These hinges are great. I have used them wherever I can. We may cut the rudders a little shorter so that when the skeg is aground there is no upward pressure on the rudders so they can still be swung.

Do you have a place where you have pictures posted of your build, I know I have seen a couple in the past . As I recall you were further along than us. Have thought about the pressure on the hinges due to grouting but went with as designed. How do you feel about end plates on rudders? Best to you.

Thank you for this video. I bought a used Tiki21 and needed some clarification on lashing the rudders. A question; do you inject epoxy into the holes to seal the wood and secure the lashings. If not, how do you ensure the timber is sealed up? T

We predrilled oversized holes, filled with thickened epoxy, let it cure, and then drilled the proper sized holes. Yes we intend to inject epoxy into the holes to further seal the wood if we missed a spot and to secure the lashings. Looking forward to seeing some videos of your boat as you progress and on the water. Thanks for watching.

Has anyone mentioned waxing the line?

Wharram recommends squirting thickened epoxy into the holes to further seal the holes and to hold the line in place to reduce wear. We will be using spectra/dynema line for durability. Thanks for watching.
