If the 78-85 avg degrees is hot? Its perfect. Hawaii is far from the tropics and is not super humid or hot like the Southern Caribbean for example. Aloha.
i felt two emotions while watching this video. I felt really really happy then i felt sad because i realise that working sucks and i'd rather live on a great beach somewhere just enjoying life. great video very cool HD i almost reached in lol
If your asking me, Makapu'u and Lanikai beach would be nice to see. Also Sandy Beach during the summer months when the waves are kicking up can be special.

why yes it is... Now imagine it on a 50 inch plasma on DVD or Blu-Ray at your house... even MORE relaxing... like a Tsunami... well sort of... you get the idea.
Hi Mike, the quality of the HD for the internet is a lot lower and highly compressed vs broadcast vs Blu-Ray. I'd just recommending getting our dvd or Blu-ray precisely because they are made for TV. I put this stuff up for internet only with lower quality. The Blu-ray is 20 Gigs with high data rates looks awesome. The DVD at 5 gigs looks 90% as good at normal viewing distances. Check out our website or amazon for more on "Hawaii beaches"
I just moved to the mainland, I didn't feel home sick until I watched this, especially in the begining, I am from the east side of O'ahu. What the heck am I doing in Colorado, it is freezing here. My heart is still at home. Kevin
That's great. We have over 14 hours of just nature sounds from all of our DVDs online now. We upload weekly, subscribe to see our upcoming HAWAII BEACHES 2.
I am glad to see the input from around the world on the beauty of the Seychelles, Thailand, Indonesia, Hawaii, etc. I have traveled to Oahu., Maui, Kauai and many caribbean islands. I pretty much love 'em all but the main question is not which is the best etc. The main question is how are we going to keep them that way in light of the massive burden of human polution. Check out the info on the pacific gyre/plastic trash in the N.Pacific. I heard it is twice the size of my home state, Texas!
Yes, that is the hard part of making the DVD.... finding empty beaches in Hawaii without people or surfers... Lots of dirt roads and satelite maps to find the best beaches... only to find locals and other tourists who found them on the internet. See the Hawaii episode with the turtle... that drive is 2 miles out nasty lava road - mostly 4 wheel drive only... but there were 20 cars out there that made the journey. Its getting harder and harder to find these beaches.
Googling it shows you can get an sony ex1 for about $6500.00. It's the first small sized camera approved by the Discovery channel to shoot HD projects compared to other pro HD cameras starting at $30,000+
HE is sleeping... watch, he moves when the waves hit him. Come on, its a metaphore for you guys to relax... not die... LOL... Rest in Peace now... like my holy monk seal.
Yes, there was a bit of color correction plus we shot with a polarizer that saturates the colors. On HAWAII BEACHES 2, I will go with a bit more natural look.
Arrive early or late. Use a 4 wheel drive on secluded dirt roads. Use google satalite maps to find empty beaches, and hike away from people. I had a jogger running by every 2 mins, so I just timed the shot as soon as she ran by until she came back... ;-)

It was like early Tuesday morning last September. I did work hard to shoot around people though and had many walk through my shots. Also, if you watch carefully, there are some crazy body surfers on those 10-12 foot faced waves.
You are right. I am still learning color correction, the early shots of the sand are a bit to orange or saturated, the later are closer. As for the water... shhh... Im making it a bit better than it looks. Hollywood and artists are not about reality.... than as much beauty.... I am still trying to find the balance. My next dvd, I will make sure the beaches are better.
Thanks! I have been to Hawaii four times and never went. Looks beautiful. I noticed the water has a green hue to it, are you using an filter of some kind? I remember Hawaii's water being very blue.
ur so lucky 2 live in hawaii lol and ur double lucky to shoot footage like this, in florida the whole place is polluted with people.... wow i wish i was u when u were taking the footage just all alone and staring at the ocean so peaceful... lol
50 foot Waves? That's not a wave, that's a Tsunami. All the big waves are only there with the winter storms and are full of professional surfers, jet skis, and news helicopter... very cool - but not so relaxing. ;-)
@4127ammar - you have 3 choices of music - Hawaiian, New Age, and Jazz links at the very start of the video to choose from. The DVD and Blu-Ray actually has 6 tracks to choose from.
Actually, there was a shark attack where I shot on Barking Sands Beach on Kauai. And yes, I do use a polarizer and color correction. Hawaii Beaches 2 will be a bit more natural, as I was learning on this title.
Maybe, ;-). I was learning color correction on this dvd, I will try to be a bit more natural on the sequel. The beaches is also less orange. Try google maps Satelite and turn on the extras - pics and videos... and you can see all the beaches in Hawaii are well geo-tagged. You will see many of my pics and videos linked there.
I looked into shooting on lanikaii. However, its a private island and very expensive to stay and get too. As for enhancing reality - my job as a filmmaker / artist is to create the best shot I can. If you? want reality, google images will show you plenty of washed out pics. I am not there to document the beaches or the homeless that are taking over the public beach parks. Even the hidden beaches have now been populated thanks to google satellite maps and rented 4x4s. Paradise not so lost. ;-)
Correct. All DVDs are only 480i or 480p. However, being shot in HD is a lot sharper than standard definition. See our other clips and compare the detail. 1080p is only possible on Blu-Ray. The Blu-Ray should be availble in 6-8 weeks.
Try pressing pause... let the video download - the red line will fill the window... then press play. If it still is skipping, your computer is not quite fast enough for smooth playback.

That is Yokohana Beach at the end of the road on the west side of the island.

close your eye and enjoy this nature ocean sounds ....... and relax.... hmmmm.....nice........
I noticed you timed the shot change with the sound of the waves. Nice detail!!
You know it sounds so much better in person... and it's a lot louder because of all the tourists!
Why do you not just watch the other 3 segments of the other 3 islands? Hawaii is my favorite.
Googling it shows you can get an sony ex1 for about $6500.00. It's the first small sized camera approved by the Discovery channel to shoot HD projects compared to other pro HD cameras starting at $30,000+

LOL - no he's napping. You can see him move when the wave hits him.
hang on, where are the 50 foot waves in the Hawaii coastline?
Great looks and sounding, as someone else said Sexy quality.
yes, a very windy day, that makes sound recording more difficult. As, we try to make it a relaxing video and not a wind storm.
O hell what about the maldives islands!!
Love it, great job. I'm conflicted...do I buy a HD Camera and remote mic or do I just save that money go to Hawaii, buy your DVD and call it a day.
