Mahalo for this!!! Ewww! I'm in Maui and thank goodness we've got real seafood, I think?! Too many fishermen here to pull that! Aloha from Maui!

I live by the docks here in the UK and i can definitely taste the difference between the fake stuff now. Living in NC we would only go to the docks to get fresh seafood. After getting food poisoning from grocery store crab, i would never trust it again! If you happen to live near any docks and have access, try to buy only from the local fisherman!

My father was a captain of a shrimp boat. We had the best seafood bar none. We would have the fat gulf shrimp.
My dad would catch flounder, which was my favorite, red snapper, and in the winter they would go oystering.
But my dad always believed in helping people who didn’t have that much money. They will double up bread bags and fill with the shrimp. Every Sunday we would have a fish fry 😊

Back in early 80's I was an exec chef in a seafood restaurant. We brought in by air, 3 times a week, fish gutted, packed and shipped less than 24 hours from time of boats coming in. So we knew everything was real deal. However one of the ways people were getting ripped off was in scallops. The counterfeit being used then was called 'shark punch' which is exactly what it was. So they could be large or bay. Shark cheap then and typically a by-catch. So turn it into scallops!

Regular sea scallops have the muscle connected to it after the tool scrapes it off the shell. If not then sting ray wings are jabbed with a hollow round pipe repeatedly then pushed out into proper bags.

We have to be accountable as well.. We are too lazy and too trusting when it comes to food in the usa... We want it cheaper and faster than normal...then there's a problem and we just point fingers at everyone but ourselves

A good way to make sure your fish is real is to catch it yourself.

Love your content. This real vs fake is like a 4 way street. It's illegal to catch real live-food and grow foods. It could have been good to make fake foods for shortage when time you may need to regrow foods. But $$$ is what lead to corruption. Which on the other side of the street Control puts laws to have license and everything becomes illegal.

This so nasty. I'm glad I hate caviar and raw fish. All I can say is at least it is fish. I'm scared to eat any meat at all. They are now growing meat buy using human and cancerous human grown into a meat. Pull up information on meat that moves after it is dead. They even a piece from KFC after fried it still tries to crawl away. The meat that move after dead and butchered the flesh is still moving a they say that it is delayed muscle. However I was a surgical tech and I can say a live person we operated on NEVER ONCE did the living muscle we cut into move throughout the entire operation.
