    You can run the correct CA action and then apply an Edge mask to just allow the CA correction to be applied to just the edges instead of painting it out. It works fantastically!

    Nothing better than TK Friday's! By far, my favorite videos on RUclips. Every time I think I "know it all", you always come through and exceed my expectations (already high). This one was exceptionally good. I've had many teachers in my life and you are at the top of my list of favorites. Thanks so much & keep up the great work!

    Hi Dave. Finally you convinced me to acquire TK8 !!! Going back to your July 16, 2021 tutorial on "TK7 COMBO/CX PANEL: Discover TRIPLE PLAY" . How can I mask street lights, using TK8 Lights TP, to blend light brightness to an image that I took earlier without the streets lights on ? Basically, I have a picture before and after sunset, and I want to bled the lights from the later to the earlier one . Highly appreciate your advise.

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 года назад +1

      Without actually seeing your layers it is hard for me to say. I would think you could use a zone mask to target the area you want to effect and possibly output the mask as a black mask painting through a selection on the layer you want to blend. I would make sure you have good feathering on your brush. I may be totally wrong with this advice, again not actually seeing what you are doing.

    Love your videos. I've watched dozens, especially your TK stuff. New to this and learning a lot. Thank you. I see you've customized the panel to open plugins (Topaz, Luminar, etc). I've been trying to make an action to just open the image in a plugin to no avail. (I know how to reconfigure the button in TK to a different action) Can't find anything online about it. On yours, are those just applying some general setting from the plugin that you commit to? ...or are you using those buttons to just open the image in the plugin. Just curious, no worries.

    Hi Dave: Another great Friday morning pick-me-up video. When moving the image from LrC into PS, I notice that you don't typical use the feature to 'Open Image as Smart Object . . . '. Is there any advantage/disadvantage by opening the image in PS in this way? Your tips for removing CA is brillant! I also like seeing how you handled building contrast in the roads, and trees. Thanks to Steve for sharing this image. Keep well . . . Cheers, Keith

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 года назад

      Thanks Keith. If you are unsure of your initial RAW adjustments then it is a good idea to open as a smart object in Photoshop. Once I make my initial raw adjustments I am usually satisfied with them. That’s the main reason I don’t open as a smart object. However, if you need to blend several images together that is where smart objects really come into play.

    I love your videos, very helpful in my use of the TK panels. When I D&B through a mask on a 50% gray layer I add that mask to the layer. I feel this way the mask is saved and I can come back to it if need or even fill the layer again with 50% gray and start over. Any reason I shouldn't do this?

    • @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly
      @thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly  2 года назад

      I am not sure I understand you correctly but I think I do. I will have to think about it some more. Here is another way that should work for saving the mask. When you click on the 50% Dodging Icon the Selection is loaded. You can then use the TK8 Combo or CX panel, depending which you use, and Click on the SAVE SELECTION TO CHANNELS ICON and then you would be able to access it again through MY CHANNELS in the TK8 MultiMask Panel.

    • @xke427
      @xke427 2 года назад

      @@thejoyofeditingwithdavekelly Yes, that would be another way of saving the D&B mask.

    Thanks Dave so many cool tips!!! Question, I often like to use the brush flow vs. opacity as brush opacity has a hard stop limit and flow doesn’t and it’s easier to build up the paint you’re applying. I usually use flow when doing texture blends. I know you can achieve basically the same results using either, but do you ever use flow vs. opacity.
