recommend cleaning and storing it clean.
I love them all, but I think I will try the green first! I have used a fountain pen, but not with a converter!! Very excited to learn😊
Hope you enjoy!!
Blue green!! This is my first fountain pen and I’m so excited to play with it! Thanks got the helpful tips! 😁
You are so welcome!
so glad i watched this video
my box should arrive today or tomorrow i cant wait for that green ink its soo pretty

You are so welcome!
great tutorial! I used the light green first and I love it!
I love fountain pens and they are my pen of choice. I am SO excited that Archer & Olive has created one. I’m most excited to try the blue/green ink. ❤
Oh so happy to hear that! That blue/green is calling to me 😻
@@ArcherandOlive my favorite stationery store and my favorite type of pen! What could be better?! I cannot wait to get mine. Hopefully soon! 🤞🏻❤️
Ooh, I've never tried a converter like that! My current fountain pens are all squeeze converters. And those inks... That teal-y one is lovely!
Hope you like trying out another style!!
I’m excited for these. Off subject - I wish I could have nails like yours!!! Beautiful.
Aw thank you!

Easier than the other converters I have used!

If you reach out to hello@archerandolive.com we'll see if we can find that info for you!
Hi, you can order more converters from pen stores. Also different size nibs.
Yes absolutely!
I’m so excited to have a fountain pen! And of course I got ink all over myself before I gave in & watched this video. 😂
It's a given 😂

@@ArcherandOlive what do you mean by converter pushed in all the way? Like it should be empty? Sorry I’ve never used one before so I’m a total newbie

Thanks for sharing 🥰 I initially learnt with just the converter, but I'm finding the nib/feed attached method is much easier!
May I ask what make is this fountain pen?
The pen is custom made with a Wing Sung nib

Is it bad that I love your accent better than the pen 😂😂
You'd be the first one to say that 😂
